IIT Indore Highlights 2025

Indian Institute of Technology Indore, popularly known as IIT Indore or IITI, was established in 2009. IIT Indore was founded by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and is an institute of national importance. Located in Simrol, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, IIT Indore is one of the eight new IITs initiated by the Government of India. IITI is a Public Technical Institute and has secured the 16th rank in the NIRF 2024 Rankings under the 'Engineering' category.

IIT Indore has signed several MoUs at the national and international levels with other institutions and organisations. The MoUs at the national level are signed with organisations such as ICAR-Indian Institute of Soybean Research, Indore, IIT Bhilai, Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering (CIAE), Bhopal, AIIMS Bhopal, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and IIIT Allahabad, among others. The MOUs at the International level are signed with the National Taiwan University, Taiwan, Institute for Catalysis (ICAT), Japan, Chonnam National University, Korea, University of Agder, Norway, and others.

IIT Indore (IITI) History

Some of the historical facts of IIT Indore are listed below:

Established in 2009, IIT Indore is one of the eight new IITs established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development under the Institutes of Technology Amendment Act, 2011.
The Act was passed in the Lok Sabha on 24 March 2011 and by the Rajya Sabha on 30 April 2012.
The HRD Minister of India of that period, Arjun Singh laid the foundation stone of IIT Indore on 17 February 2009 in its permanent campus located in Simrol, Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
IIT Indore worked from 2009 to 2010 in its temporary campus at the Institute of Engineering and Technology of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya under the mentorship of IIT Bombay with Dr. Pradeep Mathur as the founding director.
The first batch of IIT Indore graduated in 2013, and the institute celebrated its first Convocation Day on 8 June 2013.
IITI moved from the two rented campuses to its permanent campus in Simrol in October 2015.

JEE Main is also the eligibility test for JEE Advanced. Only those candidates who have qualified for JEE Main are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced entrance test for admission to IIT Indore BTech courses.
