M.Sc. in Biotechnology - Batch of 2026

All about Masters at IIT Indore.
Placements: In M.Sc. Biotechnology, there are very few placements for students. The average is 4-6 LPA, which is very low according to IIT. Approximately 40-50% of students get placed in companies. Most students prefer Ph.D. due to the low amount offered by companies.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure and facilities are all very good. Each classroom and lab is air-conditioned. The hostel facility is very nice. The washrooms and rooms are clean. Campus life is very good. The mess provides good quality food. The sports complex has a badminton court, swimming pool, and gym facilities.
Faculty: The teachers are very approachable. Their teaching style is good. All faculty members have ample knowledge in their field as well as in other fields. Exams are based on the portions taught in class. The exam level is moderate to difficult. There is relatively fair marking for results.
Other: The fest, sports, and other facilities are good. Everything is great except for placements. Practical knowledge is far better here.

Really good infrastructure.
Placements: Almost 92 percent of students got placed. The highest is 60 LPA, the average is 25 LPA, and the lowest is around 8 LPA. Amazon, Oracle, Microsoft, BHEL, Cisco, and Accenture visited. We get internships during our third year. Almost 80 percent get internships. The above-mentioned companies take us as interns. Roles offered are mostly VLSI- and software-based.
Infrastructure: The Wi-Fi is a little bad. Other than that, all is good. There are double-sharing rooms; 3rd and 4th years get single-sharing rooms. The library is closed on holidays, but the self-study center is open 24/7. Food is not bad, but don't expect too much. You will live in a unit, 4 BHK. There are washrooms in each unit too.
Faculty: The teachers are good, but you have to do your own stuff. The course curriculum teaches a lot of relevant stuff. Semester exams are quite difficult, but as it is relative grading, you don't have to worry much. The pass percentage is very high. You get to go on industrial trips too.
Other: I wanted to get into a circuital branch. As this college is a top IIT, I thought this was better. There will be one or another event happening all the time.

Life in an IIT by an average student.
Placements: In our course, approximately 80% of the students got placed with an average CTC of 10 LPA. The highest package was around 18 Lacs per annum and average was around 10 LPA with the lowest package being around 5 to 6 LPA. Many PSUs and tech companies visit for recruitments. Students getting internship opportunities are less in this branch compared to the other branches.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is the soul of this college. The hostels are good and cleaned properly. The medical facilities along with the and sports facilities also good. Wi-Fi is provided across the campus. Classrooms and the library are equipped with modern day technology. Quality of food in the mess is sometimes moderate and sometimes good or average, but it is never bad. Sports facilities are still progressing but they are moderate.
Faculty: Professors are well educated as they all have done their Ph.Ds from IITs. They are a little old fashioned and are very strict. Course curriculum is relevant and makes the students industry ready. Semesters are a bit difficult and the students need to work hard. Many student get a back (fail) in the exams.

A student's honest review of IIT Indore by Raja Reddy. Mentioning the advantage of IIT.
Placements: As far as my seniors told me, students are eligible for placement in the 8th semester and internships in the 6th semester. Companies that visit every year are Google, Goldman Sachs, and Accenture. They offer roles in software development and also in core engineering. The highest offer made last year was 68 LPA for the ADE profile, and the average package was about 26 LPA.
Infrastructure: The campus infrastructure is great and is considered the best of all IITs, with modern infrastructure combined. It has buildings like hostels, mess, lecture halls, and an auditorium, all within walking distance of one another. A beautiful sports complex is under construction, and an Inter IIT event is going to happen this year.
Faculty: Faculty members are very good and well experienced. You will always find lecturers available to help you with your studies. The classes and presentations by the lecturers are well-structured and very helpful. Most lecturers are experienced and have worked in various colleges, mastering their disciplines. As for academics, it follows the modern academic structure provided by the government. I have chosen the CSE branch, and all branches are good as told by my friends. There are also various clubs to encourage self-growth and competition.
Other: Campus life has been amazing for me so far. Seniors are very helpful and respectful. The combination of academic life and sports will keep you fit and allow you to interact with many people, increasing your communication skills. The campus is beautiful, and you can truly enjoy your time here. Fests, including music and dance events, are organized, with famous singers often invited, and summits have been held for the past two years during my time here.

Infrastructure: There are fully digitalized classrooms. Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus with 20 Mbps of speed. The labs are equipped with all the latest equipment, but many times some of them are faculty. The library is very good, with almost 45,000+ books and 3000+ e-journals.
Faculty: Teachers are very qualified, but many of them lack teaching skills, especially in the math faculty. Many times, students have to rely on YouTube to prepare for exams. The course structure is very relevant to current industry trends. The semester exams are tough. The passing percentage is relatively high.
