Never give up; no matter what happens: Kapil Singh

LNMIIT, Jaipur

I am writing this article to share my experience about the days when I worked to reach the position I am at today.

It was the time when my final exams of class 10th ended. For intermediate, I decided to take Maths and crack JEE Main. For that, my parents helped me a lot, and decided that I join a Kota coaching institute. At that time, I was kind of excited. I shared it with my friends and they only told me that Kota coaching institutes are famous for giving stress to students. They also told me many people there took drugs, etc. But I didn’t change my decision as I believed in myself. Finally, I joined a coaching in Kota. I made new friends.

Sometimes, if the environment around us is not good, it affects us in a bad way too. The same thing happened to me. In 11th standard, I spent a lot of time on Facebook. I lived with my mom in a PG. My mom always told me to focus on my aim (JEE) but I didn't. One day, I don't know what happened but a thought came to my mind. Everything was all right but suddenly, my thoughts took a break. I noticed how so many students lived in a hostel and always felt stressed. They didn’t even eat the mess food because that was not tasty. However, my mom was always with me in any condition. I developed a kind of hatred for myself because I wasn’t respecting the huge amount of money my father had to pay for the coaching. I realized my fault but somewhere I was still stuck with my friends. I had a feeling something was wrong, so I tested my friends. I didn't talk to them for one month and for some time to my mom. I took some time for myself. None of my friends cared about what I was doing, but my mom did. I’m writing this because every student has their personal life but in the end, if something goes wrong or you fail, you cry but no friends are there for you. But your parents are there even when you lose your identity or your shine. I got my lesson and with positivity, I changed myself.

I focused on my aim, JEE. In 12th, I slept only for four hours in the night and the remaining time, I studied with a lot of sincerity. I felt stressed at times but I never gave up. I swore to myself that I wouldn’t use mobile phone or anything that would waste my time. I studied and asked doubts every day. Many a times, I cried and asked myself why I wasted my time in 11th but during those times, I talked to my mom and her smile motivated me. In 12th, I caught dengue and because of that, one whole month of JEE preparation was wasted. I cried, and once I got fine, I began my coaching again, but the course was mostly completed by then. But I never gave up and handled it. The night before JEE, I got really nervous and because of my habit of staying up to study the whole night, I didn’t sleep for even an hour. I failed the exam. I couldn’t even qualify it. I couldn’t believe that and felt broken. My parents tried to console me.

I took another chance (drop year) and did not give up. I took coaching for JEE. I started with the preparations again. The night before JEE came again but I fought back. This time, I slept for 4-5 hours, and qualified JEE Main but not JEE Advanced.

At this moment, I want to share something- Don't worry if you fail. You might’ve put all your strength in it, but maybe God has a better plan for it. Never give up and never lose yourself.

I joined the LNM Institute of Information Technology (LNMIIT), Jaipur in the dual degree branch. In the beginning, due to homesickness, I felt bad but my friends helped me. I was stressed at that time, plus, my roommate always made me feel sad. Same formula- I never gave up. I felt like giving up but my mom helped me a lot. So, at last, I changed my room. I practiced and prepared for the exams. When I felt bad, I did the only one thing that I’ve been doing since the age of six- dance! I love to dance and want to be a dancer. I write stories and songs. I make sketches. People ask me why I didn't join a dance club and other clubs related to it, but I answer nothing. The real reason is that I want to focus on my studies and clear my backs. When I feel stressed, one of my best friends helps me. I share everything with him. That's all. So, life continues and I never give up. I love my parents and that's sufficient for me.

In the end, I would say– Never give up.

Thank you Shiksha for giving me such a good opportunity!
