NEST NISER Seat Allocation 2024 was released on the official site on August 12, 2024. Students who appeared for this year's NEST 2024 Entrance Exam must visit the official site to check out the seat allocation.

NEST CEBS 2024 Second Merit List release date was August 8, 2024, at 6:00 PM, on the official website. Students can visit the official website or they can directly download it from here.

The last date of the Admission portal for the submission of payment for the NEST CEBS 2024 Second Round of Counselling was August 9, 2024, by 11:00 PM. 

The fee submission date for admission to NEST CEBS for the first round was August 7, 2024, by 11:00 PM. The NEST 2024 Counselling for the first admission round was scheduled for August 6, 2024, at the NISER Campus, Jatani, at 9:00 AM. This round was crucial for those who were allotted seats at the NISER Jatani campus. Candidates were supposed to complete the NEST NISER 2024 First round of admission and need to report in person because if a student fails to do so their seat is forfeited. 

The NEST Exam conducting body has released the UG First Round of Counselling apart from BVSC and AH has been released on the official website, candidates can visit the website or download the pdf from this page under the NEST Counselling Process. 

The National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) and the Centre for Excellence in Basic Science (CEBS) have released the NEST Counselling Schedule 2024. Students can visit the official website to check out all the important events and details to prepare themselves accordingly. Students who took NEST 2024 should also know that the last date for NEST CEBS Counselling registration was July 29, 2024, by 8:00 AM (IST).

NEST NISER 2024 Merit List was released on July 16, 2024, and the NEST NISER Counselling Process started on July 17, 2024. Students who want to take admission to NISER and want to secure their seats for NISER must know that the last date to submit their Expression of Interest (EoI) was July 24, 2024. Candidates who made it to the NEST 2024 Merit List received an email with the EoI form. 

NEST exam counselling will be required for admission to the NEST-approved colleges. Applicants who pass the NEST 2024 exam by securing the NEST cutoff marks decided by the authorities then they will be eligible to take admission.   

NEST admissions at NISER & UM-DAE CEBS are done through NEST NISER & NEST UM-DAE CEBS Counselling. Candidates will have to do online registration to participate in the counselling process. NISER will release a notification for the counselling process. 

Candidates meeting the Section-wise Minimum Admissible Score (SMAS) and Minimum Admissible Percentile (MAP) will be ranked in the merit list of NISER and CEBS. The shortlisted candidates will have to participate in the counselling process of NEST 2024 as per the schedule shared by NISER and CEBS. NISER will also release the seat allocation status after the release of the admission queue. Candidates can view the first seat allocation status of NISER Institute once it is out.

Q:   What is the cut off percentile for NEST 2024 exam?

A:

The Minimum Admissible Percentile (MAP) for admission for NEST 2024 exam is 95 percentile for the General category, 90 percentile for the OBC category and 75 percentile for SC/ ST/ Divyangjan (PwD).

A candidate scoring less than the MAP would not be allotted any merit rank and would not be deemed eligible for admission, even if he/she secures SMAS in all sections.

Q:   When will the counselling notification of NEST 2024 be released?

A:

NISER might release the NEST 2024 counselling notification in the second week of July, 2024 tentatively after the declaration of results.

The exact dates of counselling are not out in the official notication so far. The authorities will release the schedule in online mode on the official website. Hence applicants are advised to keep checking the official website or Shiksha page to be updated about the event of counselling schedule realted dates.

Q:   What are the documents required for NEST 2024 counselling?

A:

Candidates should carry the NEST 2024 application form, admit card, scorecard as well as academic qualification and reserved category documents.

Both original and photocopy of the documents should be carried to the counselling venue. Applicants should also carry at least four passport-size photographs with the documents while appearing in the NEST exam counselling.

If any additional document will be required then it will be mentioned in the NEST 2024 counselling schedule.

Q:   What is mode for NEST exam counselling?

A:

The NEST exam counselling will be done in online mode only. The exam conducting authority will release the dates of counselling in official notification after the conclusion of the exam.

NEST 2024 Counselling Process

The UG First Round of Counselling apart from BVSC and AH has been released on the official website, candidates can visit the website or directly download it from here. 

UG (Apart from BVSC and AH) First Round of Counselling 

All shortlisted candidates will be allotted seats in their respective courses at NISER and CEBS based on their respective merit lists. It may be noted that there is no joint counselling for the NEST exam. The process for NEST counselling is as mentioned below: 

  • All qualifying candidates first need to register on the online counselling portal of the exam/institutes. Thereafter, candidates have to download as well as print forms such as Student Personal Details Undertaking by the student and parent/guardian, Student Medical History and Format of Affidavit [anti-ragging] by Student and Parent/Guardian.
  • The first round of counselling continues until all seats are filled or the modified merit list is exhausted, whichever is earlier.
  • After NEST counselling round 1, each participating institute prepares a waiting list.
  • Admission of candidates whose names appear on the waiting list is done through the second round of counselling.
  • The second counselling is not joint counselling.

