Good faculty and infrastructure, and one of the best colleges in Kolkata.

Placements: This is a college for general subject-oriented studies, so they don't have placements as much. But they tried to manage companies to come. Maximum students of this institution want to study more. So they attend many exams like IIT, JAM, GATE, NET, CUET and many more. After clearing this type of exam, they get a chance to study in IITs, NITs, IISERs and many well-known universities.

Infrastructure: Every classroom has multiple fans, lights, ACs, and projectors. There are separate computer labs in every department. Science labs are pretty good. Every classroom has Wi-Fi routers. Canteen food is budget-friendly and also tasty. There are medical rooms, counseling rooms, game rooms, gyms and many other facilities.

Faculty: Teachers are very helpful. They always supported us whenever we needed them, both mentally and academically. Semester exams are really tough; you need to be focused from day one. Although a single paper can't decide the future, you have to study hard for average to good marks.

I am dissatisfied because of faculty members but it has good infrastructure.

Placements: The placement cell in Lady Brabourne College in the Mathematics department is average. Companies like TCS and Cognizant do visit, but only a small portion of students get placed. Most of the students do not sit for placements, as they go for higher studies. From each batch, maximum 12-13 students sit for placements, and only 4-5 students (maximum) get placed. Mostly they hire for the role of a graphic designer (PT level) ( specialisation required in visual communication and electronic media). The average salary offered is Rs. 30,000 per month. There are no internships in our course from our college. You can apply for them off-campus.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is quite good. Our department is placed in a newly constructed RC building in the entire college including maths, economics and statistics department. We have air-conditioned classrooms. In our college, we have a central library for all students from all departments, and each department has its electronic library where you can E-read the books. The libraries have a good collection of books, and you can issue 2 books together. There is a complaint box to drop any complaints regarding the campus. All the classrooms are well spaced and are always kept clean. We have 3 classrooms and 1 maths lab with more than 25 computers. Wi-Fi doesn't work as the connectivity is very poor. Each department has two separate washrooms for teachers and students. Hostel infrastructure is not that good, and the quality of the food served is very poor. Each room is shared by 3-4 students. But overall, our college has 4 canteens, 3 are on campus and 1 is in the hostel. The food served in the canteens is good, healthy and hygienic. There is no infirmary in our college. We have a small ground where each year the annual sports take place. But due to lack of space in the ground, only a few activities take place. But invitations do come from other colleges where you can participate in their grand sports day celebrations.

Faculty: Teachers in our college are quite helpful and knowledgeable, but the teaching quality is not that good. Merely 1-2 teachers of our department teach in a proper manner, and most of them do not even complete their syllabus on time. Mostly teachers themselves are not interested in taking the classes, and even if they do, one hardly understands what they are teaching irrespective of how bright a student is. Our college is affiliated to CU, so this course curriculum is relevant, but still, one hardly gets industry-ready after passing from this college because there are no on-campus internship proposals provided. But, Lady Brabourne College is one of the top women colleges. Faculty members might not be that good, and the hostel is average, but joining good tuitions and working hard may help you in getting good marks. Because other colleges under CU may not even offer these much of facilities as LBC provides.

Other: I chose this course becuase mathematics is an excellent course as it has endless opportunities after graduation as mathematics is required in every field of life. But one should think twice before joining this college for this respective course because of poor faculty members. Department fresher's and farewell take place once you join and leave the college respectively. College fest called Kaleidoscope is held every year in the month of Jan/Feb and celebrities such as Anupam Roy and other great singers visit our college during the fest. Variety of events such as fashion shows, quizzes, drama, dance, and music performances happen during the two-day fest. Our campus is very beautiful, and widely-spread and filled with lush greenery and has well-maintained gardens. Campus life is good as you can sit with your friends on the green grasses in your free time or in the common room or food courts which are well spaced. Scholarships are provided to the financially challenged students or to the ones who have scored excellent marks in their 12th boards. The highest scorer in mathematics in their board exams among all students of the department who came from WB board was given all the 3 years Hons course books for free. Students of other boards were not given this facility. Kanyashree is given, and also lunch boxes are given to the extreme financially challenged students. Apart from annual function, sports day seminars/webinars, college fest is arranged, and there aren't such extra-curricular activities taking place in the college. Other than the faculty members, it gives you a rich college life experience as it has good infrastructure and facilities. You can go to the library in your free time to study, and mostly CU toppers are from this college.
