UCEED Reservation Policy 2025 - IIT Bombay has released the reservation policy for UCEED 2025. The reservation policy is outlined in the UCEED 2025 Information Brochure. The candidate can download the brochure from the admission portal - uceed.iitb.ac.in.

The candidate must select their category when filling out the UCEED 2025 application form

IIT Bombay will conduct the UCEED 2025 exam on January 19, 2025.

Per the reservation policy, 10% of seats in each course will be reserved for GEN-EWS candidates. OBC-NCL candidates will have a maximum of 27%. Meanwhile, 15% and 7% of seats will be reserved for SC and ST categories respectively.

Additionally, a 5% horizontal reservation will be available for PwD candidates.

To avail of category-specific reservations, the candidate must meet the applicable criteria, including that of family income.

Q:   Will exam officials provide stationery to candidates in the UCEED 2025 exam centre?

A:

Exam officials will not make any arrangements for stationery items for appearing in the exam. So, it is the sole responsibility of the candidate to bring the necessary stationery. Here are the basic stationery one needs to take the UCEED 2025 exam: pens, pencils, sketch pens and colours for the examination. The candidate, however, mustnt bring any drawing sheets with them to the exam hall. It is recommended that the candidate carefully goes through the list of allowed and barred items before arriving at the UCEED 2025 exam centre.

Q:   When will the UCEED 2025 exam be conducted?

A:

IIT Bombay will conduct the UCEED 2025 exam on January 19, 2025 (9 am - 12 noon). 

IIT Bombay has released the detailed admission schedule, including exam dates and application process.

The exam will be conducted in 27 cities aross India. Part A will be offline-based, while Part B will be conducted offline.

The application form commences on October 1, 2024. 

Q:   What skills do I need to have for UCEED 2025?

A:

To do well in UCEED 2025 exam, improve these skills: Improve your drawing skills - Practice free-hand drawing. Use 2 grades of pencil - H-grade to do rough work and B to do quick sketch and shading. Work on improving your creativity and be innovative Solve previous years question papers to improve problem-solving and time-management skills. Understand the basic concept of drawing, and learn various forms of drawing - composition, proportion, line drawing, etc. Taking mock tests will help the candidate get an idea as to how much time it takes to solve a section or question.

General category belonging to Economically Weaker Section (GEN-EWS) – 10% of seats in every course will be reserved for GEN-EWS candidates. 

Who can apply?

General category candidates who satisfy the conditions given in OM No. 20013/01/2018-BC-II dated January 17, 2019, issued by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment can apply under this category. 

  • The criteria for GEN-EWS will be per the prevailing norms and/or notifications of the Government of India. 
  • EWS certificates issued only on or after April 1, 2024, are accepted for the examination. 

Other Backward Classes belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL) – 27% of seats in every course. 

Who can/ can’t apply?

  • OBCs should be listed in the current updated central list of OBCs
  • OBCs present in the state list but not covered in the central list of OBCs are NOT eligible to claim the reservation.
  • The criteria for OBC-NCL will be as per the notification of the Government of India. OBC-NCL certificates issued only on or after April 1, 2024, are accepted for the examination.
  • Candidates belonging to the creamy layer of OBC are NOT entitled to reservation. Such candidates are treated as belonging to the general (GEN), i.e. unreserved category, and they will be eligible only for the OPEN seats.

Scheduled Caste (SC) – 15% of seats in every course

Scheduled Tribe (ST) – 7.5% of seats in every course. 

Q:   What is the last month exam preparation tips for UCEED 2025?

A:

In the last few months leading up to the UCEED 2025 exam, the candidate needs to follow this routine: If you have maintained a note, ensure you regularly go through the important points. Do timely revision of all the topics, especially the sticky concepts. Solve as many sample papers you can. Also take mock tests to get into the exam mood. Mocks will help you get an exam like ambience and you can get an idea as to how the question paper would be look like, the sections you need to attempt first, etc. Pay close attention to your health - sleep the full quote of hours, stay hydrated, do light exercise, and stay happy. It is also a good idea to not start any new topic at this stage of exam preparation.

Q:   When will IIT Bombay release UCEED 2025 exam center list?

A:

IIT Bombay will release the list of exam centres for UCEED 2025 sometime in September 2024. Note that IIT Bombay will only release the list of exam cities. The name of the exam UCEED 2025 centre allocated to be candidate will be mentioned on the admit card. The candidate can check the list of exam cities in the information brochure. In the previous edition of UCEED the exam was administered in 27 cities across India. The candidate had to select their choice of exam city at the time of filling out the application form.

