KAS 2021 exam pattern will be notified in the official KAS 2021 notification. The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission will release the official KAS 2021 notification in the third week of January. The official notification will be the authentic source of information for the KAS exam pattern. KAS 2021 short notification was released on January 8. As per the short notification, the rules given in the SR-103 of 2018 will be followed in the Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Exam 2021.KAS 2021 exam will be conducted after 2018.
KAS exam pattern as given in the 2018 rules, the KAS exam will be conducted in two phases.
- KAS Prelims Exam
- KAS Main Exam
KAS Prelims Exam
The KAS Prelims exam is an objective type exam conducted offline at the designated exam centres across the centre. The KAS Prelims exam is a screening exam and the marks scored in the KAS prelims exam will not be considered for the final merit. It is mandatory to clear the KAS Prelims exam to get the admit card for the KAS main exam. The state-specific questions can be asked in the KAS Prelims General Studies Paper I.

*The KAS General Studies II paper is of qualifying nature and the candidates need to score 33% of the total marks.
Note 1: Paper-II of the Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination will be a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%.
Note 2: The questions will be of multiple-choice, objective type.
Note 3: It is mandatory for the candidate to appear in both the Papers of Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination for the purpose of evaluation. Therefore, a candidate will be disqualified in case he/she does not appear in both the papers of Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination.
KAS Main Exam Pattern
The KAS main exam is the principal component of the KAS exam. KAS main exam consists of two stages. The two stages are :
- KAS Main written
- KAS Main Personality Test
KAS Main written exam
The KAS main written exam is a critical part of the KAS exam. The KAS main written exam is a conventional type descriptive exam conducted offline. There are eight papers in the KAS main. The KAS main exam follows the same pattern of the IAS main exam except for the second qualifying language paper.

The English paper will be of qualifying nature and the marks secured in the English paper will not be counted for the final merit. It is mandatory to qualify the English paper because the evaluation of the rest of the paper is subject to the qualification in the English paper.

If a candidate does not qualify in the English paper, the answer sheet of other papers will not be evaluated and the candidates will be declared disqualified in the KAS main exam.
KAS Personality Test
The candidates who qualify in the KAS main written exam will be called the KAS Personality Test. There is no pattern of the KAS interview and every candidate’s interview is depends on the career record of the candidate. The members of the interview panel will have the access to the career record of the candidate.
