B.Sc. in Biotechnology - Batch of 2020
Offered by Guru Nanak Khalsa College of Arts, Science and Commerce
2.8

It is a very good college with knowledge and sports.
Placements: The majority of the students got placed in our college. The highest salary package offered is around 5 LPA, and the average salary package offered is around 1.9 LPA. Top recruitment companies are Dr. Reddy's, ICICI and many others. The number of students who got an internship is pretty good as our college has NCBI, which is good for students to learn more about biotech.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is pretty good. Our college has air-conditioned rooms and well-equipped labs for practicals. The library is pretty vast with information. The college doesn't have a hostel. The quality of food in the canteen is good. Our college is known for its reputation in the sports field as many international players were students of our college.
Faculty: Teaching staff members are quite skilled and experienced, and they are very helpful towards students. The course curriculum is pretty good, and they teach things that happen in the industry. They give a decent diagram of what things you should know to go into the industry.
Other: I got to know about this course from the internet as I was searching for what to do after the 12th. The best thing about this course is the scope of the field gets pretty vast as biotechnology has everything ranging from food to research. Events in our college happen quite often as our college is big with departments. The crowd is good, and you can apply for scholarships too.

Absolutely satisfied because of the faculty. There are really good infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: Placements are not available in this college. I have been assured that we will get the placements, but at the end, it was a big lie. Topper of our batch scored 91% in academics. Some of our batch students got the internship programme at Charak Vatika near Lower Parel for 3 months.
Infrastructure: Overall the infrastructure of the college is good. I would rate it 7 out of 10. The college is accredited with A grade certification by NAAC. There is a Wi-Fi facility available in the college, but it doesn't matter because now a day everyone has a cellphone with Jio. Labs are good. Classrooms are also good, but I don't know about the library because I never visited.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are very helpful and friendly. All the teachers are very good with the students. Some of the teachers are strict, but that doesn't matter if they are very good at the teaching of their particular subjects or any of the topic. Students are very enjoyable, and the crowd is somewhat nice.
Other: The only reason I wanted to opt for this course is that I like this subject. There should be more extracurricular work involved along with the mandatory courses. The college events and fest are very enjoyable here.

The college provides good facilities and infrastructure.
Placements: Placements drives are conducted on the campus where various companies which have placement partnership with this college is done. Teaching staff members are helpful, and they also train you for your placement interview. They train you well that your skills get improve as your performance level.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are well-maintained and ventilated, and canteen is also good. The library is awesome with very helpful staff members, and laboratories are equipped with high technology equipment and software. NCC unit of this college is one of the best with discipline. Gymkhana of this college is with gym facilities.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and well-qualified. You can go to them with any doubts regarding your syllabus. The entire syllabus is covered by teachers. Regular lectures and practicals make it easy to understand the curriculum. Industrial visit or visits to any other place is also provided whenever needed.

There is a good college with an excellent quality of teaching. Worth the Money.
Placements: Department of biotechnology officially doesn't provide placements as most of the students go for the masters, but, if students are interested in jobs or in internships, HOD madam will definitely help in getting you somewhere placed as she has contacts with most of the companies. Also, most of the alumni from the biotechnology department are entrepreneurs and will definitely hire you for the job or an internship in their organisation.
Infrastructure: This college does not provide a free Wi-Fi to students. Here, classrooms are old hence not spacious for the strength of 60 students. You will feel drained in the summer season because of the humid climate in Mumbai, and there will be no ventilation in the classrooms. Medical facilities are not available here, but teachers are very caring and will definitely help you in case of an emergency. Sports ground is awesome as it depends on your interest and your active participation. The laboratory here is average, and you will get all the necessary equipment and chemicals to complete your experiments on time. The quality of the food in the canteen is pathetic. However, one can enjoy Subway, Naturals ice cream, Cafe Coffee Day and lots of food corner outside the college premises.
Faculty: The faculty members here are very good in terms of the knowledge and teaching. The quality of teaching is excellent, and teachers will make use of the latest technologies (videos, projectors, practical experiments) to help students understand a concept. Students also get industrial exposure and interaction with the guest lectures with teachers of various colleges and the alumni of biotechnology department. Every teacher will provide notes on time, and you will get your syllabus completed before the university examination along with the preliminary examinations.
Other: The annual event of Nazrana is good, and most of the students take part in it. Department of the Biotechnology event, Biofiesta is a one-day event, but I enjoyed more than Nazrana. The crowd is decent. This college is at 15 minutes walking distance from Matunga (C. R) railway station and at a 20 minutes walking distance from Wadala Station. The National Faculty of Biopharmaceuticals (NFB) lab in the college campus provides various certificate courses and 3-year module course which most of the students completed with their B.Sc. These courses will definitely help you in expanding your knowledge with theoretical and practical learning.

Overall, the experience got here mattered the most. Faculty members were very helpful.
Placements: We had a batch of a maximum of 30 students. Our college did not offer placements. However, the institute provided us with a fair idea about companies through workshops. The institute offered us opportunities in the teaching field as well, where we could apply to teach our major subject. The salary package was not discussed as, during my tenure, the course was still new to India.
Infrastructure: The college had a very good infrastructure, and we had access to the canteen, library and laboratory. Sports and games were not part of our department. However, we were given a choice to try for the college team. There was no hostel facility. We did not have access to Wi-Fi.
Faculty: Faculty members were extremely knowledgeable and approachable, and their teaching quality was up to the mark. The final year course curriculum was definitely relevant to the industry. They perfectly taught the practical part of the course curriculum to fit the current industry matter.
Other: I have opted for this course because it had a lot of scope. The best thing about the course was that it was well structured and did not involve a lot of rote learning. I wish events that the institute and the department conducted could be done much better. There was a lack of extracurricular activities.