Q:   What is the validity of the UCEED 2025 scorecard?

A:

The UCEED 2025 scorecard will be valid for a period of one year from the date of its release. The scorecard will be available for downloaded from March 10, 2025 onward. 

The scorecard will contain the Part A marks for all candidates who appeared in the UCEED 2025 entrance exam. However, Part B, total marks, and merit ranks will be released only for candidates who qualify Part A. 

Using the UCEED scorecard, the candidate can get admission to B. Des programme offered by participating and result-sharing institutions.

Q:   Can the candidate bring their own scribes to UCEED exam centre?

A:

The candidate is not allowed to select their own scribes for UCEED 2025 exam. Instead, the exam conducting body will arrange for a panel of scribes. The panel will be prepared in coordination with the test centre administrator (TCA) of the examination centre.

The candidate has to select a scribe from the given list.

Q:   What items am I allowed to carry to the UCEED 2025 exam centre?

A:

On the day of the UCEED 2025 exam, the candidate must bring with them the admit card and a valid photo id proof. Without these documents, the candidate will not be allowed to sit in the exam. To take the exam, the candidate must bring the following items: pens, pencils, sketch pens and colours for the examination. However, the candidate is not allowed to bring any electronic divide inside the exam hall, including mobile phones, smart phones, digital/smart watches, calculators, and tablets. Other items that are on the barred-items list include abacus, slide rule, log books, study material of any type, geometry box, and so on to the examination hall. IIT Bomaby will release the detailed list of forbidden items on its website before the exam.

Note that to apply under SC/ ST categories, the castes and tribes selected by the candidate should be mentioned in the respective central list of corresponding states published by the Government of India.

Persons with Disability (PwD) – 5% seats in each of OPEN, GEN-EWS, OBCNCL, SC, and ST category seats

  • Candidates must have at least 40% impairment irrespective of the type of disability i.e., locomotor, visual, or SEVERE dyslexic. 
  • Leprosy-cured candidates who are otherwise fit to pursue the courses are also included in this sub-category.
  • Candidates belonging to the GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD categories/sub-categories will be declared qualified based on a relaxed criterion.

Can I request a change in the UCEED 2025 admission category?

The candidate must note that once a category has been selected, requests for a change in category will not be entertained.

Also, if SC, ST, EWS, and OBC-NCL category seats remain vacant, such seats will NOT be allotted to candidates belonging to other categories.

Admission officials will verify the category documents furnished by the candidate, and if any anomaly is found, the candidature of the candidate will be canceled.

So, be careful when selecting your admission category.

UCEED 2025 - Reservation of Seats for Foreign Nationals

Candidates who are not Indian citizens (by birth or naturalized) (but not OCI/PIO candidates) will fall under the foreign national category.

Foreign nationals will be allotted supernumerary seats. 

The supernumerary seats will have a cap of 10% of the total seats in every course. 

Foreign nationals can’t opt for GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD categories / sub-categories.

To be considered for UCEED 2025 seat allocation, foreign nationals must have an All India Rank (AIR) and meet all the eligibility requirements- similar to open-category candidates. 

The counseling-cum-seat allotment for foreign nationals will be conducted after the seat allotment process for Indian nationals (in the same round).

UCEED 2025 Application Form

The application form for UCEED 2025 is open from October 1-31, 024. The candidate can also apply with a late fee of INR 500 till November 8, 2024.

The UCEED 2025 application fee is INR 4000 (SC, ST, PwD, and women candidates must pay only INR 2000).

To fill out the UCEED application form 2025, the candidate must get registered, and fill in personal, academic, and contact details. Next, select three exam centers in the priority, and upload documents. Finally, pay the application fee to complete the process.

The UCEED 2025 application is for admission to the B.Des program, which has an intake capacity of 225 seats. 

About UCEED 2025 exam

IIT Bombay will conduct the UCEED 2025 exam on January 19, 2025. The exam will have TWO parts.

Part A will be a computer-based exam that will include 57 questions carrying 200 marks. Meanwhile, Part B will be held offline and include two questions of 100 marks.

Part B answer booklets will be evaluated only if the candidate meets the Part B UCEED 2025 cut-off.

The Department of Design, IITD, is set ton introduce a B.Tech in Design program from the upcoming admission session.

It will have an intake of 20 students in the first batch. It is a 4 year program. The intake will be based on JEE advanced merit rank.
