In consideration to that and the closing cutoff of BTech courses for the year 2022, a General category student must not expect a seat in any BTech specialisation at IIIT Nagpur. As per the admission guidelines of the institute, IIIT Nagpur admits students to its BTech programme based on a valid JEE Main score. Students must fulfil the basic eligibility i.e., to pass Class 12 with a minimum aggregate of 75% from a recognised board. Hence, you can certainly apply for the BTech course offered at the institute if you have score 85% in Class 12, given you secure good marks in JEE Main exam. It is important that candidates meet the cutoff released by the institute and select IIIT Nagpur as the preferred institute at the time of registeration.

IIIT Nagpur will release 7-8 rounds of JEE Main cutoffs for admission to BTech. The cutoffs will be released on a rolling basis, and the seats will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The cutoffs will be based on the following factors:

The JEE Main score of the candidate
The category of the candidate
The number of seats available in the course

The total tuition fee for BTech at IIIT Nagpur is INR 7.92 lakh. This fee, however, is sourced from unofficial sources, hence it is indicative. As per the official fee structure released in 2022, the total fee is close to INR 9.34 lakh. But this amount is inclusive of the one-time deposits. However, hostel fee and caution deposits are not included in it.  

 BTech admisison to IIIT Nagpur is based on candidate’s JEE Main exam score followed by the centralised counselling process regulated by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) through which candidates are allotted the seat. The seat allotment also depends on the college cutoff and a candidate’s preference for that course and college. However, for the remaining vacant seats, the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) manages the counselling process. 

IIIT Nagpur is one of the new IIITs inaugarated under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) scheme. Although it is not as famous as its other IIIT counterparts, the institute is certainly a prestigious institute in the field of engineering. With increasing competition, high cutoffs, and a limited amount of seats available at the institute, it is quite a challenge to secure at the institute. However, with the right amount of preparation and continuous efforts, even average students can definitely secure a seat at the institute. Students should keep in mind that persistance is the key, and should dedicatedly prepare to crack JEE Main. 

The overall percentile required for the BTech programme is 75% (65% for SC/ST/PwD) in Class 12 or be within the category-wise top 20 percentile in his/her respective Class 12 board examination. Admission to the BTech programme is based on candidates performance in the JEE Main exams. Also, participating in the JoSAA/CSAB couselling is required for the seat allottment.
