* Campus has a peaceful and green atmosphere
* Library and canteen facilities are well-maintained and accessible

* Collaborative extracurricular activities and festivals

Cons:

* Limited hostel facilities and availability of nearby paying guest accommodations
* Placement record is average, with limited job offers and fewer placements compared to other colleges

The faculty and department are excellent, but there are no placement services available.
Placements: Placement of students is determined by the percentage they receive in 12th-grade Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. The course does not offer a package but instead provides internships in various companies. All second-year students have a compulsory internship. One of the basic roles offered is a lab technician, while other roles such as teacher and researcher are also available.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are equipped with smart boards, and the labs maintain high-quality equipment. New equipment is purchased every year, and overall facility maintenance is excellent. A lab assistant is also present. No hostel facilities are available, but there is a canteen for food and drinks.
Faculty: The teachers are highly knowledgeable, each having a PhD in their respective fields. The quality of teaching is engaging and direct. The course does not follow fixed textbooks; instead, references are made from anywhere in the library. Exams are rigorous but include a few difficult questions; anyone studying adequately can achieve a good GPA.

It's the best college in Mumbai for biotechnology and is located in a lush green area of Mulund.
Placements: Unfortunately, placements were not conducted by our college, even for final year students of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. However, from the year 2020, our college has been granted autonomy by the University of Mumbai. It is assured by the principal to conduct placements from this academic year among all faculty members. More than 40% of students had some internships in good biopharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, including the scientific research centre (SRC), which focuses on essential oil extraction and plant biotechnology by plant tissue culture (PTC). The course provides immense theoretical knowledge of all the concepts required for industry and academia interface. But the course lacks sufficient practical skills.
Infrastructure: Our college has a huge campus and is located in a lush green area of Mithagar road, Mulund east area next to the eastern express highway. Our college is about 1 km away, which takes 10 minutes to walk from Mulund railway station. Our college is well connected by road from Thane and Mumbai suburban cities like Bhandup, Ghatkopar, Kanjurmarg, etc. It is well-equipped with a library, canteen, labs, reading and periodical areas, etc. There are well maintained and well-facilitated labs for chemistry, botany, zoology, physics and biotechnology. The instruments provided in the labs are funded under Star College Scheme by DBT (department of biotechnology), Government of India. In spite of having good labs, there is an issue of accommodation of all students and a lack of instruments for personal use. Many times there is a situation that about 8-10 students share a single instrument like a microscope, colorimeter, pH meter, etc. There is a huge gymnasium with all indoor games equipment and a huge ground for sports activities. There is a hostel facility, but nearby, paying guest (PG) facility is available. The canteen has good varieties of food items, and they are of low cost due to student subsidy. The campus has free Jio network Wi-Fi, but it blocks few sites and restricts only basic usage. Even the campus faces a lot of network issues for all telephone operators like Airtel, Vodafone, Jio, etc. Classrooms are plenty with whiteboard and projector and PC facility.
Faculty: The biotechnology department of our college is one of the best departments under self-financing courses of degree college. The faculty members here consist of 5 teachers with doctorates and subjects like microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, animal biotechnology and plant biotechnology. They are well-experienced academicians with excellent teaching skills of their specialised subject by using all teaching aids available. They conduct online as well as offline lectures and provide proper reference materials and notes. They conduct practicals and weekly assignments. Moreover, they organise lectures by guest speakers for various disciplines. Even they conduct workshops and guidance lectures for different topics. The faculty members have a good collection of more than 100 reference books with 2-3 copies for reference. The 3 years B.Sc biotechnology programme contains a good knowledge of a plethora of interdisciplinary subjects like chemistry, molecular biology, life sciences, immunology, microbiology, environmental sciences and plant biotechnology. But the curriculum lacks sufficient practical skills, which are necessary for industry jobs and applied research. The department promotes students to take part in research conventions, conferences, webinars, etc.
Other: The campus is happening and highly crowded from various disciplines. Our college conducts intercollegiate competitions along with the promotion of cultural activities like Vaze Vitee dance and drama, Dhruva Sanskrit fest, treasure hunt, science association, NSS, women development cell, placement cell, IQVAC, career guidance cell, research promotions committee, English literary club, G.D Kelkar skill development courses like mushroom cultivation, foreign languages like German, Japanese, Spanish, French, etc. Our college offers a B.Voc course on travel tourism first time in Mumbai University. Our college has its own magazine known as Mayur and Vaze newsletter. Our college organises an annual function as well as Dimensions fest which have various events for 2 days with intercollegiate competitions, DG wars and many more. The entire college is crowded with students during Dimensions fest as every year they invite a celebrity including Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Subodh Bhave, Ankush Chaudhari, Prajakta Koli (YouTuber who is popularly known by her YouTube name MostlySane), etc. I chose this course as this college is recognised under the top 5 colleges in pan India as the best biotechnology college. SRC is also associated with it for research in further industrial jobs. Our college has low tuition fees and all the facilities required for students.

