Domain Subjects in CUET

CUET domain subjects refer to the course-specific subjects that candidates can choose based on the desired UG course of the accepting university. These subjects are included under Section 2 of CUET UG. Candidates can select up to five subjects from all three sections. There are 23 CUET domain subjects in Section 2 of the CUET exam. Candidates can enter their subject preference while filling the CUET online form 2025. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will commence CUET UG registration 2025 in the first week of February 2025 at exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG. While filling the CUET application form for 2025, candidates will be able to choose CUET domain subjects.

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) UG is conducted for entry into the UG admission process of top universities in India. NTA will notify the CUET 2025 registration date soon after the release of the notification. The CUET 2025 exam will be held tentatively in May/June in CBT mode. The CUET exam timing and the number of shifts will be declared on the CUET intimation slip and CUET admit card.

CUET Exam Pattern

Q:   How do I select the domain subjects for CUET UG?

A:

Before selecting the test or domain subjects, candidates are advised to visit the official website of university/organaisation they wish to apply for. Candidates must check the courses offered and eligibility test that they should appear in for admission to desired course. The choice of language/domain subject and General test will depend upon the course and university. Candidates will be able to opt for one or more tests as per the requirement of the course and university from the following sections:

  • Section I - 13 Languages
  • Section II - 23 Domain Specific Subjects
  • Section III - General Test

It is not mandatory to choose any one or more of the tests stated above. The choice of tests would depend on the course/s opted by the candidate and the University / Organization / Institution where admission is sought. 

Q:   Can I opt for several subjects in section II of CUET to apply for various courses?

A:

Yes, an CUET applicant can opt for one or more combinations of the following:

  • Section I: Language Test
  • Section II: Domain subject test
  • Section III: General Aptitude Test

Candidates will be able to opt up to a maximum of five subjects in order to apply to different applicable courses that require these subjects for being eligible for admissions. Candidates can choose subjects irrresptive of subjects studied in 12th grade under their eligibility conditions for a particular programme.

Q:   Does CUET require OBC certificate?

A:

Yes, OBC candidates applying for CUET must upload the OBC-NCL certificate in online CUET application form. The OBC-NCL certificate must be issued in consonance with the latest guidelines of the Government of India. If candidate fail to upload the OBC-NCL certificate (issued on or after 01 April, 2024) at the time of CUET 2025 registration, then in such case they will have to upload a declaration in lieu of OBC-NCl certificate to that effect. 

Candidates belonging to reserved categories are admitted under the seats reserved for them in accordance with the rules prescribed by Government of India. However, in the case of central universities admission, the reservation criteria of the respective university shall be applicable.

NTA prescribes the CUET exam pattern. As per the exam pattern, the CUET examination is divided into three parts- language, domain subjects and General Test. There will be no optional questions for students. Refer to the table below to know the detailed CUET exam pattern:

CUET Domain Subjects: Steps to Map Subjects with Courses?

Q:   How do I apply for a college which requires CUET percentage even though am yet to give CUET?

A:

Candidates can apply for CUET score accepting colleges through CUET UG 2025 application form. While filling the application form, candidates will be required to enter the name of the preffered universities and courses in order of preference. On declaration of the CUET results, the scores will be shared with the unoversities for which candidate has applied. Basis on the score obtained candidate will be shortlisted for the applied course.

Q:   When can I apply for the CUET exam?

A:

National Testing Agency (NTA) will commence the CUET UG 2025 registrations at cuetug.ntaonline.in. Candidates desirous of taking admission to University/college through CUET must fill the application form before the deadline. On the release of the CUET notification important dates for CUET 2025 will be announced. CUET 2025 application process will be in online mode. Candidates will be required to fill the application form, upload documents and pay the application fee in online mode only. CUET is a gateway to more tahn 250 universities across India for its UG courses.

Q:   How many subjects can I choose for the CUET exam?

A:

From CUET UG 2025 onwards, candidates can now choose for five CUET subjects. Earlier, the subject choices were six. With the rediuction in number of CUET subjects, the choices have been reduced. Candidates can opt for five subjects from 23 domain subjects of any stream irrespective of subjects studied in class 12th. 

Q:   Can I join S K Somaiya College without CUET for B.Sc?

A:

S. K. Somaiya College offers multiple pathways for admission to its B.Sc. program. Besides the CUET applicants with a non zero SAT 2024 score are eligible. Additionally scores from exams like JEE-Main (Paper-1) 2024, PERA CET-2024 and MHT CET 2024 are considered. Interim admission in Phase 1 is based on Semester V results while Phase 2 includes a personal interview. Final decisions are made considering both academic merit and interview performance.

Q:   What are the minimum marks for CUET for Kirori Mal College?

A:

A good percentile to secure admission to Kirori Mal College of Delhi University through CUET 2025 is around the 98 to 99 percentile. The minimum marks required in CUET for admission to Kirori Mal College vary depending on the course you are applying for. The overall cutoff for CUET is 784 - 800 marks 

Candidates seeking admission to the Undergraduate program of CUET accepting colleges must map the CUET domain subjects as per the university requirement. Students will be able to select a maximum of five subjects from all three sections. To map the CUET subjects, candidates must go through the website of the University (seeking admission for) to know the course eligibility and required CUET subject mapping.

CUET is the biggest UG entrance exam carnival conducted for admission to top central, state, deemed or private universities. Candidates must prepare well for the CUET exam to meet the cut-off criteria for the desired course and university. Some of the important tips to prepare for CUET UG exam are:

Ans. CUET difficulty level depends upon the amount of preparation done by candidate. For average students, the difficulty level of CUET is moderate whereas, it will be challenging for candidates who will not prepare well for exam.

Q. What is a good score in CUET?

Ans. Score of 800 or above is considered a good score in CUET. Scoring above 800 can make candidates fall in 95-99 percentile category. The cut off for top UG colleges remains between 95 to 99 percentile.

You can read last year CUET notification. It require some kind of preperation ( minimum 6 month). 

 

You should have some clearity about your courses from CUET score. 

CUET score is usefull for many good courses like LL.B, MBA, PG from aaffordablenand branded central university.
