Average student life of civil engineer.
Placements: Around 80 to 85% of students get placed. The highest package is around 35k, and the lowest package is 15k. The average package is around 20k. Ultratech is one of the best companies that come for recruitment. Almost all of the students got internships from our course.
Infrastructure: All types of books are available in our library for each department. There are different sections for different books. Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus, especially in our hostel. They provide Ethernet cables with which we can connect our laptops directly. The food quality of the hostel is not so good, but not so bad; it's average. The washrooms are clean, and the room is big enough for five people.
Faculty: Faculty members are very experienced and knowledgeable. Exams are taken every 2 months, and at the end of the semester, a final exam will be taken. Especially in our department, we had a lot of practicals conducted by faculty members. We had different site visits and field trips to different companies.

The college teaches you not only engineering but also to live your life.
Placements: Placements in our college were pretty good, about 80% of the students were placed. The highest salary offered was around Rs. 70,000 per month. Every department has a student placement secretary, who plays a vital role in coordinating with the placement officer and students.
Infrastructure: GEC campus is beautiful, spreading over 250 acres on a hill. The infrastructure is very good, each department is allocated with one or more buildings, and Wi-Fi facility is provided in every building. The college has state-of-the-art labs. We have some experiments which can be conducted only in our college in the entire Goa. The college has 4 boys' hostels and 2 girls' hostels, and one more hostel building is under construction. Rooms are in good condition after the recent renovations. Each room is enabled with a LAN connection offering the speed up to 20 Mbps. The campus has a canteen, restaurant, cafe, ice cream or juice centre, vada pav stall, a convenient store offering decent food, etc. The library has a good collection of books and is accessible from 8 am to 8 pm. The campus also has 2 huge grounds, one gym, table tennis, badminton, basketball courts, cricket practice net, etc.
Faculty: Our college boasts of very highly qualified and knowledgeable faculty who are experts in their particular fields. The student-faculty ratio was around 20:1, which should be reduced in the coming years. Our college provides great industry exposure by organising at least 1-2 industrial visits per semester and 2-3 seminars by the industry experts, every semester.
Other: Many events are conducted in the college. Inter-branch cultural and sports fest are celebrated in the odd semesters. 'Goals', which is the biggest cultural fest and a tech fest named Spectrum are celebrated in the even semester. Besides this, TEDxGEC, Spic Macey events, and other events like dahi hand are celebrated. The college also has various clubs like music club, literature club, quiz club and coders club, which organise various activities throughout the year. The major event is Photoflare, conducted by the photography club. GEC also has great sports and cultural teams with good winning records in inter-college events.

A best pick for good education and living a fun life.
Placements: In our college, 12-15 companies came for interviews, offering opportunities in various fields like designing, consultancy, site work, estimating, sales, and RMC plant. Around 60-65% of students were placed, and the rest were helped to get placements. The minimum package was ₹13,000, and the maximum was ₹25,000. The top recruiters were Vedanta and Ultratech.
Infrastructure: The college provides us with computer labs, equipped AC, and auditorium halls with the latest technologies. The classrooms are a bit old-fashioned, with traditional furniture and blackboards along with projectors. Each department has separate buildings, each with high-speed 5G networks. The hostels are not very comfortable, and the canteen food is average with inadequate seating. The campus includes a gymnasium with various activities, a large ground, and an indoor court.
Faculty: The course I chose is civil engineering, which teaches us about the construction of roads, railways, airports, bridges, and buildings. It also has good placement opportunities in real life. The course should focus more on practical knowledge rather than theoretical knowledge, and there should be more time allotted for internship programs. There are many events, including inter-college events and inter-department events like Tandav, which are related to the respective departments. There are also many technical events that provide various aspects for student growth and the application of their skills. The college has various clubs and sports activities like cricket, football, table tennis, badminton, chess, etc.

One would not regret joining this college, its a lifetime experience.
Placements: While branches like electronics ad telecommunication, information technology and computer has good placements, core branches like civil, mechanical and electrical have a few companies coming. For our batch we had companies like Infosys, IBM, IVP etc. Who had came for etc./IT/computer students and JWS, GSIDC for others.
Infrastructure: Since its one of the oldest colleges in the state, some of the buildings are really old, but rest of the campus is new. One will find all the necessary books in the library just the number can be improved. Campus has Wi-Fi connections everywhere. There is a gymkhana for indoor sports and a HUGE ground next to it called infinity ground where one can keep 'n' number of events at a time.
Faculty: There is enough number of teachers in the college. There are some senior and highly experienced teachers. All the new faculty meet the qualifications needed to join as a faculty. Also there are some good mentors and they'll help if one approaches them.
Other: College holds an inter branch event every odd semester called Tandav which is a platform for students to showcase their talents. Every even semester there is an inter collegiate event Happenings where colleges from all the colleges for Goa come to compete and win the glorious trophy. There is also a technical fest organised Spectrum where colleges come from other states too.

If you really want to do engineering then only do it. Don't waste your 4 years.
Placements: For civil field the placements are almost nil. Only 1-2 students get placed. Internships are offered by all companies you approach to. I have no experience of placements as I ll be passing next year but my senior told me that only one company had come but took 0 students, that's the case of campus placements in gec. So 0% of students were recruited.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is good in Goa engineering college. Labs have machinaries which are not available in other colleges ( told to us by our teachers) but they are not working as GEC is still celebrating their golden jubilee. The equipments are 50 years old except few. Wi-Fi is available in library. GEC is good for sports and all other activities.
Faculty: It is a myth in Goa engineering college there are good professors. Except 2-3 faculty members, most of them don't know how to teach and make classes interesting regarding the subject. Curriculum is now updated for sake but they follow same pattern and methods which were used many years ago. It doesn't make students industry ready as on site the things are totally different. Professors put very little efforts and expect us to know everything. You GOT to learn most of the things by yourself and that's a good thing.
Other: To be frank I was getting two options civil and IT, I chose civil because I wanted to work in Goa itself. In CIVIL you can get also government job or work in private sector in latest stage with experience and no doubt you can also start your own business you have enough funds. Events fests connectivity are best in this college. You grow as a person a lot and also network with lots of people of your age, the only good thing I feel.
