Admission to the University is both entrance and merit-based. IISER Kolkata offers five courses in the field of Research, Science, and Technology at UG, PG, and doctoral level, namely a five-year BS-MS Dual Degree programme, MS in Space Physics, Integrated PhD, PhD and Postdoctoral Research programme across seven departments and five centres of excellence. In March/April, application forms for all programmes offered at IISER Kolkata are made available to the students through an online application process. Students are admitted to the BS-MS Dual Degree programme through the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY), State and Central Boards Channel (SCB) via the IISER Aptitude Test, and JEE Advanced scores. The spring semester begins in January and lasts until May, whereas the fall semester lasts from August to December.
