    On Curriculum

Q:   Question: How is the course curriculum for B.E. / B.Tech at THDC Institute of Hydropower Engineering and Technology (THDC-IHET)?

    A:
    {Source: B.E. / B.Tech students & alumni}

Course Curriculum at THDC Institute of Hydropower Engineering and Technology (THDC-IHET)

    * Not Updated Regularly: The course curriculum at THDC-IHET is not updated regularly, making it less relevant to the industry.
    * UTTARAKHAND TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY CURRICULUM: The course curriculum follows the UTU curriculum, which might not be entirely up-to-date with new technologies.
    * Practical Knowledge Important: Practical knowledge is equally important as theoretical knowledge, but the emphasis seems to lean more towards theory.
    * Not Industry-Ready: Unfortunately, the course curriculum does not make students completely industry-ready, requiring them to work harder to develop career skills.
    * Sessional Examinations: One to two sessional examinations are conducted per semester, followed by end-semester examinations conducted by UTU.

Overall, while the faculty is generally helpful and knowledgeable, the course curriculum could benefit from updates to reflect modern technological advancements and industry demands.

I'm satisfied with the environment of our college.
Placements: Around 89% of students got placements this year. The average salary package was offered by companies like Infotech, TCS, and Infosys. Students have to prepare themselves for interviews.
Infrastructure: Our college provides a proper Wi-Fi connection on campus. Sports events are organised regularly. It has a very wide field for students to play games. I recommend students to take admission to this college.
Faculty: Semester exams are averagely difficult. Average students can pass the exams with good marks with their efforts.
Other: Scholarships are provided to the students. Extracurricular activities are organised regularly.

Review of THDC Institute of Hydropower Engineering and Technology.
Placements: Placements are not good because of the lack of a director in our college. The average salary package offered ranges from 3 LPA - 5 LPA. Many companies visit our college for placements with decent salary packages.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are well equipped with everything. Tables and chairs are in good condition. Every classroom has projectors for studying and displaying content. The library is good and contains a decent amount of books. The library has a good environment. There is a separate room for study purposes. Wi-Fi condition is not good. Hostels are decent. The electricity cutoff is very low. Water supply is also good. The food served in the mess is decent.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful. They help in every manner from academics to online registrations, etc. There are many guest teachers in our college. Students are highly trained and educated to get industry ready. Semester exams are also up to the mark.

The campus is located on hills side which is beautiful.
Placements: The placement of our college is about 63.3% last year with the highest package around 8-12 LPA and median was about 3-4 LPA. The companies that came for placement were TCS, YAMAHA motors, THDC, Infosys, and many other small fintech startups. Overall 60% students got internships.
Infrastructure: The facility was little bit good but infrastructure is best with Wi-Fi facility available throughout the campus and comfortable classroom and the best quality of labs. The quality of mess food is also good and hostels are very safe for students no ragging is there. And there are many games facilities available.
Faculty: Yes, the teachers are very helpful but the teaching quality is not good, faculty is not up to the mark, the semester exam is very difficult and passing criteria is also very high, they also teach us skills which is good for industry purpose and they ready us for industry.
Other: There are top-class events and fests in the campus and there are so many scholarships for weak financial background students.

Placements are not good but apart of this, overall the college is good.
Placements: Very few companies come to the college for placements. The data is not clear regarding packages and offers. For internship purpose also, students have to apply on their own. TNP cell is not initiating any step for campus placement.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is really good and classrooms are maintained well. Each classroom has a smartboard. Well-furnished furniture is present. Sports and activities are conducted in the college. Students have to take the initiative themselves. One room is allowed for three students in the hostel. Wi-Fi facility is available but it does not work well. Mess food is overall good.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful in every aspect and they can solve the doubts of students. Teaching quality is usually normal like other colleges. The course curriculum is UTU based and I think it needs to be updated with new technologies and students have to work on their careers on their own. Semester exams are easy to clear. Just go through the syllabus and prepare for the exams. They can help us to achieve good marks but for competitive exams, students have to put in extra efforts by themselves.

I am dissatisfied due to faculty.
Placements: There are only 10 students in our class (batch 2019-2023). From the pass-out batch i.e, 2017-2021 only 2 students got placed at Tata consultancy service. They were only 10 to 12 students in that batch. There offer no roles.
Infrastructure: Since the strength of students is very low we have better facilities like a smart screen, chairs, and tables in the classrooms. Wi-Fi is also available for students. The gym is also available but accessories are less. Hostel is average.
Faculty: Few teachers are helpful and knowledgeable while some of them use PPTs to complete units. Course curriculum doesn't make sense most of the time concerning industry-ready. Exams are easy.
Other: There are no events and fests since I have been here because of the covid so there are no chances. Scholarships are provided. The campus crowd is very less.

Good for a government regulated institute.
Placements: The placement cell is quite weak and due to the mountain terrain many companies refrain from coming for on-campus placements, but the faculty in charge of the placement cell does work hard to give the students the opportunity they deserve. In all, a good placement can be achieved by the individual if he/she works hard for it.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is okay I think, while the hostel, experiences frequent water outages the living conditions according to me are fine, the classrooms and labs are also good, but not up to the level they should be and the computer labs are also not up to date with the programming languages that we have in our course.
Faculty: The college is currently facing a faculty shortage, but it will be solved in a few months I hope, while the existing faculty are really good and supportive and friendly towards the students they are frequently overworked and thus students face difficulty in completing the course in due time.
Other: We haven't had any fests of any sorts cause of the lockdown but things are starting to pick up and the college clubs organize small functions from time to time.
