{Source: B.E. / B.Tech students & alumni}

Course Curriculum at Government Engineering College, Baran

The course curriculum at Government Engineering College, Baran is structured around the guidelines set by IIT Kharagpur. Here's what students have shared:

* Syllabus completion: Teachers focus on completing the syllabus ahead of schedule, allowing students to prepare well for exams.
* Practicals: Although students feel that without practicals, they cannot become industry-ready, there is limited mention of practical classes in the reviews.
* Semester exams: Semester exams are considered relatively easy, and the passing mark is 40%.

Here's how the course curriculum is structured:

* Theory and Practical classes: Classes are held regularly, covering both theoretical and practical aspects of the course.
* Assignments and projects: Students work on assignments and projects, which helps them apply theoretical concepts to real-world problems.
* Exams: Semester exams are conducted twice a year, assessing student performance throughout the semester.

Overall, while the course curriculum appears to be well-structured, students would benefit from more emphasis on practical training to make them industry-ready.

GECB Baran, Rajasthan First Engineering college of Baran.
Placements: This college does not provide any placement service. You have to find jobs by yourself Internship is compulsory and every student have to do internship by itself Saras Dairy in Kotak Rajasthan is main industry for internship for agricultural engineering students of GECB.
Infrastructure: Classroom is good but library is not proper setup You only get course book from there no room for study Hostel facilities is not there Mess and canteen not in campus Medical facilities not there Sports, you want to play buy your game kit yourself Games not allowed to play in college time.
Faculty: Teachers was helpful, but not qualified My AG Eng faculty is only B.Teach pass even not M.Teach Teaching is kind average. Course curriculum is according to IIT Kharagpur. Semester exams are easy but exams center are out of college For end term 40 percent is passing marks combined of internal and external.
Other: My batch is first batch.

There is lack of placements. Overall, I am dissatified with this college.
Placements: There were no campus placements. The college didn't have a principal. The management was run by a professor only. They didn't have enough faculty members to teach. Some students got jobs on their own. In agricultural engineering, they didn't provide internships and training.
Infrastructure: GECB did not have its own building till 2022. It was run by Government Polytechnic College. Labs were not available. Hostel facility was not available. Food, medical, and sports facilities were not available. They don't allow you to play with your own bat, ball, or badminton racket. Smart classes were also not available.
Faculty: Lecturers were not good enough. Teachers were helpful, but the management was in the wrong person's hands. He was not a principal but still, he managed the college. There were no permanent faculty members. Teachers were guest faculty. They were new to the teaching field. Thus, students had to be calm even if they didn't understand the teaching.
Other: Agricultural engineering course is one of the most demanding courses nowadays.

Students should join this college after checking both pros and cons.
Placements: Due to the covid situation, students didn't get any placement opportunities, and they don't get assistance in placement, because there is no TPO team in college. Only one company arrived for only CSE students, and the top role offered by them is quality assurance engineer.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is very bad, because they don't have their building. They run in Polytechnic College on rent with no Wi-Fi, no laboratories, limited classroom access, and no library. There is no hostel and canteen and other facilities as well.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. Students can choose this college, because of the quality of teaching in some branches. They focus on the syllabus and complete it before time. But without practicals, students can't be industry-ready. The passing percentage is 40%, and students can easily pass the semester exams.
Other: I opted for this course, because I got the scholarship and I don't have to pay any tuition fees. They should have computer laboratories at least, and students can learn more and start making mini-projects. It should visit the new building, and provide basic facilities that every engineering college should have.

Not worthy to join now. You can join after 10 years if you want.
Placements: Only a girl gets placed till now because of her own hard work. College doesn't even think about your placements and future. Not a single company came for placements in the college. They don't even have a placements staff team. You have to apply and approach for companies by your own.
Infrastructure: They don't have their own building of the college. College runs in Polytechnic college building on rent with limited classroom excess. No Wi-Fi, no labs, no practicals, limited classroom excess and can't even stand in corridor and no Library, no sports and nothing else.
Faculty: Some of the teachers are very helpful and they give you tips and tricks for the exam preparation and they help you there best to clear your exams and score good marks. But you will get only theoretical knowledge. 40% is the passing criteria and you will definitely clear exams if you follow tier instructions.
Other: I chose this course because I got the scholarship and I completed my whole engineering in just 80k and I easily gets the seat in the branch which I want. They should move to the new building of the college and hire enough staff and then provide every minimal facilities that should every engineering college have. And organise more events not only a fresher party in a year.
