The NEST 2025 application process for the academic session 2025-26 will tentatively start in the third week of March 2025. Candidates who wish to participate in the NISER and UM-DAE CEBS the two exam conducting authority of the NEST will open the correction window for candidates who want to make corrections to their already filled Application forms. Previously the NEST Exam registration process started on April 3, 2024, therefore the chances of it starting in the same timeline are high. 

It is advisable for candidates to check out the eligibility criteria before they decide to appear for the NEST Exam. Once, candidates know they are eligible to appear for the exam they should stay updated with the NEST important dates to plan out their preparation time accordingly.  Earlier the exam conducting authorities released the NEST 2025 application form online on the official website. Previous year the NEST exam notification was released by NISER and UM-DAE CEBS on March 10, 2025, in online mode.

 

 

Q:   What is the eligibility for NEST exam?

A:

The NEST 2024 eligibility criteria is defined on both basis age wise as well education wise.

Admissions in NISER, Bhubaneswar and UM-DAE CEBS, Mumbai are done based on a candidate's score in the NEST exam. Candidates who have passed Class XII from the Science stream are eligible to apply for the NEST exam. 

Candidates should pass Class XII in Science stream from a recognised board in India with at least 60% aggregate marks (55% for SC/ ST/ PWD category candidates). Candidates should have passed Class XII either last year or will pass this year.

Q:   Is NEST 2024 registration date extended?

Yes, the authorities extended the last date to apply online for NEST 2024 exam. Earlier the last date for NEST 2024 registration was May 31, 2024, but now applicants can fill the online form till June 3, 2024. 

After the NEST 2024 registration is over, students will be able to make the correction.

  Step 1: Visit the official website of NEST 2025

Candidates will have to visit the official website of the NEST exam admissions 2025. The entire application process for NEST 2025 would be conducted online only. Here, candidates need to click on the 'Online Application' button and create their login credentials. Some important points that aspirants need to keep in mind when filling NEST 2025 application form are mentioned below:

  1. Do not use the tab key to move between fields for entry of data. Use a mouse instead.

  2. Fields marked with the sign * are mandatory.

  3. After details have been filled then click on the 'Register' button to proceed.

  4. After successfully completing the registration process, aspirants will receive their User ID and Password on their registered mobile number and email ID.

Note: Candidates are recommended to use the following secure browser for a better view:

  1. Internet Explorer (version 10 to 11).
  2. Google Chrome(version 73 to 96).

Step 2: Register for NEST 2025

Candidates are supposed to first register for the NEST exam on the official website of the exam. The NEST 2025 registration is provided by the below-mentioned details:

  • Full name

  • Gender

  • Date of birth

  • Mobile number

  • Class 10 Roll Number/Registration Number

Once all the details are filled in, applicants have to click on the ‘Register’ button. Upon doing this, an email and SMS would be sent to the candidate's registered email ID and mobile number, respectively. The SMS would contain details such as the login ID and password for the NEST application form.

Step 3: Fill Details in NEST Online Form

After candidates successfully register for the NEST exam, they need to click on the verification link sent to their registered email ID. Once candidates do this they will be further redirected to the official website of the exam wherein they have to log in using the credentials mentioned in the email sent to them by exam authorities. Thereafter, candidates would need to enter the below-mentioned details in their NEST 2025 application form:

  • Nationality

  • Category

  • Address (permanent and present)

  • Parents' name

  • NEST exam centre (up to five cities on a preference basis)

  • Educational qualification

  • Percentage/Aggregate marks obtained in qualifying exam

Step 4: Upload important documents

Candidates then need to upload the required documents with their NEST 2025 online form. Documents that will be uploaded with the application form includes:

  • Class 10 mark sheet/ report card/ certificate

  • Class 12 mark sheet/ report card/ certificate

  • A digital copy of the photograph

  • Scanned signature

Step 5: Pay the NEST 2025 Application Fee

 After the documents were being uploaded, candidates were now supposed to pay the application fee for the NEST online on the official website of the exam. Candidates could pay the NEST 2025 exam fee via Netbanking/ Credit Card/ Debit Card.

Step 6: Take the print of the NEST 2025 Registration Form

Once the process will be completed and the fee will be successfully paid, candidates need to verify all the information and submit their application form. A summary page would then be generated where an option would come to take out a print of the NEST 2025 online form. NEST 2025 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria are the most important thing to go through to validate whether a candidate is eligible to appear for an exam or not. Age limit

General and OBC category candidates born on or after August 1, 2004, are eligible for admission to the Integrated MSc programme of NISER/CEBS. The age limit is relaxed by five years for SC / ST / Divyangjan candidates. 

Subjects

Applicants should have Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics as mandatory subjects in class 12.

Minimum aggregate in 12 Class

General category candidates must secure at least 60 per cent marks in aggregate or equivalent grade.

Candidates belonging to scheduled castes (SC), scheduled tribes (ST) and Divyangjan categories must have 55 per cent in aggregate or equivalent grade in the class 12 examination.

Candidates who satisfy all the following criteria are eligible to appear for the exam.

(a) Candidates who secure a position in the NEST merit list. Please refer to the official brochure for the rules of merit list preparation.
(b) Candidates who cleared the class 12 board exam in the science stream in the years 2023 or 2024 or have appeared in 2025 from any recognised Higher Secondary Education Board in India.
(c) Secure the passing percentage marks as per their category. 
(d) Born on or after August 01, 2004. The age limit is relaxed by five years for SC/ST/Divyangjan students.

NEST 2025 Application Correction Window

Candidates must be aware of the registration date for the NEST Exam along with the application correction window opening and closing date to make any corrections, once the official notification is out on the official site. The online correction window will start after the successful submission of the application form. 

Students have the liberty to correct or update the information on the NEST 2025 Application form. Candidates can reify or update their details in the NEST 2025 application form as mentioned below:

Step 2: Here, candidates need to log in using the application ID and password to update details.

Q:   What is the minimum score to qualify for each section of the NEST exam?

A:

The exam authority has not mentioned any section-wise cut off marks for the NEST exam. Hence there is no minimum qualifying or passing marks in the exam. 

However, out of the four sections - the best three scores of the subject section i.e. Biology, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry will be taken for preparation of the merit list.

Hence applicants need to try to solve the questions from all four sections as the section from which applicants will score less will be ommiited and will not be consideration for preparing the merit list.

Q:   How NEST Test Centres are allotted?

A:

The test centres of NEST exam will be allotted on the basis of number of applicants opting for a particular test city/town. It is to be noted that NEST 2024 committee reserves the right to cancel or add any of the test cities without prior notice to applicants.

The final allocation of NEST Test Centres will be mentioned on the admit card, Applicants can not make any request to change the address or venue in it once it is decided.

While filling the NEST 2024 online form, candidates need to ensure that they uploaded the photograph in the format prescribed by exam authorities. The digital photograph uploaded by candidates need to be in JPEG format and should not have exceeded 80 KB. 

If all the image specifications are correct then also applicants need to check their internet failing which their registration process can be cancelled.
