SSM College of Engineering is an average college.
Placements: About 20% of the total engineering students got placed. The highest salary offered is Rs. 30,000 per month. The average salary offered is Rs. 15,000 per month. The lowest salary offered is Rs. 12,000 per month. Ericson, LG, Samsung, Nokia, and many others offered placements here. Roles of a field engineer, junior engineer, executive engineer, etc., are offered. About 40% of the students got internships in Hero Electric, P2P Power Solutions and many more.
Infrastructure: In our college prospectus, it is mentioned that 24x7 Wi-Fi is available on the campus, but in reality, it is not. There are rare places where Wi-Fi is available, and that is always password protected. So we don't get access to Wi-Fi. Classrooms are quite satisfactory. Projectors are available in some classrooms. The library is well maintained.
Faculty: Personally, the teachers here are quite nice. But as staff, they are not that helpful. They are well educated, but most of the teachers lack the art of teaching. So teaching is not quite effective. Basically, this course curriculum is relevant, but the students are not professionally ready for industry.
Other: I was passionate about the bachelor of engineering in electronics and communication engineering because this provides the best opportunity for placements. The best thing is that we get a lot more to learn.

The college is good, but you have to study well too.
Placements: Campus placement drives are not organised here. Very few to no companies visit this college to hire freshers/graduates. However, some of our alumni were settled very well in reputed companies like Microsoft and Yahoo. Some students were placed in India and some others were settled abroad. But I'm sure this because more of their hard work rather than what the college has provided to them. Some programmes like Udaan are organised to hire freshers at times.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is quite good here. The college is located far from the busy city, under the hills of Kashmir and is surrounded by beautiful mountains and fresh natural view. The college building is at par with other colleges located in Kashmir. Various departments are organised very well and are working constantly inside various different buildings.
Faculty: Faculty members of our college are below par, but this is a normal thing in every other engineering college. Faculty members are poor except for a few hardworking teachers who earn their living honestly by teaching students at the level they needed to be trained. The course curriculum is actually prescribed by Kashmir University for all the colleges that are affiliated to it. The curriculum is a bit old but is up to the mark if students teach the concepts at the prescribed level.
Other: Our college is infamous for its cultural events in Kashmir, and various clubs are active for different types of events. Cultural events are great here. We also host a 2-day fest every year, and it comprises of cultural, technical, and literature events. Our crowd mostly compute the students studying here and even students from various colleges. On a regular day, the campus crowd is good. During breaks, they use to walk around and hang out with friends in and around the college which is surrounded by awesome and beautiful landscapes and sceneries. Our college participates in various activities like both the inter-college and intra-college championships, ranging from categories like sports, art, music, debating, and quizzes etc. No scholarship is offered by the college. Some engineering students are selected through CET (common entrance test) examination, and a few seats will be left for scholarships. However, even other government awarded scholarships do exist and are accepted by the students of our college.

The infrastructure needs improvement and should be modernized.
Placements: 50% of students got placement. Companies like HCL, Infosys visit the campus. The package ranges from 5 Lacs per annum to 10 Lacs per annum. I was offered the role of Database manager. Not many companies are interested in college. Students are not having much practice skills.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi, laboratory, and library facilities are there but no girls hostel. Food is available at stalls and a coffee cafe is also there. There are also good choices in food items. But infrastructure needs to get upgraded and are well managed. A permanent transport system is not available from the main road up to the college.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and knowledgeable but not all. There are not many senior teachers. There is no subject expertise. Specialists needed to boost the confidence of students.
Other: I love this course as it's the latest technology and is an emerging field having good job potential. It gives confidence and a sense of security to one.

I will not recommend any student to choose this college unless they have no other choice.
Placements: Placements are almost zero. Only 1-2 students from a class get jobs in college. Otherwise, students have to find a job by themselves. Many companies like Tata and BSNL visit the campus for placements. The average salary package offered ranges from 2-3 LPA.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure in our college is not too good. Hostel rooms are also not well-maintained. In the hostel, window glasses and switches are broken. Bathrooms are also dirty in our hostel. The food served is not hygienic. The infrastructure in classrooms and labs is good. The library does not have enough books. It does not provide a Wi-Fi facility.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college are selected on the basis of their qualifications and not on the basis of quality. Teachers are helpful, but they lack experience. The teacher-to-student ratio is 1:40. Till now, we did not have got industry exposure, but our seniors have got industry exposure.
Other: Campus surroundings are very good. Only 1 or 2 events are organised every month.
