Meghalaya TET (MTET) notification 2023 was released by the Directorate of Educational Research & Training (DERT), the exam-conducting body, on October 3, 2023. The notification is released to conduct the MTET 2023 exam for determining the eligibility of candidates for Classes 1 to 8 school teachers in the state.  Along with the notification, MTET Application Form 2023 was also released. Interested candidates could fill out the Meghalaya TET 2023 Application Form through the link provided below from October 3 to 26, 2023. According to the official notification, the MTET 2023 exam was conducted by DERT on December 1, 2023.

Q:   Is it compulsory to attempt both papers in the MTET exam?

A: 

No, it is not mandatory to appear for both MTET (Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test) Paper 1 and 2. Candidates can choose to appear for either Paper 1 or Paper 2, depending on their desired teaching level. The MTET exam is conducted in two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 is for candidates who wish to teach classes I to V, while Paper 2 is for candidates who wish to teach classes VI to VIII. However, candidates who wish to teach classes I to VIII have to appear for both Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates can choose to appear for either Paper 1 or Paper 2 depending on their teaching preferences. For example, if a candidate wants to teach only classes 1 to 5, they can choose to appear for Paper 1 only. Similarly, if a candidate wants to teach only classes 6 to 8, they can choose to appear for Paper 2 only.

A: 

Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test (MTET) levels are as follows: I. Primary Level (Class I-V) II. Upper Primary Level (Class IV-VIII) Educational Qualification: 1. Minimum educational qualifications for becoming Teacher for Classes I-V (Primary Level): Degree with Minimum 50% from a UGC recognised university/ SC/ ST/ OBC/ PH/ freedom fighters will be given for 5% in Degree & 02 years Diploma (DEd) from NCTE/ Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) or Degree with 02 years BTC, CT (Nursery)/ Nursery Teacher Training (NTT) (02 years) from Established by Law and UGC recognised university or Degree with qualify in Special BTC Training from a UGC recognised university or 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (BElEd) 2. Q:   Is there any negative marking in MTET?

A: 

In the MTET exam, papers 1 and 2 contain 150 objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs) each. Paper 1 comprises 5 sections i.e. Child Development and Pedagogy, Language-I, Language II, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies. Paper 2 comprises 4 sections with a choice in the fourth one i.e. Child Development and Pedagogy, Language-I, Language-II, and Mathematics and Science or Social Studies. MTET Marking Scheme: 1 mark is allotted for every correct answer and there is no negative marking in the MTET exam.

MTET Eligibility Criteria 2023

The eligibility criteria of MTET in terms of educational qualification and age limit are given below.

  • Candidates who are permanent residents of Meghalaya can apply for the MTET 2023 exam
  • Candidates should clear class 12 with a minimum of 50 per cent aggregate to appear for MTET Paper 1 and should pass BA/BSc with at least 50 per cent aggregate to appear for Paper 2
  • Candidates should not be over 32 years of age

MTET Application Form 2023

MTET application form 2023 is released on the official website of the exam- www.megeducation.gov.in. In order to fill out the form, candidates need to pay an application fee. The application form can be submitted offline as well as online. The steps to submit the Meghalaya TET application form offline are given below.

  • Click on the ‘Directorate of Educational Research & Training’ box
  • Click on the ‘Application Form: MTET 2023 Application form for UP or LP’ link

Candidates planning to teach Classes 1 to 5 need to qualify MTET Paper 1. Candidates planning to teach Classes 6 to 8 need to qualify for MTET Paper 2. Candidates planning to teach Classes 1 to 8 need to qualify both papers. The candidates have to apply for the papers according to their eligibility set by the board. Meghalaya TET Exam Pattern 2023

The Meghalaya TET exam is conducted offline in pen and paper mode. The exam is held in two sessions for Paper 1 and Paper 2. The MTET Paper 1 is for candidates who want to teach classes 1 to 5 and Paper 2 is for those who want to teach classes 6 to 8.
