B.Com. in Analytics - Batch of 2024
Offered by St. Joseph's College of Commerce
4.2

It is good for students who want to study as well as enjoy their college life.
Placements: Placements in St. Joseph's are very good. That is the reason why I came to study here. About 70% to 80% of students are placed every year. Analytics being a course in demand, companies like Goldman Sachs and Deloitte are the top recruiters. The highest salary package offered last year was 10 LPA by Lowe's India and the lowest was 3.5 LPA. Around 89% of students got internships in their second year at companies like JP Morgan, etc. Top roles in analytics include data scientists, data analysts, and data miners.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are spacious, with smart classes all around the college. We have two computer labs with an adequate number of systems. Our library is also a decent one that uses advanced technology for attendance marking. Hostels are not available in SJCC, but there are nearby PGs and hostels. Canteen food is also very decent. They provide food at a low price. Sports and games are very much encouraged, along with studies. Every month, one or two sports events occur here.
Faculty: Teachers are extremely helpful and are qualified. They are always there to help students. The course curriculum makes students industry-ready. The teaching pattern is different in SJCC. Apart from the portions, teachers also share their insights, thoughts, and experiences from the outside world, which is really helpful for students. Sem exams are not that easy, but teachers cover every portion before it. It makes us easy to pass. The pass percentage is around 80%.
Other: B.Com Analytics is a 4-hour-a-day course. I chose this because I liked coding and languages. The best thing is that the classes start at 7 am and last till 11 am, leaving us time to enjoy the college. One or two fests and events happen in a week. The crowd is also there, but everyone is following COVID protocols.

The crowd is good, fests are good, but the campus is small.
Placements: More than 70% of students who are interested in getting placements have received offers from companies. This does not include those students who are interested in continuing their education. The highest salary package offered is 7 LPA. The average salary package offered is around 4 LPA. Many well-reputed companies such as Goldman Sachs, Deloitte, KPMG, Wal-Mart, etc., visit for placements every year. They are usually the top recruiters. Start-ups recruit students also, although not as many as the other companies. For internships, Goldman Sachs is usually the top recruiter. Deloitte and KPMG also provide internships. Usually, those students who complete their internships with the companies get a pre-placements offer from them upon completion of their internships. The top roles offered are analytics, operations, and finance. These are only the top roles offered. Besides them, many others such as HR and marketing are also offered.
Infrastructure: One of the drawbacks of SJCC is that it has a small campus. This college does have a ground and other sports facilities though. The college more than makes up for the small campus with its location i.e smack dab in the middle of the city. The most active part of the city is where all the fun is. There is nothing that cannot be found more within a half-kilometer radius. But, owing to the location, this college does not have hostel facilities of its own. However, there are more than a few hostels and PGs within walking distance of this college. Our college provides Wi-Fi facilities, computer laboratories, etc. Classrooms are equipped with charging points, projectors, speakers, etc., for a good classroom experience. The canteen on campus is excellent, and it provides meals, snacks and whatever else that students can ask for.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are qualified and knowledgeable in their respective subjects. As is the case anywhere, there are a few teachers who are average. However, the library is very helpful in such cases. Teachers are always approachable and help students, clear doubts, etc. The analytics course is a rather new course which is yet need a lot of attention from corporates. Students learn statistics, programming, data visualization, etc. The end semester exams are not difficult, especially for ISC and CBSE students. The 1st year is generally easy, and covers most of what is done in 11th and 12th. The pass percentage is around 80%.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest in analytics. I believe it to be an important field in the future, and this will help me pursue it and play a role in it. Since the world is largely heading towards a digital format, I felt that this course will help me a lot. I believe marketing the course better amongst the companies will help with better analytics based placements. Further courses to learn more coding and programming will also help to make the students better prepared for their roles. The crowd is good, helpful, and friendly. This college organises 4 main culturals and business fests apart from innumerable smaller ones by various associations and departments. Days without any activity are hard to find. This college also has teams for practically every sport and actively encourage students to participate in them. This college provides scholarships to those who require financial assistance.

Holistic development and growth.
Placements: Many seniors have gotten placed in top companies like Deutsche Bank and others. There is a special placement cell in college who help and guide students for placement and internships, by training for aptitude tests and interviews and providing other help as well.
Infrastructure: Classrooms have plug points and are well lit, with projectors. Wi-Fi connectivity throughout campus for essential websites. Computer labs are big and well-equipped. Library is well stocked and one can borrow many books at a time. There is a good gym with variety of equipment for training. Indoor sports like carrom and table tennis, one basketball court and a big mud ground too. Canteen food is good and homely and minimal prices.
Faculty: Teachers are industry trained and have expertise in their field of teaching and are aware of the fundamentals and technique of their subject. They train students to apply classroom knowledge and skills in real world situations in their pedagogy and are very helpful in the same.
Other: College culture is great and accomodating to all students. Crowd is fun loving and friendly. Facilities are good and balance of academics and cultural activities with a wide range of clubs and fests.

It is one of the best colleges in India.
Placements: I am from B.Com analytics. The highest salary package offered was 21 LPA in 2019. Students who got above 85% of marks in PUC were chosen for this course. Amazon, EY, etc., were top recruiting companies here. About 100% of students got internships, and about 100% placements are offered in SJCC every year.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure in SJCC is very good and well maintained. SJCC has a huge library, computer labs, digital classrooms, AV rooms, Wi-Fi-enabled campus, canteen, gym, sports ground, E-library, basketball court, parking lot, cricket nets and auditoriums.
Faculty: The teachers here are highly qualified, very helpful and knowledgeable. Their teaching is very good. The course curriculum is relevant and makes us industry-ready. Semester exams are skill-based and are challenging. The pass percentage is 40%.
Other: Analytics is the future of the corporate sector. A lot of events, fests and many other extracurricular activities are held in SJCC.

St. Joseph's College of Commerce is the best.
Placements: There are campus placements by the end of the second year. Almost 80% of the students appearing will be placed into good companies. The starting salary might not be a lot but there are companies like MuSigma which makes a contract with analytics freshers for around 25 LPA for a term period of 5 years. That's like 5 lacs per annum.
Infrastructure: The campus is amazing, and there are charging ports for our phones and laptops on every bench. The labs and library are amazing and completely advanced. Students are allowed to use the college Wi-Fi. They don't provide hostel services, but the college canteen provides good food for affordable rates.
Faculty: We have highly experienced and qualified teachers for all the subjects. The college is autonomous, and hence they have created a good curriculum integrated with the Institute of Analytics (IoA), UK. It's a combination of B.Com and IoA syllabus and hence prepares the students to face the world crisis.
Other: A normal B.Com degree doesn't have any value in today's world. Hence we have to specialise in something. I felt analytics and machine learning are the future of this advanced world and what's better than having a degree that teaches me both the commerce and tech part of analytics. Doing this degree in one of the best commerce colleges in India makes it better. SJCC is one of the best colleges to do your undergraduation and calling yourself a Josephite gives u a great brand value when you go for placements.
