CSIR NET Syllabus 2024: The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) provided the CSIR NET 2024 Syllabus for December cycle in the notification that was released on the official website at csirnet.nta.ac.in. Generally, the CSIR UGC NET syllabus consists of topics from all five subjects namely Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Physical Sciences. Candidates can thoroughly review the CSIR NET Syllabus for their respective subjects to prepare for the exam.

Q:   What is the duration of the CSIR NET exam?

A:

CSIR UGC NET exams are conducted for five papers - Earth Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Physical Sciences. The total marks students can obtain in CSIR UGC NET is 200. Students must note that there is a negative marking on the exam. The time duration of CSIR Net is 180 minutes. CSIR UGC NET is conducted nationally twice a year.

No, the CSIR NET syllabus is different for each subject paper. The syllabus is designed to test the candidates' knowledge and understanding of the concepts in their respective subjects, including Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, and Earth Sciences. Each subject paper has a different syllabus, which covers the important topics and concepts in that particular subject. For example, the syllabus for the Physical Sciences paper covers topics such as Mathematical Methods of Physics Classical Mechanics, Electromagnetic Theory, Quantum Mechanics, Thermodynamics and Statistical Physics Electronics and Experimental Methods. On the other hand, the syllabus for the Mathematical Sciences paper covers topics such as Analysis, Linear Algebra Complex Analysis, Algebra Topology, Ordinary Differential Equations (ODEs), Partial Differential Equations (PDEs), Numerical Analysis, Calculus of Variations, Linear Integral Equations, Classical Mechanics, Descriptive Statistics Probability and Graph Theory. Q:   In which language questions are asked in the CSIR NET exam?

The CSIR NET (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research National Eligibility Test) exam is conducted in English language only. The exam question papers, including all sections and subjects, are provided in English. It is important for candidates appearing for the CSIR NET exam to have a good understanding of the English language to comprehend and answer the questions effectively.

CSIR NET Exam Pattern 2024: Overview

The CSIR NET Exam Pattern 2024 involves the structure of the question paper including the total of subjects, questions, exam duration and marking scheme. Have a look at the highlights of the exam pattern below:

  • The CSIR NET Question Paper 2024 of each paper is divided into three sections- Part A, B and C
  • The CSIR NET Part-A comprises General Aptitude questions that assess the candidates’ teaching/research aptitude, reasoning ability, comprehension skills, divergent thinking and general awareness
  • Paper B and Part C questions are based on the subject chosen by candidates from the following five subjects - Earth Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Physical Sciences
  • The exam carries a weightage of 200 marks
  • There is a negative marking of 25 per cent (33 per cent for a few parts) for each wrong answer
  • The exam comprises objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs)

CSIR UGC NET Syllabus 2024: Part A

The CSIR NET Syllabus of Part A of all five subjects is the same. Part A contains questions related to General Science, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analysis and Research Aptitude. Part A contains 20 MCQs and candidates are required to answer any 15 questions. Each question carries two marks. The total marks allocated to Part A are 30 out of the total 200.
