Q:   Question: How is the course curriculum for B.E. / B.Tech at JCT College of Engineering?

    A:
    {Source: B.E. / B.Tech students & alumni}

Course Curriculum for BE/BTech in Petroleum Engineering at JCT College

Based on the feedback from students and alumni, here's an overview of the course curriculum:

    * Lack of Practical Knowledge: Many students felt that the course focused more on theoretical aspects and did not provide sufficient practical knowledge, making it challenging for them to apply their skills in real-world scenarios.
    * Relevance to Industry Needs: Some students mentioned that the course curriculum does not align with the requirements of the industry, resulting in a lack of employability among graduates.
    * Teaching Quality: While some faculty members were knowledgeable and helpful, others lacked practical experience and teaching skills, leading to ineffective classroom interactions.
    * Syllabus Completion: Students reported that their professors often failed to cover the entire syllabus, leaving important topics unaddressed and creating difficulties during examinations.
    * Emphasis on Mugging Up: The emphasis on rote memorization and mugging up rather than conceptual understanding and critical thinking was a common complaint among students.
    * Placement Records: While some students secured decent placements, many others faced challenges in finding employment, citing poor placement records and inadequate corporate connections.

It appears that the course curriculum at JCT College requires significant revisions to address these concerns and ensure that students receive a balanced education that prepares them for the demands of the industry.

Q:   How effective is the placement cell for B.E. / B.Tech courses at JCT College of Engineering?

    A:
    {Source: B.E. / B.Tech students & alumni}

Effectiveness of Placement Cell for BE/BTech Courses at JCT College of Engineering

    * Poor performance: According to various students' reviews, the placement cell at JCT College of Engineering is ineffective. Only 3-5 recruiting companies visit the campus for placements, offering salary packages ranging between 2.5-6.2 LPA. This suggests that the college fails to provide adequate opportunities for its students.
    * Limited internship opportunities: Out of around 350-400 students in the department, only 13% received internships in reputed companies such as ONGC, CPCL, Cetex Petrochemicals, etc. This indicates a lack of effort from the placement cell to secure meaningful internships for students.
    * No improvement expected: Despite protests from students regarding poor hostel facilities and food, the college administration did not show significant improvements. Similarly, students do not anticipate any substantial changes in the placement scenario.
    * Lack of transparency: Reviews suggest that the college's claims about placements may be exaggerated, and the actual numbers might be lower than advertised. This raises concerns about the honesty and accountability of the placement cell.

Overall, the effectiveness of the placement cell for BE/BTech courses at JCT College of Engineering appears to be subpar, failing to provide satisfactory outcomes for students seeking employment after graduation.

JCT College of Engineering and Technology.
Placements: JCT College of Engineering and Technology, almost 90% of the students are placed every year, and the placement cell is pretty solid. The average package of the college is around 9LPA! Recruiters like JP Morgan, Amazon, and many other companies recruit on the basis of performance.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure includes the physical and organizational structures that support the teaching and learning process. This includes buildings, classrooms, libraries, laboratories, internet connectivity, and other facilities. Food is healthy and processed in a hygienic manner.
Faculty: Teachers are qualified, and their teaching is the best. College life is good. We experience many things and overcome them. Different courses are available, and many choose computer science and engineering, artificial intelligence, and data science.
Other: In the upcoming year, AI plays the major role, so I chose to study that. I think that practical-oriented classes like labs are more used. And obviously, college fests are rockable.

    I am satisfied with college.
Placements: Around 90% of students are placed in companies. The salary offered ranges from 3 LPA - 5 LPA. Companies like Royal Enfield, Kia, Titan, Royal Enfield, and Kone Elevator have provided internships with a stipend. Roles offered include quality inspection, testing, operator, late CNC, assembly, designing, and site work.
Infrastructure: Our college has been built with a nice infrastructure and provides good options to develop a career. Skilled staff and project work are provided, with all necessary facilities available. I am a day scholar, and my friends say that it is best while staying in the hostel, as activities are conducted.
Faculty: Teaching quality is good, and they provide short notes and important topics to help catch up with the syllabus easily. Course and practicals will prepare one to become an employee. Exams are easy for well-prepared students, so they will get good results, above 60%.
Other: Cultural celebrations like Onam and Pongal are the best modes of engagement.

