Review for National Power Training Institute.
Placements: MBA (Power Management) is a sectoral MBA about electricity sector of India and overseas. Therefore companies exclusively working in the sector visit the campus instead of hiring talents from colleges providing general MBA courses.
During 2013-14, placements were uncertain. Only 80% students got placed. Big 4 like PwC, Deloitte and KPMG, Tata Power, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Company, TCS, Feedback, WTMA, Torrent Power & Thermax were the major companies which recruited students as management trainee/ assistant managers/ consultants.
100% students got placed for the internship. The highest stipend paid was Rs. 8,000, the lowest was zero.
Infrastructure: NPTI, being a part of the Ministry of Power, enjoys just enough access to various infrastructures as an MBA student needs. Wi-Fi enabled hostels and a separate IT lab aided the students in taking a quick peek into the ongoing developments around. Each hostel room could accommodate two students. Rooms were furnished with attached washroom cum bathroom.
Students run their own mess with the help of 2-3 manpower. Since students themselves are stakeholders in the mess, each one of them would help in deciding the menu. By consensus, 3-4 students would form mess committee to ensure quality and hygienic food and a clean mess.
A dispensary is present on the campus that ensures 24 hours medical facility to students.
Faculty: MBA course at NPTI is a mix of a general MBA subjects like marketing, finance, HR, business research etc. and power subjects such as electricity regulation, electricity generation, electricity transmission, electricity distribution and renewable energy. Therefore we had faculty members each specialising in these various subjects. Guest faculty members from the power sector, regulation, finance were invited very frequently- on an average every week- to keep the students abreast with industry practices and developments.
A visit to Rajghat Power Plant for the understanding of the working of thermal power plants are conducted yearly. Students would also attend conferences on renewable, coal, smart grid, etc.

Other: The program is targeted towards fresh and practicing engineers and is a unique golden opportunity for the Management of Power Utilities to groom bright executives with engineering background who are expected to move to key positions in the near future.
In addition to the inputs provided in regular MBA programs, this 'Program with a Difference' lends special emphasis on specific Power Sector issues and ethos to give extra strength to the Indian Power Sector engineers to steer Power Sector of the country in the challenging times ahead.
The curriculum design and the learning process emphasize the development of students' skills and abilities to apply management theories and concepts to live problems of electricity industry.

I am satisfied with this college. ROI is good since the fee is Rs 5 Lacs.
Placements: There were almost 100% placements for senior batches. Currently, nearly 50% of the batch got placed. The highest salary package offered was of 14 LPA by Deloitte company. The lowest salary package offered was 5 LPA and the average salary package offered was 6.5 LPA. Companies such as TCS, Deloitte, TPDDL, ABPS Infra, Enincon, visited the campus. Top roles offered were regulatory and business development. Every student of the college got an internship from college. The highest stipend offered was Rs. 15,000 per month and the lowest stipend offered was Rs. 3,000 per month. There was a placement cell in the college, which was very efficient and effective.
Infrastructure: The college has many facilities. There are Wi-Fi, labs, library, medical facilities, sports and games facilities available on the campus. There is no canteen in the campus, and there is an excellent quality of labs in the college. There are inadequate classrooms as it is a government college. The MBA students have a different mess which is run by students, and it is the reason the quality of food is good. There are average hostel rooms, and there is also Wi-Fi facility in the hostel.
Faculty: Teachers here were very qualified and knowledgeable. Teachers here had a good experience in the power sector. Teachers here used method was based on presentation. The student to faculty ratio was 60:1. The college provided a lot of industry exposure since we visited a lot of different technologies power plants. As the college had a high network of alumni, nobody faces any difficulty after joining the job. Alumni regularly visited the campus and shared their experience of the industry.
Other: The college conducts sports and business fest. The campus has less crowd as people are not aware of this course. College is well-connected with the road, and one can easily reach the metro station by paying as low as Rs 50. DLF provides the scholarships up to Rs 50,000 for top two highest scored students.
