IIIT Ranchi was established in 2016 by the MoE, the Government of India, and the Government of Jharkhand along with the industry partners TCS, TTL, and CCL in a Public Private Partnership. Indian Institute of Information Technology Ranchi is given the status of the Institute of National Importance under the Act of Parliament. Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Ranchi offers UG, PhD, and PG courses to students across Engineering and various other streams.
Indian Institute of Information Technology Ranchi is an autonomous, self-sustaining, not-for-profit, teaching and research-led education institution. Located in Ranchi, the college provides an in-campus hostel facility to students. There are separate boys' and girls' hostels with a total of 120 rooms. The college has collaborated with PARAS Hospital (HEC Dhurwa) for the medical needs of staff and students.
