NLET 2025 Eligibility Criteria

The candidates appearing for the law entrance exam should fulfil the eligibility criteria for their respective course as under: 

Course level Eligibility Criteria
Five-year integrated LLB course
  • Candidates should have passed Class 12th or equivalent from any state board or national board of education.
  • They should have obtained at least 45% marks if belonging to general category, 42% marks if belonging to OBC category and 40% marks if belonging to SC/ ST category.
  • The candidates appearing in the Class 12th examination in the admission year are also eligible to apply for NLET exam (they should qualify the exam and submit the proof at the time of final admission).
  • The age limit criteria for general category candidates is not more than 20 year and for SC/ ST category candidates, it is up to 22 years of age. 
Three-Year LLB
  • Candidates should have a graduation degree in any stream from a recognised institute/ university. 
  • They should have secured at least 45% marks in aggregate, 42% marks for OBC category, and 40% marks if belonging to SC/ ST category.
  • There is no age limit for admission to this course.
LLM course
  • Candidates should have an LLB degree or five-year integrated LLB degree from a BCI recognised law institute/ university. 
  • They should have secured at least 50% marks in aggregate and 45% marks if belonging to SC/ ST category.

  • Candidates will be awarded one mark for each correct answer of Question number 1 to 180.
  • Whereas, question number 181 and 182 carry 10 marks each.
  • There is no negative marking scheme for wrong attempts in case of objective-type of questions. Moreover, no marks will be awarded or deducted for questions not attempted by the candidates.
  • The negative marking scheme for long answers type question is not clear.
