A:
{Source: B.A. students & alumni}

Success Rate of Placement Cell in Securing Jobs for B.A. Students at DU SOL

Based on the feedback from current students and alumni, here's a summary of the success rate of the placement cell in securing jobs for B.A. students at DU SOL:

* Placement Cell: The placement cell is not actively involved in placing students, and it mostly focuses on arranging campus drives for limited companies (around 10-15) that offer low-paying jobs.
* Job Opportunities: Most students reported that the placement cell fails to provide adequate job opportunities, especially for fresh graduates. Some students mentioned that the placement cell arranges calls centre or sales jobs, while others said they didn't receive any information about the placement process.
* Industry Exposure: Unfortunately, there is little to no industry exposure for students at DU SOL, making it challenging for them to gain practical experience and secure well-paying jobs.
* Student Feedback: Alumni and current students expressed disappointment with the placement cell's inability to provide sufficient job opportunities, stating that it doesn't meet their expectations.

From the statements, it appears that the placement cell at DU SOL requires significant improvement to effectively place B.A. students in well-paying jobs. While some students managed to find employment, it's largely due to their individual efforts and networking, rather than the placement cell's initiatives.

Here's a breakdown of the key points:

* Limited Job Opportunities: Few students received job offers from the placement cell, mainly from smaller companies.
* Low-Paying Jobs: Many students reported receiving job offers with lower salaries, often from call centers or sales roles.
* No Industry Exposure: Students lacked practical experience and industry exposure, making it difficult to secure well-paying jobs.
* Disappointing Student Feedback: Alumni and current students expressed dissatisfaction with the placement cell's performance, citing inadequate job opportunities.

Overall, the placement cell at DU SOL faces challenges in securing jobs for B.A. students, and improvements are needed to enhance student employability.

School of Open Learning Review .
Placements: No Placements are provided in School of Open Learning. No the highest or the lowest and the average packages are provided in School of Open Learning. No recruiting companies are there usually. No students got an internship from any course and in no companies. No top roles offered.
Infrastructure: In my batch no classes are provided to students. But now Sol has started conducting classes on weekends for junior students so I have no idea about Wi-Fi availability, classrooms or library. Hostel is not for students in school of learning. No sports games available.
Faculty: Teachers are averagely qualified. Teaching Quality is also average. Curriculum course is almost same as Delhi University regular college curriculum. It may or may not make you industry read based over additional courses you do and your experience level. College exams are bit tricky and difficult. Pass percentage is 40 percent.
Other: I chose this course because my aim has always been civil services so this course proved to be as I had to attend coaching regularly. I wish we should have been provided with few classes in a week for better clarity. There were not events, fest, scholarships, activities etc. , .

Honest review of School of Open Learning, University of Delhi.
Placements: I am from Delhi University SOL, and they don't provide placement. The rest of the colleges of Delhi University provide placements, but the school of open learning does not provide anything, but they organize many events like internships, which are for 3rd year students, which is quite difficult in the process.
Infrastructure: We do not have any specific college. We get classes on Sunday in other colleges of Delhi University, which are taken by the professors there. However, most of the professors are good and they teach well. Our college does not provide any facilities like sports events or hostels. It is a distance college.
Faculty: Teachers are very experienced. Their method of teaching is very good from an exam point of view. According to me, if you are studying through distance, then you should be able to do self-study because in this college you get only 10 to 15 classes, which is not enough. If you are doing self-study, then the time given for studying between exams is sufficient for a normal student, which can be 4 to 5 months .
Other: My fee this year is Rs 9220, which is not justified by the facilities given to me in any way. I had to study from a distance so I chose S.O.L. Talking about campus life, if your Sunday class is being held on the North Campus or South Campus, then you can visit many good places and try some good food.

Class facilities are the best, and the environment helps students focus on studies.
Placements: In this college, around 78% of students meet the cutoff, and from those, approximately 64% secure placements through this course. The lowest package offered is INR 2 LPA, while the highest goes beyond INR 16 LPA, with an average of around INR 5-6 LPA. Tata is a top recruiting company, and about 57% of students receive internship opportunities, with Tata also being one of the companies offering internships. The roles are mainly in management, accounts, and audit.
Infrastructure: The college provides labs, classrooms, and a library, which are helpful for students. There is a paid canteen that offers fast food like samosas, chow mein, bread pakoras, etc., at reasonable prices, but the food is not healthy for students. Unfortunately, there are no medical facilities.
Faculty: Most teachers are experienced and knowledgeable but they struggle to connect with students and understand their interests due to their age. As a result, many students skip classes, finding them boring. The course curriculum is relevant, but the engagement level needs improvement.

Overall, it is an average college for students pursuing professional courses.
Placements: As DU SOL provides courses of distance learning, there are fewer chances of placements. Although they provide us with a placement portal which is not so good. None of the students get placement from DU SOL. Students have to apply for placements or jobs themselves.
Infrastructure: As in DU SOL, you are pursuing your graduation through distance learning so there is no requirement for a hostel. And regarding infrastructure, it is not so good. It is okay for the students, particularly for SOL students. The university provides classes in different colleges of the University.
Faculty: Courses totally depend on students and how they are performing, and how they are working towards their courses. Regarding exams, they are the same as the exams for students of DU. Centers are allocated to SOL students in different colleges of the University.

Q:   How is the overall infrastructure of DU SOL?

A:
{Source: B.A. students & alumni]

DU SOL Campus Life offers students a flexible dress code policy, with no additional expenses for books or college events. The mess food is of acceptable quality and hygiene standards. Attendance policies allow students to miss classes without penalties, but rule breakers may receive warnings. The college culture values diverse backgrounds and supports students with designated teachers and student representatives. The academic life focuses on semester-based exams, easy exam preparation using textbooks, and a well-stocked library. Security measures include guards and CCTV cameras, and outsiders cannot enter the campus unchecked. The college takes a strict stance against ragging and requires permission to leave hostel premises. All modes of transportation are available from the campus.

Based on the reviews provided, the overall infrastructure of the college is mixed. Some reviewers have praised the college's infrastructure, mentioning the cleanliness and spaciousness of the hostels, the availability of sports facilities and the quality of the libraries. DU SOL FAQs

Q:   How effective is the placement cell for B.A. (Hons) courses at DU SOL?

A:
{Source: B.A. (Hons) students & alumni}

Effectiveness of Placement Cell for B.A. (Hons) Courses at DU SOL

Based on the reviews and feedback from students and alumni, it appears that School of Open Learning (SOL) does not have a dedicated placement cell for its students. Instead, students are encouraged to find employment opportunities on their own. While some students mentioned receiving internship opportunities, these were limited and not part of a structured placement program.

Here's a summary of the key points:

* No dedicated placement cell: Students reported that there was no dedicated placement cell at DU SOL to assist them in finding employment opportunities.
* Limited internship opportunities: Some students received internship opportunities, but these were not part of a structured placement program.
* Self-initiative required: Students needed to take initiative to find employment opportunities themselves.

Overall, it seems that the placement cell at DU SOL is ineffective in terms of providing assistance to students in securing job opportunities. However, individual efforts may lead to success, as noted by some students.
