October 21, 2021: The MDI Gurgaon - Management Development Institute has established a new Centre of Excellence on Digital Economy, Cryptocurrencies, and Cyber Security (DECCS) with the goal of fostering academic debate and research in emerging technology fields.
The Center's mission is to investigate the digital economy's social, economic, organizational, managerial, and political ramifications. It will serve as a think tank on topics relating to the digital economy, cybersecurity, and cryptocurrency, with a focus on India.
"The time is ideal for establishing DECCS because October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month," stated Lt Gen (Dr) Rajesh Pant, the Prime Minister's Office's National Cybersecurity Coordinator, during the Centre's virtual inaugural ceremony on October 18.
Pant remarked that the Covid-19 pandemic has thrown the security architecture on its head, speaking on the topic "Challenges for Cyber Security Post Pandemic." "The pandemic came as a complete shock," he remarked. "It hit us like a ton of bricks. There was no control and no knowledge of how things were progressing. The case study of India should be considered as a classic whole-of-nation strategy and the manner in which we invoked our National Disaster Management Authority Act of 2005 by the rest of the world."
When the National Disaster Management Act was enacted, Pant added, people realised that a cybersecurity specialist needed to be on hand for immediate response in order for the systems to work. Cybersecurity became a part of the critical services at that point.
Cyber crooks are becoming smarter by the day, he claims, and are preying on people's emotions. He mentioned that 1.24 billion Indians had signed up for the Aadhar Card scheme.
At the same time, he claimed that India has risen from 47th to 10th place in the Global Cyber Security Index. He noted that the infrastructure for Digital India was put in place in 2015, and that the Union Home Ministry now has an Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre. He went on to say that the infrastructure built for Digital India since 2015 "came to our aid when we really needed it during the pandemic."
Pant stated that the Union Home Ministry now has an Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre to combat cybercrime. In industries such as power, telecommunications, transportation, and banking, it became necessary to protect critical information infrastructure (CII).
"In order to defend the CII, Industry 4.0, and other emerging technologies, the National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre was established." That's where we concentrated on risk analysis to ensure that our cyber physical systems were not harmed," he explained.
Dark web monitoring, he said, has become a top concern since the dark web is where a lot of cryptocurrency transactions take place.
MDI Gurgaon To Accept GMAT Scores For Admission To Its PGDM Courses
October 18, 2021: MDI Gurgaon - Management Development Institute, a pioneer institute for management education, consulting, high-quality research, and executive development, has announced that the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAT), the administrator of the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), will now accept GMAT scores for admission to its PGDM, PGDM–HRM, and PGDM–IB programmes. For its PGDM programme, MDI Murshidabad will now accept GMAT marks.
"We are thrilled that an eminent university like MDI will now accept GMAT scores for admission to its flagship PGDM programmes," said Gaurav Srivastava, GMAC's Regional Director for South Asia. “The GMAT exam is the most well-known, well-respected, and widely accepted predictor of academic performance in management degrees. It aids admissions officers in making "proper fit" judgments for MBA and master's degrees in business. We are certain that include the GMAT in the admissions process would assist MDI in establishing a diverse and successful classroom.", he continued.
The GMAT is a more reliable predictor of achievement than other accessible data, such as the college GPA, according to research. GMAC immediately launched and evolved the GMAT online exam from an interim to a permanent option as an alternative to taking the exam at a test facility after the Covid-19 outbreak broke out. For their flagship programmes, nearly 150 top B schools in India recognise the GMAT score.

The class of 2021 consists of 12 scholars, five of whom will pursue the Fellow Programme in Management and seven of whom will pursue the Executive Fellow Programme in Management.
MDI has a thriving research culture, and its Fellowship Programme is something the institute is proud of. The curriculum is critical in fostering researchers' ability to think across management's disciplinary boundaries. The institute encourages rigorous interdisciplinary research in modern management domains as part of the curriculum, which will enable students to produce scientific knowledge and contribute to management practice. MDI Gurgaon has awarded a ‘Fellowship in Management' to 69 FPM and 26 EFPM scholars so far.
For the attendees, the ceremony was a thought-provoking experience as they got a taste of what lies ahead in their lives and careers.
“It's crucial to know what you're going to learn while you're at MDI,” stated Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Chakrabarti, Director, MDI Gurgaon, as he shed light on the new chapter of academic life that the students will be embarking on. “Let me inform you that now is the greatest moment to hone your research skills. In today's fast-paced corporate world, speed is crucial, but instead of sprinting the marathon, learn as much as you can. The most fruitful research is that which employs an interdisciplinary approach. Instead of becoming stuck in a rut, develop a variety of abilities, such as content writing and how to explain your research point so that your reader is persuaded. Because data is at the heart of any organisation, it's critical to understand coding as well as the most up-to-date management tools and practices.", he continued
