KSET Selection Process 2024
The KSET selection process 2024 includes the following steps:
Step 1: Fill KSET Application Form
Candidates need to apply for the KSET exam by filling out the KSET application form online. After duly filling out the KSET 2024 application form, aspirants can pay the application fee either in cash or online. Candidates are informed that the KSET application fee can be paid offline only at Canara Bank cash counters. “Fee submitted by any other mode like Money Order/Demand draft / IPO etc., will not be accepted”, informs the official website of the exam.
Step 2: Download the KSET Admit Card
Aspirants need to download their KSET admit card for the Karnataka State Eligibility Test from the official website of the exam. Once, they download the admit card, they need to take a clear print of the admit card and carry the same on the day of the KSET 2024 exam.
Step 3: Appear for the Karnataka State Eligibility Test
The KSET exam comprises two papers, namely Paper 1 and Paper 2. The KSET 2024 exam comprises multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The duration of the KSET 2024 exam is three hours, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Paper 1 is of hundred marks, and Paper 2 is of 200 marks. Aspirants need to reach the test centre at least half an hour before the commencement of the test.

KSET 2024: The authority released the KSET 2024 notification in the form of a PDF on the official website. The KSET 2024 application form was released on July 30, 2024 and the last date to apply was August 28, 2024. Those candidates who want to pursue their career in teaching could apply. KSET Eligibility Criteria 2024
Aspirants need to fulfill multiple KSET 2024 eligibility criteria to appear for the state eligibility test. Eligibility criteria for the Karnataka State Eligibility Test are as mentioned below:
- Should have secured a minimum of 55 per cent marks (without rounding off) for the general category and 50 per cent marks for Schedule Category (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons With Disability (PWD-VH/PH), Category I, IIA, IIB, IIIA and IIIB in master’s or equivalent exam from universities/institutions recognized by UGC New Delhi, in the subjects opted for KSET examination.
- Have appeared or will be appearing at the qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also appear for KSET. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally. For those who clear the KSET examination, an eligibility certificate will be issued only on production of proof of having passed the Master’s program or equivalent examination securing at least 55 per cent marks (50 per cent in case of SC, ST, PWD (VH/PH), Category I, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB candidates) within two years from the date of KSET examination, failing which they will be treated as disqualified.
- PhD Degree holders whose Master’s degree is completed on or before 19th September 1991 (irrespective of the declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5 per cent marks for appearing in the KSET examination.
- Candidates shall appear for the KSET examination in the relevant subject of their post-graduation only, in case the candidate did not find the subject of his post-graduation in the list of KSET subjects, the candidate may appear in NTA UGC-NET / UGC-CSIR NET which is held twice a year.
- Aspirants other than the general category are required to mention their social status (Category I, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB, SC, ST, PWD (VH/PH)) in the online application form. Candidates may note that they should satisfy the eligibility conditions and they are required to submit attested copies of documents such as post-graduate degree marks cards, Xth Marks cards, category certificates, and certificates related to PWD (VH/PH) enclosed with their application. The candidates should submit the category certificates on or before the last date for submission of a hard copy of the application form and the certificate should be issued by the competent authority the issue date of such certificate should be not earlier to 1st July 2015. In case their ineligibility is detected due to an invalid certificate by the KSET agency at any stage, their candidature will be canceled and they shall be liable for legal action.
- Candidates who became eligible in the previous KSET exam are not eligible to apply again in the same subject. If any candidate is found to be eligible in the previous KSET exam and reappears for the KSET 2024 exam, the candidature of such candidate will be canceled and the previous eligibility will be withdrawn through de-notification.
- Candidates should possess a Master’s degree or any other equivalent examination from Universities / Institutions recognized by UGC New Delhi in the subject opted for the KSET examination.

KSET Eligibility 2024: Exemptions
KSET exam is the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment of Lecturers / Assistant Professors in Universities / Colleges / Institutions of Higher education (Government/Aided/Private) in the state of Karnataka. However, the official website informs that there are some exemptions to this rule:
- NET/SET/SLET exam remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professors in Universities/Colleges/ Institutions. In this
regard, exemption from the NET/SET/SLET exam will be governed by the UGC regulations or through the amendments notified in the Gazette of India for time to time. - Candidates who have passed the UGC-NET/CSIR JRF examination before 1989 are also exempted from KSET examination.
- For SET candidates: Those who cleared the SET exam for eligibility for Assistant Professor before June 1, 2002, are exempted from appearing in KSET and can apply for Assistant Professor anywhere in India. For SET exam held after June 2002 onwards, the qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor only in the Universities/ Colleges situated in the state from where they cleared the exam.

KSET 2024 Exam Day Guidelines
- Candidates need to carry the KSET admit card 2024 to the exam centres on the day of the examination.

KSET Admit Card 2024
The KSET 2024 admit card for the exam conducted on November 24, 2024 was available online on the official website at https://cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea/. The KSET 2024 Hall ticket is a mandatory document to be carried to the examination hall by the candidate. Without the hard copy of the KSET 2024 admit card and valid ID proof, a candidate will not be allowed to take the KSET 2024 exam.
