Review of SSM College of Engineering.
Placements: As a student of SSM College of Engineering and Technology, I must say that I have never seen any company approaching the college since I have joined. But according to the official prospectus of college, different companies, including Tata, Reliance, Mahindra, etc., visit the college to hire students. During the course, students are required to do at least 3 internships. These internships are to be done in different private companies and also the government sector. About 99% of students got internships. Most of the students got internships from the government sector like hospitals (central heating systems), mechanical engineering department (IC engine etc.). The top roles offered in this course include junior engineer, assistant engineer, executive engineer etc.
Infrastructure: In this college, the infrastructure is very good. We have a separate building for mechanical engineering. This building is named Mechanical Engineering Department. The campus has Wi-Fi. The classrooms are well-maintained. There is no crowd on our campus. A library is also available on our campus. One can get a maximum of 3 books during a semester. The college has many facilities, including hostel, dispensary, playground etc. The quality of food in the hostel is not good. It always remained average. Medical facilities are available in a separate place. Sports and games are organised in this college.
Faculty: The teachers are well qualified. The minimum qualification of the faculty is M.Tech, and some have pursued PhD also. So, the teaching quality in our college is above average. Since the college is affiliated with University of Kashmir, the course curriculum is set by officials of University of Kashmir and can be considered relevant and makes students industry-ready. In our college, examinations are conducted by University of Kashmir, and according to my personal experience, the difficulty of the paper is not too high, and the questions in the papers are according to the prescribed syllabus. In order to pass the examination, students must secure at least 40%.
Other: I got a seat in this college through JKCET, and I was allotted the mechanical engineering branch. I did not choose the course intentionally, but I found the course very interesting. The best thing about the course is that it forces the students to work hard. In our college, there is a committee that works for the welfare of students and is named DSW (dean student welfare). This committee is responsible for organising events, fests etc. These fests and events are organised throughout the year. Scholarships are available in this college. Students can apply for various scholarships including NSP etc.

Dissatisfied because no practical knowledge given to student, Good campus and faculty.
Placements: 1) 1% of students were placed in my course.
5) 2 Lacs was the highest package offered, the lowest was offered 50000 for internship based jobs and 1lakh was average salary.
3) Jamkash Automobile, JD Motors were top recruiters.
4) Estimation engineering, Production engineering roles were offered.
2)18k was the highest salary, 8k was the lowest salary and average was 10k offered to our course.
6) 100% internship in Mechanical engineering department at Jammu & Kashmir State cable car cooperation.
Infrastructure: 1)There wasn't any facility of Wi-Fi in our college, the labs for physics and chemistry were quite good, but the core lab of our Mechanical department was very outdated. The classrooms are okay and in library the books are not that much abundant.
2) I was a day scholar so I don't have any idea about hostel. But my classmates used to say the food there isn't that good. For medical emergency there was an dispensary and a nurse. Sport events were organised every now and then.
Faculty: 1) Teachers were very helpful and qualified. That is the only thing I loved about my college. The staff was very friendly and they used to help us every now and then. But they focused more on theory instead of practicals.
2) There should be more practical subjects associated with this course rather than the theoretical subjects.
Other: 1) I loved engines from my childhood, they used to make me crazy, so that's why I joined this course. Engines is the best thing about this course.
2) Practical knowledge will help a lot.
3) Events were organised every now and then. Campus was good. Surrounding was also good. Scholarship were given to toppers.

I am satisfied with our college due to its good teachers and good placements provided in the past.
Placements: About 70% of students from our course were placed. The highest salary was offered to high merit students, and it was Rs. 25,000 per month. The lowest salary offered was Rs. 10,000 per month, while the average salary offered was Rs. 15,000 per month. Top recruiting companies for our course are Nissan, mechanical related companies of cement factories, Ford, Hyundai, etc. About 80% of the students got internships in different companies.
Infrastructure: Facilities provided in our college are very good. The department is very great with Wi-Fi facility, clean labs and neat classrooms. Our college has a library which is choice-based. It is a great college. The quality of the facilities provided in our hostel is very fine, and the food served in the mess and canteen is top-class, neat and hygienic. Medical facilities are on the priority list. Sports and games play an important role here.
Faculty: Teachers here are very helpful, and they help in every field and clear doubts. They are well qualified with great degrees and are knowledgeable. Their teaching quality is very high, and they are very talented and kind. They teach in a good and kind way.
Other: I chose this course because it has better results and placements and internships in different companies. The best thing about our course is this course is useful in future. There is no need to improve anything in our course. Our college organises events every month with zest and also fests. The campus crowd is huge, and the campus connectivity is good. Campus surroundings are neat and clean. Scholarships are provided every year with a huge amount.
