Q:   How successful is the placement cell in securing jobs for M.Com students at DU SOL?

    A:
    {Source: M.Com students & alumni}

Placement Cell Success Rate for M.Com Students at DU SOL

Unfortunately, the placement cell at DU SOL did not secure any jobs for M.Com students due to its inactivity. As stated by several students:

    * "No students were a part of the placement cell."
    * "There was no separate placement cell because it was not a regular college."

However, students could still opt for the central placement cell of the university, which offers placement opportunities. Although these opportunities might be scarce, students who performed well academically could potentially land jobs with companies offering salaries ranging from INR30,000 to INR50,000 per month.

In summary, the placement cell at DU SOL failed to secure jobs for M.Com students due to its lack of activity. While alternative options exist, the success rate remains uncertain and dependent on individual performance.

Great faculty, good infrastructure, and placement opportunities.
Placements: Students are selected based on the overall CGPA scored in the undergraduate program. The college provides good placement opportunities with companies like Deloitte, HCL, BHEL, and private banks recruiting students. The highest package provided is around 30 Lacs, and the lowest is around 5 Lacs.
Infrastructure: The college has great infrastructure and greenery all around the campus. Wi-Fi facilities are available at every corner of the college. The classrooms are large and have whiteboards. The college has a large canteen with affordable pricing. However, the college does not provide any hostel facilities.
Faculty: The faculty is highly educated and has extensive experience. Teachers, while teaching, not only adhere to books but also provide extra knowledge such as practical applications. The curriculum is highly subjective and has very little scope for practical applications. The difficulty level of exams ranges from medium to difficult.
Other: I want to complete my Master's degree to become eligible for the post of a professor. The college conducts various events and seminars throughout the year.

It is a good college for working students.
Placements: There were no placements in this college. There was no separate placement cell because it was not a regular college. They organised some career-related programs for placements and internships. You could get enroll yourself in the central placement cell which was run by Delhi University. There was less chance to get a job through the central placement cell for the students. You may find a good job if you were good at your studies. The salary package was based on students' abilities. Commerce background students had advantages in this course.
Infrastructure: There was a building that comprises an office, administration block, library, book bank, laboratories, and few classrooms. We could borrow 4 books from the book bank for an entire semester. You could also borrow books from the library for two weeks which can be renewed twice. Study material was also available in our department. Classes were held in different colleges at DU weekly. There were limited students in our course. You may enjoy some more facilities which were provided by DU.
Faculty: Faculty members were good. They conducted classes weekly, thus there was a limited time which was not enough for the completion of the syllabus. You may contact your teachers if you were interested in studies. Teachers were very helpful. Semester exams were moderate. There were five subjects in each semester. In the previous two semesters, there was an option to choose a subject of your interest. The pass percentage was average. The course was beneficial for working students.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest in it. There were limited seats in this course, so admission was based on merit. I also wanted to do my PG at this university. The course fee was reasonable, and I could do any other work apart from this.

The teachers were highly qualified and experienced.
Placements: After 6 semesters, we become eligible for campus placement and after 5 semesters, many companies visit our college to offer a job. Top recruiting companies like KPMG Global, Ey GDS, Grant Thornton, NIIT, and BAJAJ Capital visited our college. The highest package was 360000, and the average package was 260000 offered in our college. More than 70 percent of students got placements in our course. After getting the degree, I want to get an MNC job at Concentrix because this company has many branches in India and a lot of employees.
Infrastructure: Our college room has many facilities, like being so airy, having expensive fans, having a comfortable bench for sitting, a clean and big blackboard and having enough windows. To a great extent, our room is perfect. Meal quality is very good in our canteen. The canteen staff avoids junk food and provides us with healthy food at the lowest price. If someone wants to register for a hostel, it is very easy. First of all, that person has to go to our teacher's room, where they'll give us a form to fill out, and after that, we have to give the form to the hostel staff for an affordable payment, and the hostel staff will provide us with a hostel ID card. When I first rented a room, I thought about where I was but after two days, I realized that it was good enough. Hostel Fee: INR 22000 per year.
Faculty: I chose B.Com. honors because I was not clear about which career path I would choose in the future. So, I decided to go with a Bachelor of Commerce with Honors. Faculty: The student ratio is 10:40. The faculty members were mostly Ph.D. degree holders and were very friendly. The term exams were on time and were quite easy to pass. I wanted to do post-graduation so after completing my graduation, I opted for further studies, which are a Master of Commerce. Faculty-student ratio is 5:45. Faculty members were Ph.D. degree holders and friendly. The term exams were on time and it was not difficult to pass. Class Size: 100 Course Fee: INR 10,000 per year.

    Absolutely satisfied with the faculty.
Placements: I was in batch 2022 for the Master of Commerce programme at the School of Open Learning. It has great placement opportunities, and the top company recruiters for my course were Deloitte, E&Y, KPMG, Genpact, etc. which hired for various consulting and audit roles in the firm.
Infrastructure: It has great infrastructure and facilities, which include nicely built classrooms with proper ventilation, a canteen with an amazing variety of foods, and a huge sports field with opportunities to participate in various games. It was a great experience all around.
Faculty: The teaching staff is highly qualified and knowledgeable, they help students with their queries, whether they are from the syllabus or outside the course. They make the students industry-ready and provide great knowledge, which is very helpful in corporate sectors.

SOL DU is one of the competitive colleges compared to other colleges of DU.
Placements: I am a student of M.Com, and I enrolled in it in 2018. I completed my post-graduation in 2020. I don't have any idea about placements, but I know that the maximum package offered is 4-5 LPA, and the minimum package is 1-2 LPA. The top recruiting companies were Amazon, Wipro etc. At that time, students were not aware of placements, so I think 20-30 students took part in placements. I don't think SOL provides internships. But the placements are quite okay.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of SOL is quite good. It is an open school, so the infrastructure is good. The classrooms are good. I don't have much idea about labs, but the library is quite good. Book bank is available in our college. The canteen food is very delicious. Hostel facilities are not available in SOL, and there are no sports facilities even.
Faculty: The teachers in SOL are very helpful, friendly and very cooperative. They all are well educated and masters in their fields. They are knowledgeable and very understandable. The teaching quality is very competitive. This course is relevant and makes the students industry-ready. Semester exams are quite difficult sometimes and sometimes moderate. You have to score a minimum of 33% to pass the exams.
Other: So, I got admission in SOL in 2018, and my course was M.Com. I wanted to do master's after my bachelor's. So, I decided to do M.Com as I want to be a professor. There should be practical study also in M.Com. So, students would understand things in a better way. The surroundings of SOL DU are very good. They also give financial assistance to students, and some quotas are also available like SC, ST etc. There is very poor connectivity in SOL, and there are not many events and fests conducted on campus.

DU sol is the best option for students who are working and preparing for competitive exams.
Placements: You can get CTC of 3–4 lacs. Many companies participated in the campus drive organized by university placement cell. You can easily apply for the job and internship opening on the website and sit in on the job interview offline when it is conducted. Placement depends on your skills and getting a job as a tele caller, executive, salesperson, etc.
Infrastructure: You will be allotted a study center for the classes, which are at DU's regular colleges. You get the proper infrastructure and classes. Classes are on the weekdays so working students can easily attend the classes. Canteens are in the college so you can eat, which is affordable.
Faculty: You will get teachers from the top colleges of DU like SRCC, KMC, etc. Exams are term-wise and exam level is moderate; you can easily pass the exams. The course is non-technical and more human-oriented so you can get job in HR, consulting, counseling, etc. The passing percentage is high. The curriculum is relevant and you can choose your major or minor subjects in the third semester.
