No, you can not get into National Institute of Design (NID) Bengaluru without appearing for the DAT exam. The institute offers a full-time degree in MDes at the postgraduate level. Q:   I have done Class 12 from NIOS. Can I apply for NID DAT 2025?

A: 

Yes, you can certainly apply for NID DAT 2025 if you have completed your senior secondary schooling (Class 12) from NIOS. The basic eligibility requires students to pass Classa 12 or equivalent from a recognised board. Those who have completed their senior secondary exam from National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) with at least five subjects are eligible for NID Design Aptitutde Test 2025. Students should note that all details entered by the candidate in the application form will be verified at the time of counselling. In case of any discrepancy, the candidate may be disqualified.

Q:   What is the application fee for NID DAT?

A: 

The application fee of NID DAT 2025 for the B. Des for General, General-EWS, OBC-NCL candidates is INR 3,000. SC, ST, PwD candidates only ned to pay INR 1,500. However note that the application fees for overseas candidates seeking admission to supernumerary seats is INR 5000. In case of the M.Des programme, the application fees for General, General-EWS, OBC-NCL candidates applying for one discipline is INR 3,000. If two disciplines are chosen, the application fee is INR 6000. Meanwhile, SC, ST, PwD candidate need to pay INR 1,500 for one discipline, and INR 3000 for two disciplines.

Q:   I have passed senior secondary exam from NIOS. Am I eligible for NID DAT 2024?

A: 

If you have passed senior secondary exam from National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) with minimum five subjects, then you are eligible for NID DAT 2024. The National Institute of Design recognizes boards like CBSE, IB, ICSE, or equivalent.

The candidate must make sure that they meet the eligibility criteria before filling out the NID DAT 2024 application form.

Q:   When will the NID DAT 2025 Prelims exam be conducted?

A: 

The National Institute of Design (NID) will conduct the DAT Prelims exam on January 5, 2024.

The candidate needs to report for the exam at 8 am. Gates closing time is 9.30 am. 

The B.Des exam will be held from 10 am - 1 pm; meanwhile, the M.Des exam will be held from 10 am - 12.30 am.

The DAT Prelims for the B.Des programme will be conducted in a paper-and-pencil/pen mode. The question paper may  incude both textual and visual questions. Other details like duration of the exam, marking scheme, etc. will be published in the DAT Prelims admit card.

The DAT Prelims exam for the M.Des programme will be conducted offline and include a mix of objective and subjective questions. The paper will have a total of 100 questions.

Yes, students who have done Diploma are eligible to apply for the MDes course through NID DAT 2025. However, students must fulfil certain criteria prior to applying. Interested candidates must meet the following conditions for MDes admission through NID Design Aptitude Test 2025:

Master in design at the national institute of design.
Placements: At this college, 50% of the students get placements in the master of design course. The highest package offered in our college was 12 LPA. The lowest package offered was 5 LPA with an average package of 3-7 LPA. Top recruiters in the college were Lavson Auto, Apollo, TVS, Ceat etc.
Infrastructure: The college has a well maintained and developed infrastructure. Facilities provided by the college are good. Wi-Fi, labs, library, canteen etc. are facilities given to the students. Hostel facility is also available in the college. Food available in the mess was good to eat.
Faculty: Faculty of this college us helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. The teaching quality offered is good. It makes the students industry ready. Course curriculum followed here is relevant. Semester exams in this college are not hard to pass.

A: 

While filling out the NID application form, candidates have to enter their personal, academic, and personal information. They are also required to upload a photograph and signature, and caste Certificate if applicable. In case of candidates seeking admission under reserved categories, they also need to upload a category Certificate. PwD category candidates will also have to upload the relevant Certificate.

The category and PwD certificates should be in PDF format and max 2 MB.

Meanwhile, the photograph and signature should in JPG/JPEG format and within 75-100 KB.

The fee structure of NID, Bengaluru is expensive as compared to the other design Institutes. The fee ranges between 1,80,000- 2,00,000 for the 1st semester in undergraduate course. Students have to pay the security fees of 10,000 at the starting of the course. Some fees like the security fees is refundable but the tuition fees is non refundable.
