B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2025
Offered by Government Engineering College, Barton Hill
4.4
4Placements3Infrastructure5Faculty5Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
One of the top five engineering college in Kerala.
Placements: I am from mechanical engineering branch. In mechanical engineering branch, most of the placement offers are from it related companies like ibs, etc. Around 90% of applied students get placement in various companies but number of placement offers from mechanical core company are low there will be an average package of around 3.6 Lacs per annum. Placement offers from Top companies includes SADA, FEDERAL BANK, TATA, IBS, MAHINDRA etc.
Infrastructure: The college is just 7 acres which is very small area as compared to other government college. But The college is situated on centre of the Kerala capital city 'TRIVANDRUM'. There is Wi-Fi connection throughout the college and hostel. There is various department labs and classroom and a good library
2 Ladies hostel are situated on college campus but there is not hostel for means.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful, highly qualified, friendly and knowledgeable
All teachers have minimum Ph.D. qualification
The course curruculam is very relevant. The College Follows the rule and course curriculum of the Kerala technical
Most of the years our college becomes first or second position in ktu colleges in pass percentage .

A quiet campus tucked away in the heart of Trivandrum city.
Placements: Almost all the students who have cleared their backlogs have been placed. However, most of the placements are from IT companies. The Core companies in other branches range from rarely to None. There is hope for the future branches as the placement cell is improving considerably.
Infrastructure: The classrooms are spacious and large. They are equipped with smart boards and projectors. The desks and benches are mostly in good condition. A new block is being constructed. When completed, the college can boast of an incredible campus even in its very limited space. Men's hostel is non-existent in this college and the boys have to take up accommodation in nearby PGs or hostels. The college severely lags on the front. There is no dedicated ground for any sports. The auditorium doubles up as a volleyball court, a cricket net and a mini football ground.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are knowledgeable and teach effectively. The syllabus taught is as per the KTU regulations. The relevance of the course taught is debatable. However, there are many positive parts of the curriculum. The exams are conducted all over Kerala and are relatively difficult.

If you are looking for good friends and academics, this will be a good choice.
Placements: Don't expect core company placement.
Only IT companies are coming.
Average Salary: INR 25–35 per month
Almost all the students who attended the placement got jobs.
If you know basic coding skills, that's just enough to get into placement classes provided by colleges. YouTube will be helpful.
Infrastructure: No boys' hostel is there.
There are two girls' hostels available, with more than enough seats for the girls.
No playground is available.
But lab and classroom infrastructure are inadequate.
Lab staff are good at helping.
The lab exam is not so tough. Almost all machines are in working condition.
Faculty: Qualified faculty, but they are not interested in teaching.
Only self-study will help you.
A good peer group is available, so it will be helpful.
The syllabus is not a big task; previous year's questions, the KTU notes website, and seniors will help you get good marks.
Other: Good campus life, but SFI politics is very bad.

It's a good college but needs to improve its placements.
Placements: Around 50-60% of students were placed in various top MNCs, and students are offered top roles in their respective companies. Salary packages range from 3 Lacs per annum to 9 Lacs per annum. Almost all the students secured internship opportunities via workshops, and some of them were able to secure their internship opportunities in their first year of their course itself.
Infrastructure: The campus is Wi-Fi enabled, and smart televisions are available in each classroom along with projectors and screens. There is a large technical library in our college. A canteen is available which provides decent quality food. There are 2 ladies' hostels on campus. As I heard, decent quality food is provided in the hostel mess.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful and provide good quality teaching. The course curriculum is relevant and makes the students industry-ready. Our college has above 95% pass percentage, and semester examinations are easy due to good quality teaching.
Other: I want to become a mechanical engineer as I am interested in it. Our main campus event is Aagneya, and it is one of the gorgeous events.

The college is one of the best in academic matters and has a highly efficient faculty.
Placements: Around 60-70% of students in our college were placed in various companies like MRF, TCS, Infosys, and many more. The salary packages offered to us range from 3 LPA to 12 LPA based on talent and exposure to the field. Almost everyone who completed the course was able to find some internship opportunity or another. Major roles were offered by the recruiting companies to the students. The placement cell is one of the best in Kerala government colleges.
Infrastructure: All other facilities are provided by the college except for a men's hostel, which they are currently working on. There are ladies' hostels, and almost every female student gets a place there without much trouble. A Wi-Fi facility is available throughout the campus and the speed is also reasonable. Classrooms are well-equipped and lab facilities are great, except for the physics and chemistry labs for the first years. The canteen food is nice. Sports and games for interested students are also available, though that's not a standout feature of our college.
Faculty: We have an excellent faculty. Regular classes and exams are conducted whenever they should be, except for the occasional strikes, which are a part of every government college. The quality of teaching is really good, and teachers put a lot of effort into teaching and doing everything for the best interests of the students. The course curriculum is relevant compared to all other colleges, and semester exams aren't that difficult if you prepare enough for them.
Other: There are so many clubs and student bodies like ASME, IEEE, CSI, and IEDC that are highly active and help add a lot of technical skills and practical knowledge to the students. The college fest, popularly called "aagneya," is one of the best techno-cultural fests in any college in the state. Seniors are friendly and helpful, and the environment is peaceful.
