Good infrastructure and faculty but college is situated far away from town.
Placements: Almost all of the students are placed in the college. The number of companies coming for placement depends upon the course you selected. Normally, the number of mechanical companies coming for placement is less. But for other departments, there are good companies coming.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good, and it is sufficient for the students studying. The classrooms are technologically advanced. There is a common library for all courses. The hostel has high facilities, but the seats available there are limited. It is based on marks.
Faculty: The faculty members of the mechanical branch are highly skilled and knowledgeable. The professors are very helpful in studying and friendly in teaching. The course curriculum is relevant, but it doesn't make it ready for industry. Semester exams are moderately tough.

Place to enjoy and study.
Placements: GEC Palakkad is a reputed engineering college in Kerala with good infrastructure and faculty. The placement scenario for mechanical engineering is decent, with 65% of students getting placed in companies like L&T, Kirloskar, DRDO, etc. The average package offered is 5 LPA and the highest package offered is 12 LPA.
Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure available for mechanical engineering department are satisfactory. The department has well-equipped labs for fluid mechanics, thermal engineering, manufacturing technology, robotics, etc. The classrooms are spacious and have projectors and speakers. The library has a good collection of books and journals related to mechanical engineering. The Wi-Fi facility is available in the campus and the hostels. The hostel facilities are also decent. The men's hostel has about 200 occupancies and the ladies' hostel has more than that. Both are very clean and have canteen, mess, Wi-Fi, purified water, CCTV security and laundry services. The hostel feels are also very low. The quality of food available in the mess and canteen is average. The college has a health centre on the campus to meet the medical needs of the students and staff. The college also provides sports and games facilities such as gymnasium, cricket ground, football ground, basketball court, badminton court, table tennis, chess, etc.
Faculty: The teachers were helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. They had good teaching skills and experience. They used various methods to make the concepts clear and interesting. They also provided guidance and support for projects, internships, and placements. The course curriculum was relevant and updated. It covered the basic and advanced topics of engineering. It also included electives, labs, workshops, seminars, and industrial visits. It made the students industry ready and enhanced their skills and knowledge. The semester exams were moderate difficult. The pass percentage of the college was around 80%. The exams were conducted by the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University and followed the KTU regulations.

Powerful department with good faculty members.
Placements: My college is providing campus placement but mostly in IT companies and software companies. Any branch students can apply, but most of the students are interested in doing the core job. It is difficult to get the job you studied for. From semester 7, campus placement starts. Companies that came during 2024 include TCS, L&T, Cognizant, MRF, Walkaroo, Accenture, and many more. The highest package includes 10L per annum, and the average package is 5 LPA.
Infrastructure: There is one boys' hostel. Many private hostels are available. The food in the boys' hostel is average. The fee is affordable, only a maximum of 3500 per month. Free Wi-Fi is there. There are a lot of PGs available nearby, but they cost a minimum of 5000 per month. Let’s talk about the lab facilities in our department. The mechanical department has sufficient lab facilities, but our AutoCAD lab is average. It requires some maintenance. All other labs are well-equipped with sufficient machines. Therefore, the department has NBA accreditation.
Faculty: Our curriculum is average. It has nothing to do with the industry. We are just studying to get marks and have no practical knowledge. Actually, one semester is 5 months and 1 month for exams. But we only get 3 months for completing the entire syllabus of a semester and 1 month for exams. But the new 2024 scheme is more job-oriented. Our mechanical faculty members are very friendly and helpful. Semester exams are average, and we have an average pass percentage.

Classrooms are smartboards and are sufficient for 80 students. Hostel facilities are provided for both girls and boys. Hostel and mess fee is Rs.4,500.
