MH SET exam pattern 2024 highlights the overall structure of the exam including the total number of questions, marking scheme, duration of the exam, maximum marks, and subjects. The Savitribai Phule Pune University prescribes it. The MH SET exam is divided into two papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2 and the exam pattern of both papers is different. The MH SET Paper 1 is general in nature comprising objective multiple-choice questions (MCQs) from Teaching and Research Aptitude. On the other hand, Paper 2 is conducted in 32 subjects. All the questions of both papers are compulsory in nature. Candidates need to appear for both papers to be eligible for the award of Assistant Professor. Q:   How many attempts are allowed in MH SET exam?

A:

There is no limit to the number of attempts allowed for the MH SET exam. As long as a candidate meets the eligibility criteria, they can appear for the exam in any number of attempts. The MH SET exam is conducted twice a year, and candidates who are not able to qualify in one attempt can appear for the next cycle of the exam. However, it is important to note that candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria for each attempt and pay the application fee for each attempt separately. Also, candidates who have already qualified for the MH SET exam are eligible to appear again for the same subject and category.

Q:   What is the criteria for becoming a government lecturer after cracking MH SET exam?

A:

Eligibility to be a Lecturer:

  1. Educational Qualification To be eligible to be a lecturer one should hold at least a Master Degree in any of the relevant subject with at least 55% marks in it. Higher qualifications are always preferred.
  2. Interested candidate has to appear in MH SET exam which is held twice a year and pass it.This is the only hurdle to be cleared to be eligible to get a job as a lecturer In a college. 
  3. After clearing MH SET exam one is eligible for applying as a lecturer in any college affiliated with any of the university recognised by UGC in Maharashtra. Clearing of MH SET does not gives guarantee of any job it is just a condition to be cleared. One has to individually apply against the post advertised by various colleges from time to time in the mass media.College authorities can appoint a lecture by their own means. They may take a written test followed by an interview to select the deserving candidate or a walk in interview may be the criterion for the selection.

Q:   Is there any interview round in MH SET exam?

A:
The MH SET exam conducted by the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) does not have a Personal Interview round. The selection of candidates for the award eligibility for Assistant Professor which is based solely on the performance of the candidates in the written exam conducted in two papers - Paper 1 and Paper 2. The candidates who qualify for the MH SET exam are required to apply for the PhD or Assistant Professorship vacancies in various universities and colleges that are advertised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or other Maharasthra Government bodies. The selection process for these positions may involve additional rounds such as a Personal Interview presentation, or group discussion, depending on the institution's recruitment policy. Q:   What is the scope after qualifying MH SET?

A:

The MH SET exam is taken for candidates who are interested in Ph.D research and teaching as Assistant professor in colleges and universities in India. However, there are other career opportunities other than being Assistant Professor or a Research Scholar. The candidates who qualified for the MH SET exam can apply for the PSUs (Public Sector Undertakings) such as Indian Oil Corporation limited (IOCL), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), etc. 

The candidates who do not want to join any PSU can take up other options like online tutors, open their own coaching centres, guest faculty, consultants, Lab Trainers, IP leads, Authors, Editors, Transmission Executives, Program Executive, etc. 

For conclusion we can say that the candidates qualifying for the MH SET exam can take up any job they want or start their own business after clearing one of the most the toughest exams in India.

Q:   I have secured the minimum qualifying marks for the MH SET exam for Assistant Professor; still I am not qualified, why?

A:

The candidates need to qualify for both papers that are paper 1 and paper 2 in order to be eligible to qualify for the MH SET exam. The candidates have to score a minimum of 40 per cent marks (Unreserved category) and 35 per cent of marks to qualify for the MH SET exam. However, among the candidates crossing the minimum qualifying marks, the top 6 per cent of the candidates will be made qualified for the Assistant Professor.

MH SET Exam Pattern 2024 for Paper 2

The MH SET Paper 2 is conducted in 32 different subjects. Candidates need to choose the subject of Paper 2 at the time of submitting the MH SET application form on the basis of their PG level subject. The Paper 2 question paper will contain a total of compulsory 100 MCQs of 2 marks each. Candidates will get 2 hours to attempt the paper. Q:   Are NCERT books sufficient for the preparation of MH SET exam?

A:

NCERT books can be beneficial for the aspirants in the initial days of preparation, especially for paper 1. However, it will not cover all the topics in detail. Sometimes MH SET exam covers a wide range from all topics and may the NCERT book will not cover the topics in depth. Therefore, the candidates are advised to go through the detailed books and other study materials. Additionally solving previous years' question papers are taking mock tests can also be helpful in preparing for the MH SET exam.
