Q:   How are BSc placements at Maitreyi College?

    A:

Hello Nishar Ahmed, placements or now turning out to be the most important criteria for students to see admission in any college. Normally speaking placements were earlier taking place in professional courses like engineering, management etc. But the trends are shifting and even arts graduate students too are now getting placed. As a result even Maitreyi college has a well functioning placements cell which makes all out efforts to bring in recruiters during the season. More than 200 students got placed after graduation however only about 10% of them were from the BSc stream while others were from commerce and arts. College report places on record that more than 70 companies came for recruiting the students and the average package also saw an enhancement by about 15% as compared with previous years. the highest package reported was ?21LPA while average package was ?5.3LPA.

One can see that things are improving and as the years role by, more students are likely to get placed with better packages.

    Best wishes to you.

Q:   How successful is the placement cell in securing jobs for B.Sc. students at Maitreyi College?

    A:
    {Source: B.Sc. students & alumni}

    Successful Placement Cell

Unfortunately, the placement cell in Maitreyi College failed to secure any jobs for B.Sc. students. According to several students and alumni, the placement cell notified them about companies visiting the campus, but hardly anyone registered for placements in their stream.

Some students mentioned that even though the placement cell brought in companies, the job profiles offered were not related to their field of study. Others stated that while the placement cell tried hard, there weren't many employment opportunities for Science students, leading to a low placement rate.

Only a few students reported receiving marketing internships or subject matter expert roles, with an average salary package of around 3 LPA being offered.

Despite these challenges, the placement cell is recognised as one of the top 10 in the country and organizes an annual placement fair called Envision, which attracts top-level companies.

Overall, while the placement cell's performance was disappointing for B.Sc. students, it is acknowledged as a dedicated team that brings valuable internship opportunities to students.

    Bullet Points:
    * No placements secured for B.Sc. students
    * Limited job opportunities for Science students
    * Average salary package of around 3 LPA
    * Placement cell is recognised as one of the top 10 in the country
    * Annual placement fair called Envision attracts top-level companies

My college is really good. I would suggest it to anyone who wants to join.
Placements: If any strength is called 7.5 CGPA, then it is a possibility to get placement in my department. Last year, a girl’s package was 10 Lacs per annum in my course. The teachers are really good, and the teaching level of the teachers is really good. They can teach everything that comes in the exam.
Infrastructure: My college provides Wi-Fi, a library, labs, etc. In the library, if I want to search for the books of mathematics, then I can easily find those books. In the computer labs, the Wi-Fi is always available, and if I want to use my phone with the Wi-Fi, then I can use it.
Faculty: The teachers in my department are really helpful. If I want any help in midnight, then I can call that teacher and take help. The difficulty level of the semester exam is moderate, not easy, not hard. In the semester exam, teachers share the previous year's question papers.
Other: I am pursuing a B.Sc. Mathematics Honours from Maitri College because I am interested in mathematics and want to do something like a Master's or a government exam. That's why I chose this course.

A real glimpse of our Maitreyi college.
Placements: Maitreyi College offers internships and placements. Seminars are held from time to time to spread awareness regarding that among students. As I am a life science student, my college provides research internships in chemistry and zoology. These are usually unpaid, but a student gets skills and experience through them. Thus, yes, it is the right place.
Infrastructure: I am in the life science course. Our college provides proper guidance and study material in all subjects. Apart from that, classrooms are fully furnished. Students can study sitting in the library, where almost all books are available. The professors are so supportive. They are regular at teaching. Classes are rarely delayed or missed.
Faculty: The professors are well-qualified and give their best to reach and impart education to students. They always ensure that the syllabus is completed on time, and in case of some issues, faculty sort out the matter as soon as possible. Teachers are liberal. They listen to students' doubts and queries regarding the syllabus in the best ways.

It's average, infrastructure is very good, and facilities are also good, etc.
Placements: In my course, there were no placements as we come from a science background. However, many internships are available, although they are not paid. These internships help improve CVs and resumes by offering certificates. Only selected students are able to participate in these internships.
Infrastructure: There are proper classes held every day. The labs and classrooms are very good, and there are seminar halls and an amphitheater as well. The overall infrastructure is good, with Wi-Fi available. The canteen food is affordable, though the taste is average. Hostel fees are too high compared to the accommodation provided.
Faculty: Most of the faculty in our college and course is good, but a negative point is the partiality among students. The exams are of a normal level, mostly based on previous year questions, and about 90% of students pass. However, in internal assessments, marks are often given only to selected students.
Other: The course is quite hectic, with classes running until 5:30 PM. The regularity of classes is a positive aspect. Improvements could be made in the professors' behavior and teaching methods. All cultural activities and fests are conducted once a year, and they are full of fun.

Great college with amazing faculty and massive future options.
Placements: Life sciences is more of an educational course than a professional one. Therefore, very few students from the course get placed as most of them go on to pursue Masters in their interested field. The highest package offered to students in 2023 was INR 23.50 Lacs in life sciences. The average salary was INR 5.70 Lacs, and the median salary was INR 5.30 Lacs. However, a huge number of students can get internships from the college as it is also a center for research.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure available for the course is top notch. The labs have all the facilities with fresh materials required. Classrooms are well furnished with projectors as well as other facilities. The library also includes all the required books and is fully AC. A computer lab is also provided in the library that can give students their time for practice sessions. Printing facility also available. Hostel for girls is provided with all the facilities. Great food in the hostel mess as well as canteen. The canteen is affordable to all starting from ₹10. Medical room with a doctor and nurse is available anytime. As well as the college provides sports facilities with a basketball court, football ground, handball ground, and volleyball ground. However, other sports are also encouraged. The college is beautiful with a large ecosystem consisting of various animals as well as plant species. It has very beautiful park and variety of fruits are even grown.
Faculty: The teachers are well qualified and super helpful. The quality of teaching is top notch. The course includes theory as well as high practical knowledge which makes students research ready. The semester exams are conducted well on time with a strict environment. Exams are moderate on the level and the passing percentage also goes around 99.9%.
Other: Choosing this course for Science students can be very beneficial as it includes all the three branches of Science Zoology Chemistry and Botany. Students can build a career further in any of the field while honours students can't. The new education policy also allows students to study another subject like Computer Science or Political Science with your course and have a minor degree in that too. Everything is well structured while the office administration can be a little rude sometimes and may take time for your request, which can be improved. The college is lovely about events as there are multiple events on going each year time to time. The very first event begin with the orientation for the new batch then the freshers. Diwali Mela and the fest Rhapsody are amazing with an amazing crowd and breath taking performances. There are multiple societies already provided in the college which help students to grow their extra curricular skills. The best part is that the college itself provides scholarship as well as a freeship to the economical weaker students on application.

Placements: The placement cell of this college is very active. Many students secure internships and placements in marketing and sales. The arts and commerce courses have good placement opportunities. For science courses, students mainly participate in summer and annual research internships.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is excellent, with a beautiful and well-maintained garden that looks even more mesmerizing during the monsoon. The college provides proper Wi-Fi facilities. The canteen serves hygienic food at reasonable prices and maintains cleanliness.
Faculty: The faculty conducts regular classes and delivers quality content if students pay attention. Pursuing a B.Sc. at this college helped me explore various fields, acquire many skills beyond the curriculum, and receive proper counseling for my career path.
Other: The college excels in extracurricular activities with numerous societies, fests, and events occurring almost every month.