In the counselling session, the attendance of all candidates present at all the venues is taken into account. Based on the attendance of candidates and the original merit list declared earlier, a modified merit list is prepared. Seats are allotted to candidates at NISER and CBS strictly based on the modified list.

The last date for the NISER NEST 2024 First Round Seat Allotment list was July 25, 2024, which was released on the official website, but candidates can directly download it from the table given below.

The NEST 2024 Merit List was uploaded to the official NEST website on July 16, 2024. Candidates who appeared for this exam must visit the official website. Also, the NEST 2024 counselling date to submit the Expression of Interest (EoI) was July 17, 2024. The last date to submit the EoI was July 24, 2024 (6 PM); a crucial step so that the students are not counted in the "Not Interested," category. The final EoI list was uploaded on the official website on July 25, 2024. Also, students who cleared the merit list received an email from the admission queue that will include a link to fill in the details in the admission form for the 1st round of admission.

Q:   For how many seats NEST 2024 exam is being conducted?

A:

This year NEST 2024 exam will be conducted for a total of 257 seats. Out of them 200 seats will be for NISER and 57 will be for CEBS. 

Out of the total seats 101 seats will be for General categories and remaining for other categories in NISER while 23 seats will be for General category and remaining for other categories in CEBS.

NISER Counselling Process 2024

Students who successfully made it to the NISER Merit List 2024 should be aware that just appearing on the merit list will not help them get a seat in NISER and UM-DAE CEBS. All the candidates need to follow further admission processes to save their seats in NISER and UM-DAE CEBS. To be able to complete the admission process successfully all the candidates should follow all the steps mentioned below.

  • NISER Merit List 2024 was published on July 16, 2024, so, students must know the last date to fill out the Expression of Interest (EoI) form to join the five-year MSc program at NISER Bhubaneswar was July 24, 2024, by 6:00 PM. The NISER Counselling 2024 was released on July 17, 2024. (Note: The EoI by NISER is only for candidates who want to take admissions to NISER)
  • The last date to submit the EoI form to gain admission to NISER was July 24, 2024, by 6:00 PM. (Note: The last date for students to confirm their seats for NISER by submitting the EoI form was July 24, 2024, filling out the EoI form is a crucial step to follow so that the students will not lose their seat even after appearing in the merit list)
  • The EoI list for the admission queue was uploaded on the official NISER website on the admission web page on July 25, 2024.
  • All the candidates will get an email from NISER to fill out the admission form based on the merit list, to invite students for the 1st round of admission to NISER. 

NISER First Round Of Admission

All the candidates must know the following points to secure their seats, which is crucial for the 1st round of admission to NISER.

  • The first round of admission was scheduled for August 6, 2024, at the NISER campus, Jatani at 9 am. 
  • Candidates were supposed to report to the campus on August 6, 2024, so that they do not lose their seats because if any students fail to do so they will not be allowed for any subsequent round. 
  • All students must carry the original certificates and documents including the hard copy of their filled admission form. 
  • The admission queue was based on students who reported on time on August 6, 2024, by 9 am and their merit. This process goes on until the seats are full or the 1st round of admission queue is exhausted. 
  • Students did not get on August 6, 2024, they did not have to report again for the admission process. Instead, they were told to verify their documents and certificates on that day and the authority would make a waiting list (category-wise) for all those students. After that, candidates will get admission based on seat withdrawals. 
  • The NISER campus reporting date was August 16, 2024, for registration for the courses. 
  • The classes for the five-year MSc program at NISER Bhubaneswar were scheduled on August 19, 2024.

Documents required for NEST 2024 Counselling Process

After filling in all the required details asked in the forms, all qualifying candidates need to attend the NEST counselling round as per the prescribed date and time at the allotted venue. Documents that candidates need to carry at the counselling session are as mentioned below:

  • NEST 2024 application form (a printout of the submitted form)
  • Admit card 
  • Mark sheet of Class 10 & 12 board exam (original & photocopy)
  • Disability certificate, if applicable (original & photocopy)
  • Proof of Indian citizenship, if born outside India (original & photocopy)
  • Birth certificate/ school leaving certificate (original & photocopy)
  • Caste certificate, if applicable (original & photocopy)
  • Four passport size coloured photographs
  • Verification certificate, if applicable (original & photocopy)
  • Demand draft in favour of NISER, payable at Bhubaneswar/ Demand draft in favour of CBS, payable at Mumbai, depending on where candidates are appearing for counselling

 No, the reservation is available only for OBC non-creamy layer candidates only. For the creamy layer candidates of the OBC category, the admissions will be done under the General category.  

hence there is no reservation is applicable to the candidates who are from creamy layer OBC category.

Q:   What can be NEST cutoff marks this for NISER for General category?

A:

Applicants who want to take admission in NISER and are from General category need to secure the passing marks in their category. 

Since general category cut off marks are higher than other categories hence applicants who belong to this category need to put more effort to take admission. 

This year NEST cut off marks for general category for NISER are in between 80 to 90 marks. Though final marks will be decided after the conlusion of the exam.
