Q:   Which course has better placements at Janki Devi Memorial College DU, B.Com or B.A?

    A:

The B.Com programme at Janki Devi Memorial College appears to have better placements compared to the B.A program:

According to the Janki Devi Memorial College B.Com placement statistics, the average package for B.Com is 400,000 INR and the highest domestic package is also 400,000 INR.

They do not provide specific placement data for the B.A program. However, some mentions that some placements for B.A students were in the range of 10,000-20,000 INR, which is significantly lower than the B.Com average package.

The B.Com programme has a total of 115 seats, with 47 in the unreserved category, indicating a relatively large programme size compared to individual B.A programme specializations.

Absolutely satisfied with the faculty and college.
Placements: Our course did not offer us any placement. Because it is a non-technical course. All one can do is go for either higher studies or give competitive exams. But it is a very scoring subject. So would be very helpful for civil servant examinations.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is great. It has all the facilities. Even lifts and plans are constructed for specially abled children. There is greenery in the whole college. It has a very big and beautiful library with all the new facilities. Classrooms are very spacious and airy. The girls hostel is very good. With proper security, and food quality is also very nice. There is also a medical room in the college where one can rest or take any medicine. There's a big ground for outdoor sports. And all the games are played and taught.
Faculty: The teachers are highly qualified and knowledgeable. They taught in depth and made us understand everything. One can ask the doubts several times. This course curriculum is very relevant. As it prepares the student to go for higher studies and do research projects or work in NGOs, MNCs, or Civil Service Exams. The level of exams was easy to moderate. The passing percentage is 40% of total marks.

One of the best off-campus colleges at DU.
Placements: The Career Opportunity Cell of the college provides information about government-approved internships from time to time. Some students do enroll in them. Most of these are related to digital marketing and content writing. The college provides earning opportunities by other means too. For eg. Project Anupam encourages small startups.
Infrastructure: The college provides good infrastructure and a surrounding area full of greenery. The library has better facilities now, including e-resources, a reading area and a variety of books. There are three computer labs, a recording room, an open auditorium and a language lab too. Krishna Hostel is on the campus itself and known to have good facilities, but it is quite expensive. The canteen area, or cafeteria, is a nice place to hang out; even a Nescafe has been opened beside it.
Faculty: The teaching quality of the teachers is satisfactory. There are some audio-visual classrooms in the college, but these are not used frequently (at least by some departments). The syllabus for all courses has been changed in accordance with the New Education Policy (NEP), which is indeed better. The difficulty level of semester exams is the same as at any other college of the university; that is, in my opinion, not very difficult. All students generally pass the exams.

We can proudly say that JDMC has all our hearts in every aspect.

Infrastructure: The facilities at JDMC in every aspect, whether WiFi, labs, classrooms, or library, were very good. The classrooms were very spacious and fully ventilated. The WiFi also had great speed. The labs were also air-conditioned, and the library was well-organized.
Faculty: The teachers at JDMC were really great mentors and inspirational to each of the students. They were knowledgeable and helpful too. No matter how busy they were, they always prioritized students' problems and concerns. The semesters were moderate to hard.
Other: The fests were well-conducted and well-attended. Scholarships were also given for the betterment of children and students.

It's one of the most beautiful campuses of Delhi University with a highly qualified teaching staff.
Placements: Almost 60-70 percent of students were placed for the batch of 2024. The average salary is about 4 LPA, with the highest being 9 LPA. Companies like EY, JLL, Four Daniel, Tata Power, HDFC were some of the top recruiters this session. They also offered internships, both paid and unpaid.
Infrastructure: One of the best features of Janki Devi Memorial College is its infrastructure, including college Wi-Fi, 4 computer labs, a library with a separate e-research room, and facilities for physically challenged students. The campus canteen serves quality, healthy food. There is also a medical room with a professional nurse. The sports culture at JDMC is excellent, offering volleyball, football, basketball, and indoor games like chess.
Faculty: The teaching staff at JDMC is highly qualified, comprising inspiring individuals. Here, both studies and decorum are considered very important. Regarding the course curriculum's relevancy, it definitely prepares students to be industry-ready. The semester exams are moderate, never too difficult.
Other: The sole purpose for selecting this course was its relevance to my future goals. One aspect that I find best about it is studying two major subjects, history and polity, which help in building a strong foundation for higher education. Highlighting the events and fest culture at JDMC, I believe every fest like Jyotsana or Symphony is among the best Delhi University has to offer and should be attended. The campus is located near a residential area, making it safer for students.

A JDMCian who tried her best to help you out.
Placements: The average package is around 1 LPA, but there are very few companies that come to recruit English Honours students. BCom students, however, may have better placement opportunities within the college.
Infrastructure: Our college provides facilities like Wi-Fi, air-conditioned labs, well-maintained classrooms, and a well-furnished library. I stayed in the hostel, and they offer excellent facilities to their students. The hostel, known as Krishna Hostel, is well-furnished and clean. The hostel committee also provides sports facilities to the students.
Faculty: The teachers are generally good and friendly. Some may be strict, especially in the English department, so be careful. The curriculum of the college is well-structured. The semester exams are not difficult as the teachers prepare their students well.
Other: I chose this course because I love reading novels, and if you are a literature lover, English Honours is a great choice. The faculty is supportive and helpful. One suggestion for improvement is that teachers should try to involve every student in discussions. The annual fest of JDMC is called Symphony, and it is held every year around January.
