The Staff Selection Commission released the SSC CGL Tier 1 final answer key on December 19, 2024. The candidates can download the final SSC CGL answer key 2024 from the official website till January 8, 2025. The candidates should note that the SSC CGL admit card 2024 for the Tier 2 exam will be released on January 13, 2025. The regional websites will release the SSC CGL hall tickets for the candidates. SSC CGL Tier 2 exam 2024 will be conducted from January 18 to 20, 2025.

The answer key and response sheet will not be available after the designated date. The Staff Selection Commission released the SSC CGL Tier 1 marks and scorecard on December 18, 2024. The candidates can check their raw and normalised marks in their SSC CGL scorecard 2024. The Commission released an official notice in this regard that the SSC CGL Marks and Scorecard will be available till December 31, 2024(6.00 PM). The candidates will be required to login with their One-Time Registration Number and Password.  The SSC CGL 2024 exam for Tier 2 will be conducted online mode only. The Commission selected 18,436 candidates for the Junior Statistical Officer, 2,833 for the Statistical Investigator post and 1,65,240 candidates for all other posts. The Staff Selection Commission released the SSC CGL result 2024 on its official website - ssc.gov.in on December 5, 2024. The Commission also released the SSC CGL Cutoff 2024 for all the post groups. 

The SSC CGL 2025 dates were announced in the official SSC exam calendar. The SSC CGL 2025 notification will be released on April 22, 2025. The last date for the SSC CGL application form 2025 will be May 21, 2025. The Commission will conduct the SSC CGL 2025 in June/July 2025.

SSC CGL 2024 Tie Resolution

In the event of tie scores of candidates in Tier 2, merit will be decided by applying the following criteria, one after another in the order, till the tie is resolved:

What is SSC CGL?

SSC CGL is a national-level exam conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to shortlist candidates for Group-B and Group-C posts in various ministries/departments/organizations of the Government of India. Every year, about 30 lakh candidates fill out the SSC CGL application form and about 15-18 lakh aspirants appear for the exam. Staff Selection Commission conducts the exam in four stages, called tiers. The two tiers of the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam are conducted online. 

SSC CGL Full Form

The full form of SSC CGL is Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Combined Graduate Level (CGL). The name of the exam is taken from the qualification required for the exam. A graduate degree is a basic qualification required to apply for the exam.  

Q:   How many times is SSC CGL conducted in a year?

Each stage (tier-I, II) of the SSC CGL exam is conducted once a year. The year 2022 was the exception because SSC CGL Tier 1 exam was conducted twice in a calendar year. SSC CGL Tier 1 exam 2021 was conducted from April 11 to 21 and SSC CGL Tier 1 exam 2022 was conducted till December 13. How to Apply for SSC CGL Exam 2024?

SSC CGL 2024 applications will be filled out online only.  Candidates can fill out the SSC CGL 2024 online application form on the official website of the Commission. There were two parts to the application- registration and application. The SSC CGL application filling process is given below:

Step 2: Click on the 'New User? Register Now 'link. 

Step 3: Fill out the SSC CGL registration form.

Step 4: Log in to the registered account using the registration number (generated at the time of registration) and password (set at the time of registration).

Step 5: Fill in all details asked in the SSC CGL application form.

Step 6: Upload scanned images of photos and signatures and other important documents, if applicable. 

Step 7: Review the SSC online form carefully and click on the Final Submit button.

Step 8: Pay the SSC CGL application fee of INR 100 in online or offline mode.

The candidates need to trim their images as per the specification because the SSC can reject the application in case of any variations from the specifications. 

SSC CGL Application Fee 2024

Candidates could pay the SSC CGL application fee of INR 100 in online only via BHIM UPI/internet banking/credit card/debit card. However, all females and candidates belonging to reserved categories such as Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons with Disability (PwD) and Ex-Servicemen (ESM) were exempted from the application fee payment.

Earlier the SSC CGL 2024 notification was scheduled for June 11, 2024 but it was not released. The Commission will mention the important details such as vacancies, dates, syllabus, exam patttern and the rules and regulations in the official notification.

The SSC CGL 2024 application will be filled online at the official website only.

The candidates should SEE the final number of vacancies for all the posts notified under the SSC CGL 2022 exam. The Commission also released the names of the posts where higher Computer Knowledge standards will be considered for final selection. This will alter the number of candidates eligible for selection for such posts because the Computer questions, asked in Tier 2, were difficult. Most of the candidates shared that the Computer Knowledge test was a hard nut to crack and it can change the permutations for the final selection.

Q:   Is there any negative marking in the SSC CGL exam?

Yes, there is a negative marking of 0.50 marks in the SSC CGL tier-I exam. The SSC CGL Tier 2 also has a negative marking. The quantum of negative marking is one-fourth of the marks assigned for the correct answer. The mark assigned for the correct answer is 2 marks and the negative marking is 0.5 marks. No marks will be deducted for unattempted questions. The candidates should avoid the guesswork in the exam because the negative marking rapidly pulls the overall score down in case of incorrect answers.

SSC CGL Selection Process 2024

SSC CGL selection process includes the following stages/tiers:

  • Application process: Candidates need to fill out the application form online on the official website of the commission in a specified manner. The application fee is INR 100.
  • Tier 1 application status - The regional websites of SSC releases the application status of the candidates, mentioning the acceptance or rejection of the application. It will also inform about the exam date of the candidate.
  • Tier 1 admit cards: SSC regional websites release the admit for the CGL Tier-I exam four days before the exam day. The candidates need to download their admit cards from these regional SSC websites in a specified manner.
  • Tier 1 exam: Tier-I is a Computer-Based Exam (CBE) that contains objective-type Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) of 200 marks. 
  • Tier 1 Answer Key - SSC releases the tentative answer within ten days of the completion of the exam. The Commission asks the candidates to raise objections against the incorrect questions/answers given in the official answer key.
  • Tier 1 result: The result is declared by SSC on its official website within 45 days of the exam. The result contains the names and/or roll numbers of candidates qualifying for the Tier-II exam. 
  • Tier 2 admit card: Eligible candidates need to download their admit cards for the Tier-II exam from the official regional websites. The admit card is typically released about one week before the exam. 
  • Tier 2 exam: Tier II is again a CBE that is divided into three papers.
  • SSC CGL result: Final result is announced based on candidates' performance in tier-I and tier-II exams. All qualifying candidates are then allotted Group B and C posts in various ministries/departments/organisations of the Government of India.
