MH SET cutoff 2023 will be released by the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU)  soon on the official website. The cutoff marks will be released subject-wise and category-wise. Candidates who are able to obtain the qualifying cut off marks in the MH SET 2023 exam will be declared qualified in the MH SET exam. The Universities will provide MH SET e-certificates through which they can apply for the post of Assistant Professors in the colleges and universities of Maharashtra & Goa.

The MH SET cut off is released as an aggregate in both Paper 1 and Paper 2. As per the UGC directives, six per cent of the candidates who appeared in both the papers are declared to be qualified. The MH SET 2023 exam was held on March 26, 2023. 

Q:   What is the criteria for becoming a government lecturer after cracking MH SET exam?

A:

Eligibility to be a Lecturer:

  1. Educational Qualification To be eligible to be a lecturer one should hold at least a Master Degree in any of the relevant subject with at least 55% marks in it. Higher qualifications are always preferred.
  2. Interested candidate has to appear in MH SET exam which is held twice a year and pass it.This is the only hurdle to be cleared to be eligible to get a job as a lecturer In a college. 
  3. After clearing MH SET exam one is eligible for applying as a lecturer in any college affiliated with any of the university recognised by UGC in Maharashtra. Clearing of MH SET does not gives guarantee of any job it is just a condition to be cleared. One has to individually apply against the post advertised by various colleges from time to time in the mass media.College authorities can appoint a lecture by their own means. They may take a written test followed by an interview to select the deserving candidate or a walk in interview may be the criterion for the selection.

Q:   I have secured the minimum qualifying marks for the MH SET exam for Assistant Professor; still I am not qualified, why?

A:

The candidates need to qualify for both papers that are paper 1 and paper 2 in order to be eligible to qualify for the MH SET exam. The candidates have to score a minimum of 40 per cent marks (Unreserved category) and 35 per cent of marks to qualify for the MH SET exam. However, among the candidates crossing the minimum qualifying marks, the top 6 per cent of the candidates will be made qualified for the Assistant Professor.

Q:   What is the difficulty level of MH SET exam?

The difficulty level of the MH SET exam may vary from subject to subject and from one exam cycle to another. However, in general, the MH SET exam is considered to be a moderately difficult exam that tests the candidates' knowledge, comprehension, analytical and reasoning abilities, and research aptitude. The exam consists of two papers - Paper 1 and Paper 2. Q:   What is the scope after qualifying MH SET?

A:

The MH SET exam is taken for candidates who are interested in Ph.D research and teaching as Assistant professor in colleges and universities in India. However, there are other career opportunities other than being Assistant Professor or a Research Scholar. The candidates who qualified for the MH SET exam can apply for the PSUs (Public Sector Undertakings) such as Indian Oil Corporation limited (IOCL), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), etc. 

The candidates who do not want to join any PSU can take up other options like online tutors, open their own coaching centres, guest faculty, consultants, Lab Trainers, IP leads, Authors, Editors, Transmission Executives, Program Executive, etc. 

For conclusion we can say that the candidates qualifying for the MH SET exam can take up any job they want or start their own business after clearing one of the most the toughest exams in India.

Q:   I have not cleared the MH SET exam. Can I appear for the exam again?

A:

Yes you can definitely appear for the MH SET exam again If you did not clear it in the first attempt. The MH SET exam is conducted twice a year by the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) for the selection of Assistant Professor in various Maharashtra, Gujrat and Goa Universities and Colleges. 

There is no limit on the number o attempts that you can makefor the MH SET exam. However, you have to fulfill the eligibility criteria for the exam, which include having master's  degree with at least 55 per cent marks (50 per cent for reserved categories) or equivalent from the UGC recognised University.

Q:   Is it possible to change the exam centre after submitting the MH SET application form?

A:

No, it is not possible to change the exam center after submitting the MH SET application form. The exam center once allotted by the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) is final and cannot be changed under any circumstances. Therefore, candidates are advised to carefully choose their preferred exam center while filling up the application form. However, in case of any errors or discrepancies in the MH SET City Intimation Slip, candidates can contact the (SPPU) helpdesk for assistance. The (SPPU) may consider requests for corrections or changes in case of genuine mistakes on their part, but this is subject to the discretion of the (SPPU). Therefore, it is important to carefully review all the details in the MH SET City Intimation Slip after downloading it from the official website and contact the (SPPU) helpdesk in case of any discrepancies or issues.
