PSEB released the PSTET Provisional Answer Key for Paper 2 on May 8, 2023. Candidates could raise objections against the PSTET Paper 2 Answer Key till May 11, 2023.

PSTET Admit Card 2023 was released by the PSEB on March 9, 2023. Candidates can download their admit card by logging into the official website. According to the notification, PSTET Exam 2023 was conducted on March 12, 2023.

PSTET Exam Date 2023 was announced by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) on February 18, 2023. The PSTET 2023 notification was released on February 18, 2023, containing the important dates related to the exam. Q:   What is the duration of PSTET Exam?

A: 

The duration of the PSTET (Punjab Teacher Eligibility Test) Exam is 2.5 hours (150 minutes) for both Paper 1 and Paper 2. The exam is conducted in two shifts, with Paper 1 conducted in the morning shift and Paper 2 conducted in the afternoon shift. Each paper of the PSTET Exam consists of 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), with each question carrying one mark. The questions are designed to test the candidates' knowledge, understanding, and pedagogical skills related to the relevant subjects. Candidates are advised to manage their time well during the exam and allocate sufficient time for each section of the paper. Yes, the PSTET exam is conducted on a single day but in two different shifts. The details of the PSTET exam shifts has been given below for the candidates:

  • Shift 1 is conducted from 10:00 am-12:30 pm for PSTET Paper 1
  • Shift 2 is conducted from 2:30-5:00 pm for PSTET Paper 2

However, the shift timing can be changed by the board. Though, the candidates will be informed by the board before if any changes are made for the PSTET exam.

Q:   How many questions are asked in PSTET exam?

A: 

PSTET (PunjabTeacher Eligibility Test) exam consists of two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Each paper has 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with four options and a single correct answer. The total marks for both papers are 150, with each question carrying one mark. The distribution of questions and marks in each paper is as follows :-

  • Paper 1: The 150 MCQs are divided into five sections, with 30 questions in each section. The sections are Child Development and Pedagogy, Language 1 (Punjabi), Language 2 (English), Mathematics, and Environmental Studies. 
  • Paper 2: The 150 MCQs are divided into five sections, with 30 questions in each section. The sections are Child Development and Pedagogy, Language 1 (Punjabi), Language 2 (English), Mathematics and Science, and Social Studies/Social Science.

It is important to note that each question carries equal weightage, and there is no negative marking for incorrect answers. Candidates must score a minimum of 60% marks to qualify the PSTET exam.

PSTET application process: The PSTET application form 2023 releases in online mode. Candidates need to apply online for the exam by visiting the official website. The application fee for the PSTET exam is INR 900 for the general category and INR 600 for SC/ST/PH category.

PSTET application correction window: Candidates are allowed to make corrections in the PSTET application form. The details that candidates can modify are the candidate's personal details, exam centre choice and others.

Candidates should be a minimum of 18 of age in order to be eligible to apply for the PSTET exam. There is no upper age limit for the PSTET exam. The educational qualification to apply for the PSTET exam has been given below for the candidates:

Primary

  • Class 12 with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education
  • Class 12 with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (BElEd)
  • Graduation with BEd (final year appearing or passed)

Upper Primary

  • Graduation with a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education
  • Graduation with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in one-year BEd
  • Graduation with at least 45 per cent marks and a one year BEd
  • Class 12 with minimum 50 per cent marks with a four-year BElEd

Q:   How many papers does one need to give to qualify the PSTET exam?

A: 

Candidates planning to teach Classes 1 to 5 need to qualify PSTET Paper 1. Candidates planning to teach Classes 6 to 8 need to qualify for PSTET Paper 2. Candidates planning to teach Classes 1 to 8 need to qualify both papers. The candidates have to apply for the papers according to their eligibility set by the board. The educational qualification criteria has been given below for the candidates:

Q:   How to get a job after qualifying for PSTET?

A: 

After qualifying the PSTET exam, the candidates are awarded with the eligibility Certificate. PSTET does not guarantee any job after the candidate qualifies the exam. Though, the candidates will become eligible for the recruitment exam after qualifying for the PSTET exam. The recruitment exam for recruiting teachers in the schools of Punjab. The candidates can apply for the different vacancies according to their eligibility. The Punjab government releases the vacancies for the teachers according to the needs of the state.
