ISI Admission Test 2025: Notification, Registration Form, Eligibility, Pattern, Syllabus, Exam Dates & Latest Updates

The Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) conducts the Indian Statistical Institute Admission Test abbreviated as ISI Admission Test in order to offer students admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses which are offered at the ISI. Admission to the academic programmes offered at the ISI Kolkata is strictly based on the merits obtained by the candidates which are evaluated on their performance in ISI admission tests and interviews. The candidate's past academic records may also be taken into account for the purpose of performance evaluation. In 2024 the ISI admission test is held at 38 Centres across the country. The ISI admission test is a national-level entrance exam and the mode of the exam is offline i.e. pen and paper test.

When seeking admission at ISI, the very first step was to apply online for registration and appear for the entrance examination. Aspirants need to fill out the application form online on the official website. The ISI Admission Test 2025 application form has to be filled out online for the entrance exam for PG course admissions they need to register on the admissions portal. Candidates will also have to upload their photograph, signature and category certificate in the specific resolutions. The application fees needed to be paid in Credit/Debit Card and Net Banking modes.

All applicants interested in admission to any of the academic programmes listed earlier must apply online through the official website and will be notified soon. Overseas applicants must also apply online. However, they must take the Admission Test at one of the Test centres located in India (see Prospectus). In addition, such applicants are also requested to share their Application ID through an email to dean@isical.ac.in with the subject Overseas Application for Admission 2024-25. 

Below are the list of courses which are offered through ISI Admission Test 2025 and their eligibility criteria: 

• 3-year Bachelor of Statistics (Hons): Successful completion of 10+2 years of Higher SecondaryEducation (or its equivalent) with Mathematics and English as subjects. (Offered at Kolkata)Stipend: INR5000/- per month.
• 3-year Bachelor of Mathematics (Hons): Successful completion of 10+2 years of Higher SecondaryEducation (or its equivalent) with Mathematics and English as subjects. (Offered at Bengaluru)Stipend: INR5000/- per month.
• 2-year Master of Statistics: a bachelor’s degree of three or more years’ duration, in any discipline. (Offered at Delhi)
  Stipend: INR 8000/- per month.
• 2-year Master of Mathematics: a bachelor’s degree of three or more years’ duration, in any discipline. (Offered at Kolkata and Bengaluru)
  Stipend: INR 8000/- per month.
• 2-year Master of Science in Quantitative Economics: a bachelor’s degree of three or more years’duration, in any discipline. (Offered at Kolkata and Delhi)
  Stipend: INR 8000/- per month. 
• 2-year Master of Science in Quality Management Science: a bachelor’s degree of three or more years’ duration, in any discipline. (Offered at Bengaluru and Hyderabad)
  Stipend: INR 8000/- per month.
• 2-year Master of Science in Library and Information Science: a bachelor’s degree of three or more years’ duration, in any discipline. (Offered at Bengaluru)
  Stipend: INR 8000/- per month.
• 2-year Master of Technology in Computer Science: (i) a 4-year B.Tech./B.E. (or equivalent) degree in any stream or, (ii) a master's degree in any subject and have passed Mathematics
  at the 10+2 level. (Offered at Kolkata)
  Stipend: INR 12400/- per month.

A candidate with a valid GATE score above a threshold (to be decided by the Selection Committee)in his/ her own subject is eligible for admission through direct interview. For details, please

•  2-year Master of Technology in Quality, Reliability & Operations Research: (i) a master's degree in Statistics with Physics and Chemistry at the (10+2) level or (ii) a master's degree in Mathematics with Statistics as a subject at the undergraduate or post-graduate level and Physics and Chemistry at the (10+2) level or (iii) a B.E./ B.Tech degree or any other qualificationconsidered equivalent (such as AMIE). (Offered at Kolkata)
  Stipend: INR12400/- per month.
• 1-year Post-Graduate Diploma in Statistical Methods and Analytics: (i) a 3-year bachelor's degree in any discipline with Mathematics as a subject or, (ii) a B.E./ B.Tech. degree or any other qualification considered equivalent (such as AMIE). (Offered at ISI NE Centre at Tezpur and at Chennai. 50% seats at Tezpur are reserved for domiciled candidates of the North-East states of India)
  Stipend: INR 3000/- per month ONLY for students domiciled in the North-East States of India.
• 1-year Post-Graduate Diploma in Agricultural and Rural Management with Statistical Methods
  and Analytics: a 3-year bachelor's degree in any discipline with Mathematics/ Statistics as a subject at the intermediate (10+2) level. (Offered at Giridih).

The ISI Admission Test exam pattern is designed to test the subject-related knowledge of the candidates who are appearing in the examination. The ISI Admission Test pattern for the academic session 2025-2026 is yet to be announced. However, the chances of change in exam pattern is merely very less and it is anticipated that the ISI Admission Test 2025 will be held in two parts. Part A will have multiple choice questions and Part B will be descriptive in nature. The language of the exam is English. Candidates are allowed to use scientific calculators without programmable features. Negative marking applies to Section 1 only. Candidates need to qualify for both sections to be considered for admission. The specific syllabus and question paper format may vary slightly for different programs. ISI Admission Test 2025 syllabus has yet to be announced by the exam authorities. For reference, candidates can check out the previous year's exam syllabus. The frequency of changing the exam syllabus is very low. The level of the ISI Admission Test 2025 can be considered highly competitive and challenging. It attracts some of the brightest students in India, and the competition for admission is intense.

Based on the ISI Syllabus topics, aspirants can start their preparation following the standard topics ISI 2025 Important Books. The ISI syllabus 2025 will be broadly based on the graduation level and candidates can expect some questions of higher analytical and practical approach.

Successfully registered candidates of the ISI Admission Test 2025 application form will be able to tentatively download the ISI admission test admit card in the second week of May 2025. These admit cards can be downloaded from the institute’s official website. The admit card is an important document that needs to be carried to the exam centre at any cost. Without the admit card, candidates would not be allowed to appear for the entrance test.

ISI Admission Test 2025 Exam Centres

The ISI Admission Test 2025 will be conducted in 38 cities across India. The number of Exam centres has increased as compared to last year, which was 29. Candidates will have to choose the cities for the ISI Admission Test 2025 exam centre as per their preference. The exam authorities will allot the centre based on candidate preference and availability. The final test centre allocation would be communicated to candidates on their admit cards.