The college is satisfactory.
Placements: The students with a percentage around 85 to 90 were placed in our batch. There was no placement cell available when we joined the college. We were told that it was in the process, but here we are, graduates now and still there is no placement cell yet. Even though there is no internship offered by the college itself,. If you want an internship in a college SRC, then you have to pay 4000 rupees and 18% tax for it. I think they should at least offer an internship if they are not giving placements.
Infrastructure: There are only 2 classrooms for biotechnology students. There should be at least 3 classrooms because then we have to shift immediately after our lectures and sit in the lab or any vacant classrooms. Even in vacant classrooms we are thrown out because our degree has allotted a certain number of classrooms and only those should be used but our classrooms are never vacant .
Faculty: The teachers here are very helpful during the examinations, especially. The course does not fully make a student industry ready but the curriculum taught is quite knowledgeable. The semester exams are not difficult if you study properly. The staff provides you with a question bank to solve.

Absolutely dissatisfied by the faculty.
Placements: I don't have any idea about the placements over there because for both B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Biotechnology there is only a single batch of students and hence no placements because of that. We have to search for the job after graduation or post-graduation.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is nice. There is one full floor given to a library. Wi-Fi connection is absolutely useless. For our department I. e for biotechnology there was no fix classroom for students. We have to wonder here and there for a empty classroom to get the lecture started until B.Sc. but in M.Sc. lectures weren't happening so I think there is no need of classrooms.
Faculty: I am pursuing M.Sc. biotechnology in kelkar college. The teaching staff is useless. They are not punctual at all. Although they are qualified enough to teach us they don't even bother if we fail or pass in the exams because they won't take our lectures and when we use to ask them about M.Sc. lectures they use to say - "why do you people need lectures". We complained about this to the principle but no use. College's department of biotechnology doesn't care about students and won't approach them. It was a proper self study course instead our money gets waste by taking admission in this college ( specifically for M.Sc. in Biotechnology). I won't comment on teaching quality because our teachers doesn't use to teach us.
Other: College has an event called dimensions.

Placement is poor but the infrastructure and facilities are good.
Placements: Our college don't have placements for B.Sc. Biotech students. The placements were going to start after we pass out but we never know. There is a cell for mentoring about career guidance but no company will visit for placement. I will suggest to look for jobs and internship before completing final year.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is good. Wi-Fi is poor. Labs are well maintained, new instruments for biotech lab has also been added recently. Biotechnology floor classrooms are real good compared to others. There is good collection of books in the library where you can study and also take home books.
Faculty: The teachers were helpful. Every one has a Ph.D. and hence can guide you in proper way. You can approach them when in doubt, some might be busy but other teachers help. Course curriculum now has changed as it has become 4 years degree. Now they might have extra subjects to make student industry ready. Semester exams were mid level, not so hard not so easy, mostly depends on the teacher.
Other: There are various departments you can participate like Vaze Sanskriti, Dimensions, NSS unit, Veethe etc. If you are an artist. You will get the u201ccollege lifeu201d is here! The crew of every department is so polite and friendly, especially of Vaze Sanskriti!
