A:
{Source: B.Sc. students & alumni}

Effectiveness of Placement Cell for B.Sc. Programs at Shri Shikshayatan College

* Placement Rate: According to students' reviews, the placement rate for B.Sc. students is not that good, as not many companies hire B.Sc. students.
* Limited Companies Visiting: Many companies visit the campus only once a year, which limits the number of opportunities for students.
* Need for More Active Placement Cell: Reviewers suggest that the placement cell could be more productive and invite more companies to visit the campus regularly.
* Some Success Stories: Despite these limitations, nearly 70% of students reportedly got placed in different companies, with salaries ranging from INR25,000 to INR40,000 per month.
* No Guarantee of Placement: Unfortunately, there is no guarantee of placement for B.Sc. students, unlike for B.Com and BBA students, who seem to have better placement prospects.

Overall, while the placement cell exists and has had some success stories, the limited scope and frequency of company visits may hinder the placement prospects of B.Sc. students.

Studies in Botany in Shri Shikshayatan College would make your college life memorable.
Placements: Although there is a little scope of placement for Science students in their field but they can apply for other placement options available at the end of the year. Generally our seniors go for Masters and few others to some other areas of interest. Higher studies will be beneficial.
Infrastructure: We have a separate department called Botany department for our course. We also have our labs for performing practical experiments. It is well-equipped with all the goods necessary for the experiment purpose. We also have a lab assistant who is very helpful and friendly.
Faculty: Teachers or the faculty members are very qualified and highly knowledgeable. They are always available to help the students be it related to academics or other than academics. They have an ocean full of knowledge. Higher studies are recommended for contributing your part to the subject.
Other: Since I always loved biology zoology and botany was an option. I never made differentiation between the two. The first college I was called from was this college. And since our college has only botany honours and not zoology so this was the one I got into. The campus is centrally air conditioned. It has Wi-Fi connectivity. We have the best library in the UG course in the city with very good books available.

It is one of the best colleges in the heart of the city.
Placements: None of the students got placed from college. Around 17 to 20 students enrolled in masters degree in esteemed universities across India. There were no top companies for our course. The internship was also not allowed since summer internships clashed with classes and Calcutta University exams.
Infrastructure: Our college was facilitated with a great campus with air conditioning classrooms, clean and green premises. The entire campus is enabled Wi-Fi though it posed a problem because of the jammer. Labs were incredible since we were allowed to exploit everything as much as needed. Could practice practicals anytime without being asked why. The hostel was also provided by the college.
Faculty: We had friendly and ever helping professors. Special care was taken for every student. Partiality was not felt ever. Weekly tests and parent-teacher meetings were conducted. They were very strict about attendance and classes which can be compared to a school. The course curriculum does not make students ready for industry.
Other: I opted for the course because botany has great opportunities. Plants are the most disciplined organism in our ecosystem. Examination pattern should be better. The student council of the college holds annual programmes, sports day, college foundation day, the annual fest is called Srijan, different seminars and many more activities.

A good college if you want a progressive and peaceful environment to study and develop yourself.
Placements: Actually, I am not in the B.Com or BBA department, so I am not sure about the placements, but there are internships, and placements are held, but the average package is not known to me. But as per what I have heard from my seniors, the placements are good, as the college lies in a corporate sense area that has Tata Steel and Emami nearby, so internships are not a big deal.
Infrastructure: Honestly speaking, the infrastructure of the college is not that eye-catching, but it has decent ground, the computer labs, library, and practical lab. The canteen is all equipped decently and well cleaned with centralized AC all around the college. But after spending 4-5 years, you will eventually get bored of seeing it regularly. Also, the canteen is very small as per my expectations.
Faculty: I don't know about the teachers of all depth. But speaking about the botany department, they are all very helpful and understanding (if you are regular to college); they will try to teach you with utmost devotion. The curriculum is divided among 2 teachers, which makes it easier for both students and teachers to teach properly. Attendance is a kickback but not a necessity.
Other: The college is an 8.5 according to the fee structure and the area of its campus. According to my course, i.e., B.Sc. Botany (H), it is a decent college that frequently arranges seminars, lectures, competitions, and activities for the overall development of yourself. If you try to get in touch with the senior, whom I will highly regard, it will help you in everything. The seniors are very good and supportive. Especially the sports department, which is very progressive, and they help you teach you the sports even if you are a noob. The crowd is mixed and contains all kinds of people.

A calm & qualified environment to graduate from.
Placements: For B.Com (Hons) students there is an opportunity for placements. Other have a little less opportunity. If you are looking for campus placement be in touch with placement cell. Notices are been circulated with time to time to keep you acknowledge about the upcoming companies and opportunities.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is well fortified. It is a full AC campus. Proper hygiene is maintained. Cleaning is done every few hours. It is a four storey building. It is someway connected with the Shikshayatan school. It has a common playground and a common auditorium.
Faculty: Faculty members are highly qualified. Every department has qualified groups of faculty members. They are highly disciplined and maintains the curriculum strictly. You will find them using the regional language often to explain a certain topic. No bias among the students.

Other: Well, I would say my department is small, but the faculty is extremely good. The teachers are dedicated and interactive. Coming to the infrastructure, it has one of the best infrastructures. It also has a gym, common room, and a cozy cafeteria. There are always a plenty of extracurricular activities going on. Our college takes part in a lot of fests. But, I want to mention a few cons, firstly the fees are quite high if you compare it with other colleges and secondly, there isn’t a placement cell. Students need a good placement cell in this career-driven world.
