DU SOL Placement Overview

School of Open Learning has established a placement cell with effect from September 4, 2018, for the benefit of SOL students. The Cell addresses the need of students to find a suitable placement after the completion of their studies. As per the Shiksha students' reviews, the DU SOL highest package offered over the past few years was INR 30 LPA. The average package and lowest package stood at INR 8 LPA and INR 5 LPA, respectively. Some of the well-known roles offered were Chat Supporter, Marketing Executive, Coordinator, etc. Flipkart, Infosys, and TCS were some of the prominent companies that offered job opportunities in recent years of DU SOL placements.

DU SOL placement cell has a fully functional website that provides the latest information to students regarding the available job vacancies. Students are also informed through SMS, notices, and links on the SOL DU portal. In May 2022, the DU SOL placement cell organised a drive for a Business Development Executive (AXIS Bank) jointly with NIIT Ltd. Around 800 students registered for the profile and 48 students appeared for the interview. As per the official report, 21 students from the School of Open Learning appeared for the first round of interviews, out of which 15 students were selected. Further, seven students went to the branch for the final interview and finally, four students were selected for the post.

Overall, it is an average college for students pursuing professional courses.
Placements: As DU SOL provides courses of distance learning, there are fewer chances of placements. Although they provide us with a placement portal which is not so good. None of the students get placement from DU SOL. Students have to apply for placements or jobs themselves.
Infrastructure: As in DU SOL, you are pursuing your graduation through distance learning so there is no requirement for a hostel. And regarding infrastructure, it is not so good. It is okay for the students, particularly for SOL students. The university provides classes in different colleges of the University.
Faculty: Courses totally depend on students and how they are performing, and how they are working towards their courses. Regarding exams, they are the same as the exams for students of DU. Centers are allocated to SOL students in different colleges of the University.

Honest review of School of Open Learning, University of Delhi.
Placements: I am from Delhi University SOL, and they don't provide placement. The rest of the colleges of Delhi University provide placements, but the school of open learning does not provide anything, but they organize many events like internships, which are for 3rd year students, which is quite difficult in the process.
Infrastructure: We do not have any specific college. We get classes on Sunday in other colleges of Delhi University, which are taken by the professors there. However, most of the professors are good and they teach well. Our college does not provide any facilities like sports events or hostels. It is a distance college.
Faculty: Teachers are very experienced. Their method of teaching is very good from an exam point of view. According to me, if you are studying through distance, then you should be able to do self-study because in this college you get only 10 to 15 classes, which is not enough. If you are doing self-study, then the time given for studying between exams is sufficient for a normal student, which can be 4 to 5 months .
Other: My fee this year is Rs 9220, which is not justified by the facilities given to me in any way. I had to study from a distance so I chose S.O.L. Talking about campus life, if your Sunday class is being held on the North Campus or South Campus, then you can visit many good places and try some good food.

Class facilities are the best, and the environment helps students focus on studies.
Placements: In this college, around 78% of students meet the cutoff, and from those, approximately 64% secure placements through this course. The lowest package offered is INR 2 LPA, while the highest goes beyond INR 16 LPA, with an average of around INR 5-6 LPA. Tata is a top recruiting company, and about 57% of students receive internship opportunities, with Tata also being one of the companies offering internships. The roles are mainly in management, accounts, and audit.
Infrastructure: The college provides labs, classrooms, and a library, which are helpful for students. There is a paid canteen that offers fast food like samosas, chow mein, bread pakoras, etc., at reasonable prices, but the food is not healthy for students. Unfortunately, there are no medical facilities.
Faculty: Most teachers are experienced and knowledgeable but they struggle to connect with students and understand their interests due to their age. As a result, many students skip classes, finding them boring. The course curriculum is relevant, but the engagement level needs improvement.

School of Open Learning DU.
Placements: The SOL does not provide any kind of placement. No students were placed in any companies from the School of Open Learning. Hence, if you want placement, then you should not prefer the SOL. No roles were offered, and no interviews were conducted. No efforts were made for the placement of the students.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the building is good and attractive. College does not provide WiFi facilities to their students. Classrooms are old and need to be designed and renovated. The quality of food in the canteen is average. There is no hostel for SOL students. Students participate in various sports and games at the University of Delhi, but there are no games and sports facilities for the SOL students. However, apart from all these things, the library is genuine and good. Students can borrow books.
Faculty: The most of faculty are adhoc basis professor and they are not permanent. The professors are well qualified but not too much professional. However, some of them teach very well and some not. The course of B.A. is very relevant and provides you knowledge of different topics related to your society and surrounding. The exams are quite difficult and may be challenging but you can crack them by focusing on your studies. 40% is the minimum marks you need to pass.
Other: This course content and curriculum was the extension of Humanities studies which I have done in my 11th and 12th class. I couldn't choose the B.Com and B.Sc. hence I prefer this one. The college should improve the way of learning and they should improve the quality of classes. They should also provide the scholarship and placement to SOL students. The festivals and events should also organize for the SOL students.
