Is it Worth Pursuing B.E./B.Tech at Sardar Patel Institute of Technology (SPIT)?

Here's what students and alumni have to say:

# Pros:

* Excellent placement records: Over 95% of students get placed every year, with an average salary package of INR10.5 LPA and a the highest package of INR42 LPA.
* Strong industry connections: Well-known companies like Microsoft, Facebook, and WorkIndia recruit students regularly.
* Autonomous curriculum: The college is autonomous, allowing for flexibility in designing the curriculum to meet industry requirements.
* Good infrastructure: Air-conditioned classrooms, well-maintained laboratories, and a good library are among the college's strengths.
* Vibrant campus life: With events like Oculus, the annual technical and cultural festival, there's something for everyone.

# Cons:

* No hostel facility: Students have to rely on paying guest accommodations or manage with family/friends in the nearby area.
* Infrastructure limitations: While the campus has improved, some areas could benefit from modernization.

Q:   What to do after JEE Main session 2 result?

A:

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice.

B.Tech. in Computer Engineering - Batch of 2026
4.4

Placements-wise, a good choice, but difficult to score in semester exams.
Placements: On-campus placement percentage is 100% here. For on-campus placements, the highest package was 61 LPA, the average is 16 LPA, and the lowest is around 5 LPA. Microsoft, Oracle, Barclays, JP Morgan. Only 10-12% get the summer internship (companies: Barclays and General Mills). Software Developer, Associate App Developer roles.
Infrastructure: Our course offers air-conditioned labs and classrooms, Wi-Fi-enabled, a well-stocked library, and collaborative space for projects. Hostel facilities are well-maintained, with mess (food) and a hygienic canteen, medical assistance, and diverse sports amenities for overall growth.
Faculty: Teachers are pretty much qualified, usually either from IITs or have done some Ph.D. Some of them are quite helpful, while some of them are not. About the course, it is relevant, but the subjects are quite outdated as stated by NBA, who came to our institute recently. Semester exams are pretty much difficult to score in compared to other engineering colleges.
Other: I chose this course for the brand reputation and the career opportunities it offers. While the course structure is strong, I wish for more focus on real-world applications and emerging technologies, and they should update the subjects.

All about Sardar Patel Institute of Technology, Mumbai.
Placements: The college offers best placements for students. The college has 100% placement policy. The highest package of 2022 was 110 LPA CTC from Amazon London, offered to one student. The average CTC is 18 LPA. Top recruiting companies are PhonePe, JPMC, Morgan Stanley and many more.
Infrastructure: SPIT doesn't provide hostel services and you can opt for PGs at a nearby college in Andheri. The college does offer mess for students at a minimum cost and clean, tasty mess food. Sardar Patel College of Engineering has a hostel, which is on the same campus.
Faculty: Faculty members at SPIT are well educated and hold good degrees. The teaching staff is very nice. Even the office staff is nice. The library and lab staff are very coordinated and helpful. The exams are a bit tougher than those at other colleges. Pass percentage depends on everyone; it's just like the percentile.
Other: I chose EXTC since the semiconductor industry is booming quite rapidly and EXTC as a whole is a nice course that offers both hardware and software skills.

Teaching faculty is average, but infrastructure and facilities are good.
Placements: In my previous batch, 70% of students have already been placed, the highest salary package offered was 35 LPA and the average salary package offered was 12 LPA. Top companies include PhonePe, Nomura, Deutsche Bank, JPMC, Morgan Stanley, MSCI, IDFC, and others. For summer internships, Barclays and General Mills offered internships to 30 students.
Infrastructure: College is well-equipped with smartboards and Wi-Fi in each lab and classrooms. Library has a wide range of updated books and offers a digital library as well. There is an in-house canteen that serves great food and snacks at reasonable rates.
Faculty: Faculty members are fully qualified, but not all are supportive. Course curriculum is updated every year. Our batch is not that industry-relevant, but for upcoming batches, it has improved by including subjects like AIML as compulsory. Semester exams are not that difficult. College follows a relative grading system.

The review of Sardar Patel Institute of technology.
Placements: Almost 100 percent of the registered students were placed in the academic year 2023–24. The highest package was 61 LPA, and the average package was 15 LPA. The famous companies that visited the college include PhonePe, JPMC, Deloitte, and Deustche Bank.
Infrastructure: The college has a huge library, which is well maintained and has almost all the books one needs. All the classrooms and labs are well maintained and air-conditioned. The Wi-Fi is present in all the labs, and it has pretty good speed. One drawback of the college is that it does not have a hostel.
Faculty: All the teachers are well qualified and have immense experience in teaching the students. The teachers are very knowledgeable. The course curriculum is very well organized and is on par with industry standards. Since the college is autonomous, it designs its own syllabus, and the syllabus teaches very useful skills to the students. Semester exams are at a difficult level.
Other: I chose this course because I had an interest in the field. There are many clubs present at the college that organise various events. The clubs include E-cell and CSI. But the best event of the year is the cultural festival, also known as Oculus, which is organised in Feb and March. The sports festival, or Spoorthi, is organized in the same month.

Average faculty, poor infrastructure, but good placements .
Placements: There are 0 core companies visiting the college, so the only option for EXTC students is to either get placed in a low-paying technical job because all the high placement jobs are given to CE and CSE students, or get placed in a non-teaching company, which gives an average CTC of INR 7-8 LPA.
Infrastructure: Poor infrastructure. Washrooms are just better than public and municipal washrooms. The college doesn't have their own canteen; they don't have their own hostel; and SPIT students are not allowed in the SPCE hostel. So the only option left is to live in PGs available near colleges or private hostels.
Faculty: Since the college is an autonomous institution, the curriculum is pretty good. The course also includes a minor degree in CS or management. The only problem is that some of the faculty members are too troublesome for the students. Though the faculty is highly qualified, some teachers still make misogynistic comments in class. Scoring is very tough in college but getting a CGPA of 8 is pretty easy due to the relatively easy grading system.
Other: The college committees are very good, especially the E-cell, which is the Entrepreneurship Cell of SPIT, Oculus, the annual fest committee, etc. Therefore, there are too many extracurricular activities.

It's the best you can get amongst other available options.
Placements: The percentage of placements pre-covid has always been above 95% but now, due to layoffs and the economic meltdown, even the placements are facing the brunt of it. Its getting harder to get recruiters on board and the final-year students, especially from EXTC, are finding it difficult to get placements.
Infrastructure: Lab culture is very good, although the college doesn't provide hostels. Also, the canteen is missing so you would have to go to the SPEC canteen or the SPJIMR mess/canteen. You have exposure to other extracurricular things except courses, which helps in overall development and has a good alumni network.
Faculty: Some teachers are good and approachable and the rest are just pure professors. The curriculum is well designed and industry-ready. You get a lot of options to select the subjects you want to study. There is a relatively strict grading system followed by its autonomous college.