    Good in facilities and infrastructure
Placements: Not upto the hype they give us upon admission the placement training is very average that most of the things we learn at the placement training is almost useless when we go for an off campus placement drive so dont trust the sugar coated words of placement by the management
Infrastructure: No wifi inside the college though it is located in a place where we find network issue but the labs got all the equipment that doesn't event work but for a showcase item to canvas students at the period of admission one of the worst classroom i have even been
Faculty: No staff for some of the subject no proper arrangement for the faculties in the college they just give the notes and insisted us to study on our own means they just come to the class for just a sake but also there are some staffs they just dedicated on their work of teaching

The college is good, but the hostel, mess, canteen, food and medical facilities are average.
Placements: The placement percentage is 90% and the top recruiters are TCS, Wipro, Parle, Britannia, and Tech Mahindra. Placements fee is 2000 for per annum. The internship program has 60 percent of students in Aavin, Eastern Masala and beverage companies. The package ranges from 75000–150000.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is average. Wi-Fi is available only for lab usage and office usage. All departments books are available in the library. Mess and canteen food are average and medical facilities are also average. Sports and games are conducted. The hostel is average and very strict for girls.
Faculty: Extracurricular activities: karate and sports like kabaddi and volleyball. The gym facilities are available and free for hostel students. The course curriculum is Food Science, Food Microbiology, Food safety and Food Chemistry. Anna University conducts semester exams.
Other: Food technology and research are the best things in my course. More events are conducted in the department: food day, egg day, and pizza day. Cultural festival celebrations are organized in college. Scholarships are available in various categories. Extracurricular activities like karate sports and clubs are there.

Absolutely satisfied with the faculty, but dissatisfied with the hostel.
Placements: 70% of the students in my course are placed in good companies with a good salary. 25k to 35k is the average package. IBM, Dell, and Infosys are the top recruiters. 95% of students got internships. VLSI designer is the top role offered in my course.
Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure are good for my department; there is no problem with that. But the hostel is not good; it is okay for counseling students because the fee structure is very low for the hostel. It is the worst for management students.
Faculty: The faculty was very good. The teachers were more helpful in helping students score higher marks in semester exams; they are well qualified with Ph.D. and they were more knowledgeable. The teaching quality was very good. Yes, it makes the students industry-ready. The college is autonomous, so the semester exams are very easy.
Other: I love the ECE department so I chose the ECE department .

Overall a little bit above average.
Placements: Half of the students got placed in good companies; actually, it's up to you because the ones with good academics are easily getting placements. You have to clear all your papers before last year. The highest LPA was 4.5, and the lowest was 1.5. TCS, Teach Mahindra are some of the recruiters. Almost all students get internships at many companies.
Infrastructure: The overall infrastructure is just average, classrooms are okay, and the lab is also average; don't expect it to be too good. The department is overall okay; CSE is accredited by the NBA, so it has a little higher value than other courses. CSE, Petrochemical, EEE, and Mech are accredited by the NBA. Im a dayscholar who uses the college bus facility. The college bus is available to most of the places in Palakkad, and the bus fee is not that much. My friends used to stay in hostels, and in their opinion and reviews, the hostel is average. Don't expect the food to be good; the food in the hostel is below average. The canteen is limited with a small menu, but the food there is good.
Faculty: The faculty in my department are well qualified and knowledgeable. They're actually helpful, and they're good at teaching, but the only problem I've encountered is that the faculty changes every semester or year, like some of the teachers are designing from college and new teachers are joining. The exams are conducted by the university, and they're a little difficult to clear. Pass percentage is above average.
Other: They won't conduct that many festivals, but the ones they do are too good. Check out the college's Instagram page. You can reach Coimbatore city within 30 minutes. Public transportation is available. The campus life is up to us. If you guys have a good friend circle, you can enjoy every moment of your college life.
