Is B.E./B.Tech at SSM College of Engineering worth the investment?

Based on the reviews and feedback from students and alumni, here's a summary of the key points:

    * Infrastructure: The college has a decent infrastructure, with modern classrooms, libraries, and labs. However, some students felt that the labs lacked updated equipment and the library had limited resources.
    * Teaching Quality: While some faculty members were praised for their helpfulness and dedication, others were criticized for being inexperienced and ineffective.
    * Placement Opportunities: Unfortunately, the college's placement record is concerning, with few companies visiting the campus and even fewer students getting placed. Alumni reported struggling to find employment after graduating.
    * Scholarships: Some students received scholarships, but it seems that only a select few benefited from these opportunities.
    * Industry Exposure: Industry exposure was minimal, with students relying largely on self-study and occasional industrial visits.
    * Campus Life: The campus was generally clean and safe, with a strong emphasis on extra-curricular activities.

Overall, while the college may have some strengths, such as its location and decent infrastructure, its weaknesses in teaching quality, placement opportunities, and industry exposure raise significant concerns. Potential students considering investing in a degree from SSM College of Engineering may want to carefully weigh these factors before making a decision.

Here are some key quotes from students and alumni that summarize the main points:

    * "The college has a decent infrastructure, but the placement record is terrible." - [Student]
    * "Our teachers are well-qualified, but they're not experienced and struggle to connect with students." - [Alumni]
    * "The college needs to focus on improving its placement rates and industry exposure." - [Student]

Keep in mind that individual experiences may vary, and it's crucial to consider multiple perspectives when evaluating the worthiness of an investment in a degree from SSM College of Engineering.

    Dissatisfied because of no placements.
Placements: My batch was 2018-2022. There were 200 students in my batch and other 1200 students were in Civil, mechanical and E&c department. My course was CSE and there were 2 sections (A&B). We finished our course and recruiting companies came to our college but didn't offer much. The highest package was 1.2 Lacs per annum, which was below average itself. I personally chose not join any company and decided to do my M.Teach. Companies were TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Hcl, Reliance etc. 60 % of students including myself got internship at Internshala. Top roles which offered were Software developed, web designer, It project manager etc.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure were pretty basic. There was no Wi-Fi in the concerned department available for the students. Labs were not available in our department so we were supposed to go to E&c department to do out Matlab projects. Now about library you were supposed to take only 2 books at a time which caused alot of problems for me and other students. Classrooms were big and only 1 fan was there in summers. No eating system was present in winter. There is no college canteen available.
Faculty: Teaching was pretty average and the faculty of the department was worse. They never tried to help and neither they taught well. Finishing 60 percent syllabus and taking the exam of 100 percent was their thing always. Semester exams were so difficult and they used to fails students so that can get the rechecking money. Pass entage was 40%. .
Other: I chose the CSE course because it is the future. I wish if the CSE department is more helpful to the students.

Review of SSM College of Engineering.
Placements: Around 60 students got placed through the entrance JKCET, and few seats were reserved for fee quota. The average salary package offered was around 5 LPA. Top recruiting companies were Intel, Google, Amazon, Jio, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure was good. I would rate it 1 star for infrastructure.
Faculty: Our teachers were less effective, and whatever they taught was irrelevant. Semester exams were conducted during winter, and it was tough for students. There were two exam papers in a single day.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest in it.

I am satisfied with this college.
Placements: The placement percentage is very less or negligible in our college. Hardly any company visited the college during our time and in fact, the college did not have any placement cell. They recently made a placement cell that hardly recruited any students. SSM College is below par as far as placements are concerned.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is good. Our college has good labs and classrooms. A hostel facility is also available for boys. Our college does not have any hostel for girls. Some private hostels are available outside the colleges for girls and boys. The college has a good canteen and some other private restaurants so food quality is good.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college are good and hard-working but the problem lies in the administration block. The employees in the administrative block are very rude and they hardly care about your time or money. The major problem of the college is the delay in exams and results. Exams are always delayed due to some reasons which cause delays in degrees.

The college has really good infrastructure.
Placements: Some companies come to the college for placements. I don't know about the packages yet. Students must have 79% to get internships in good companies. Roles like software engineer, data scientist, etc., are offered in this course.
Infrastructure: The hostel, labs, library, Wi-Fi, buses and campus infrastructure are very good. The quality of food available in the hostel mess and canteen is very good. Various facilities of sports and games are available in college, like cricket, football, volleyball etc.
Faculty: The teachers and their teaching quality are the best. The course curriculum is very good and makes students industry-ready. Semester exams are not very difficult. Papers are designed by Kashmir University. The pass percentage is 60%. The teachers conduct various programs for students.

    Our college has good environment.
Placements: Around 70% of students are placed in a good position in government departments. If you are a hard worker college is providing a good environment to flourish in any field.
Infrastructure: College has very good infrastructure, especially the library, hostel, classrooms, and admin block are awesome. Being a private college infrastructure is good. College has a start of the art infrastructure.
Faculty: College is not that good in terms of faculty and teaching. College is affiliated with university of Kashmir which is the top university. University of Kashmir is NAAC accredited A+ university.

Review of SSM College of Engineering.
Placements: The civil engineering department has a total of almost 200 students per batch. Many of the students have done their internships from various departments in Kashmir like RNB, JKPDD, and ERA. However, these internships have all been unpaid. Students have got a lot to learn from these internships. There are very few placements for our department but a lot more for other departments. The most recent offer had been from Pentagon Space as they conducted the CSR drive, and only three students from the entire college were placed. None of them got placed in our department.
Infrastructure: I would rate 4 for the infrastructure, but I am not sure about the hostel. Other facilities and infrastructure at our college are the best, but they need some improvement like the Wi-Fi which is not available for all. Medical facilities need a little modification.
Faculty: I would not rate it less than five stars because the teachers give their best. Teachers not only prepare the students for the semester exams but also for the competitive exams. The difficulty level of the semester exams is moderate. The percentage of students passing the examination is 80% and more from our department. It might be a little less for other departments. Overall, faculty members, curriculum, and exams are on point.
Other: I have chosen this course because I have always wanted to be an engineer. It is a pleasure being a part of this college where there is a perfect balance between academics and college life fun. Fests and events are an everyday part of our college life.
