UPES life is the worst and is a lot different from the movies of Karan Johar

Placements: The placement record in UPES was good as there were placements in many big companies like Shell, ONGC, Schlumberger, Amazon and many others but now it is dipping as they have started increasing the strength here. Now there are placements in the university but the ratio has dropped down to very less due to the increasing number of applicants in the same course and the university is only famous for its chemical, gas and upstream branches which do have a good placement as compared to the other bran...

It is the last best option. Good faculty, moderate infrastructure, good crowd, and the dense campus.

Placements: The placements for my branch are above average with the highest package offered of 19 LPA. For the branches comprising computer science, the highest package goes to 10 LPA. The best branch for placements is the petroleum and upstream of which the highest package could be up to 24 LPA. The frequency of the companies coming to the campus placements depends on the performance of the last batch, and it also depends on the skill attained by the student.

Absolutely dissatisfied because of faculty, placements and the curriculum

Placements: Placements are not all good at UPES. The college itself puts barriers for the students when it comes to placements. Sometimes, even the deserving ones go empty-handed. Even a couple of companies have blacklisted the college. The college claims that it has 90% placement rate but this is not true. The placement figures are doctored. Salaries range from as low as 3 LPA to 13-14 LPA. Often students of engineering branches like petroleum engineering, power systems engineering, mechanical engineering,...

Not worth the money, strict rules, undeveloped location. Hard work is the only key to success here.

Placements: The placement varies every year according to the market of oil and gas industry. My super senior batch(2014-18) is going through placements. They are 40 students batch out of which 25+ have been placed, but the placement in core sector, I.e, oil and gas domain is bit low. Around 10 students are working in pure core sector of the oil industry. The highest package includes PPO of 2 students from Schlumberger company which is still disclosed. One student got a package of 20 LPA. The average package...

A brief review: good environment, nice crowd, average teaching and learning experience, backlogs etc

Placements: Computer science placements- 100%. The next in order are: 1- upsteam 2- gas 3- automotive design 4- chemical Automotive design engineering has seen only a few companies visit the campus. Companies which visited were Maruti-Suzuki, Mahindra, Hyundai (last year), Royal Enfield (last year). 5-10 students got placed in every company.

Not the best place to pursue electrical engineering.

Placements: The placements for our senior batches were decent but not up to the mark. Major recruiting companies were IT companies namely- TCS, Tech Mahindra, Cognizant, Wipro and Infosys. These companies offered an average package of 4 LPA. Other domain related companies were Bosch, Secure Meters. Since in our batch the number of students has increased drastically, a lot is expected from our placement cell. The department helps a lot of students in seeking internships through personal contacts of the facul...

UPES is a Private College situated in the middle of a jungle, 9kms away from the city.

Placements: The placements in the college were better in the past than the present. There is a drastic change in the placement scenario. There is hope for improvement but the only hope is there. It was not fair for all streams. CS stream students get placed in IBM because we have a collaboration with them.

Expensive and the strength of the students in one class is too much.

Placements: Though the oil prices are low, still this year many good companies came for recruiting namely- Tieto Energy Solutions, Aveva, Shell, Weatherford Drilling International, L&T Hydrocarbon, Infosys - Energy Vertical, and Tech Mahindra. Halliburton, Adani Gas and Jindal Drilling are expected to come in March. Packages range from 3.5 LPA of Tech Mahindra to 26 LPA of Weatherford Drilling International. College provides internships in summer of 3rd year mostly in ONGC to students and rest of the studen...

Good college for Chemical Engineering.

Placements: 80-90% of the students are placed every year in reputed core chemical and petrochemical companies. In the last 3 years, the major recruiters were Reliance, Technip, Thyssen Krupp. Phillips Carbon Black Limited, Pedelite etc. You are also given a chance to sit in IT companies like Infosys as well. For this current year, 10 students out of 38 are placed as of now. 9of them are in PCBL and 1 is in Sparrow risk management. The placements are going on, but hopes are less this year as Technip and Thy...

Aerospace in UPES : A short review of infrastructure, faculty members and placements.

Placements: Internships are compulsory and part of the curriculum in UPES. In personal experience, the University arranges for internships for over 80% students, which is pretty good. It is mostly without stipend. Placement record of UPES in terms of the number of students placed is rather good. But packages offered can vary a lot. The average is not too high, being around 3.5 LPA. As far as aerospace is concerned, there are only a handful of companies that visit for campus recruitments (such as Mahindra,...

The main attraction towards any high fee private universities are the campus placements. University of Petroleum and Energy Studies is well known for its placements. And it was this feature that attracted me to join this university as most of the students did. Unfortunately it was my worst decision of all. Most of the people might think that you cannot blame the university for the placements. I agree to disagree. When the students are being attracted highlighting and indirectly assuring the plac...

The college provides ample opportunities to the students to shine. The college has good research facilities and a helpful faculty. More sports facilities should be present in this college. The college should be completely residential, as there was very limited space in the campus hostels. The crowd is a mix of kids from middle class and upper middle class backgrounds, who know how to have fun with limited financial resources.

Placements are no good any more and courses are so specialised and scope to switch is very minimal. Labs are not updated. It would be better to go for mechanical engineering, civil engineering etc. from some other college. I would not recommend this college.

The college is situated in Pondha valley, in Bidholi village and now also in another village nearby, though the location is really beautiful but you would eventually get bored as the transportation was not that great. The faculty do not have complete knowledge of the course or we can say that they are not good at teaching.

It is quite good in campus and faculty members. college have also very strict and hard rules which students have to follow, apart from that it’s grading system. Faculty is not helpful and supportive. It is located 13 km from perm Nagar. It is located at very natural places.

UPES is known of offering highly specialized courses, for example Petroleum related branches, Automotive and Aerospace, Geo science and Geo-informatics etc. The problem with these courses is that they are too much refined (they are basically the post graduate courses) and student is not taught with a broader perspective. Hence the basics remain weak and the job scenario gets too much narrowed because of the highly specialized course. The placements are good for Applied Petroleum upstream and Au...

Placements is good but not in all the branches, enquire before you take admission. I have done my B.Tech also from this college and now I am doing my masters too, The scenic beauty is good, the current faculty members are pathetic. The joining hand with laureate will now bring good faculty to the college.

Advantages: 1) Considered as one of the good Petroleum Engineering Colleges in India, but only for petroleum engineering. Petroleum Engineering is a unique and a developing/money making domain. 2) Oil Rig on Campus for Demonstration and Practical Purposes. 3) Core Companies Placement like CAIRN, Schlumberger, although the number of students getting into is less. 4) Dehradun is a nice place. Disadvantages: 1) Strict Academic Structure. 2) Students getting into core companies is less (that i...

Not satisfied. Can be made better in terms of campus and campus selection. But if not considering these two things, there is nothing more to think upon. Overall nice place to pass your time for around four years. Make some friends at least that motivates you to come to college.

It’s a place where every 3rd person wants to be. Great infrastructure with all the facilities. But on an average it’s a place to survive. Engineering guys exist here due to existence of university's own law and Management College. People who want to study are surely invited and those who don't are also because you will surely be made to study.
