The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission will conduct the TNPSC Group 2 Counselling after the declaration of the TNPSC Group 2 result of the main exam. Counselling is the last stage of the TNPSC Group 2 selection process. TNPSC Group 2 counselling is done in a phase-wise manner and the candidates are called in a phased manner as per the merit list. Candidates called for counselling are provided with available service options in different departments with the place of posting. The candidates need to select the post from the options at the time of counselling. Candidate need to select from the options at the time of counselling and no second chance will be given to the candidate. The candidates who qualify in all the exam stages and score above the cutoff for selection.
TNPSC Group 2 Counselling 2024 is expected to start in June 2025 after the declaration of TNPSC Group 2 main result. The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission released the tentative dates for the TNPSC Group 2 prelims exam. The Commission conducted the TNPSC Group 2 2024 exam on September 14, 2024. The Commission released its TNPSC Group 2 notification 2024 online on June 20, 2024. The prelims exam will be followed by TNPSC Group 2 main exam. The TNPSC Group 2 original certificate verification and counselling is the name given to the process of verifying all the academic, professional and cast-related original certificates of the candidates. The claims for the relaxation and reservations will be weighed against the certificates submitted by the candidate.

Certificates Required for TNPSC Group 2 Counselling
TNPSC Group 2 Counselling is very important because the candidature and the cast-related claims made by the candidates are subject to the verification of the original certificates. The counselling is done for the non-interview posts. The TNPSC Group 2 Counselling is done to check the suitability of the candidate for the post. Besides suitability, the candidate’s academic background and professional experience are also considered for the post.
The candidates need to carry all the certificates (in original) on the day of counselling with one or two copies each. The list of certificates required on the day of Counselling are as follows:
Evidence of Date of Birth
The candidates must bring the
- Secondary School Leaving Certificate or
- Higher Secondary Certificate
- A certificate from a University or College, or School authority showing the date of birth, according to the University or College or School records. (The certificate of Baptism or extract from
Register of Births, cannot be accepted) - Extract from the Service Register showing date of birth in respect of persons holding a regular appointment under the State Government.
Two certificates of Character and Conduct
The candidates will be required to produce two character certificates to support their candidature. No two certificates may be obtained from the same person. These certificates can be
- From the Head of the Institution (other than that of a Tutorial College or Tutorial School or a Type-writing and/or Shorthand Institution) in which the candidate last studied or is
studying, as the case may be.
Note:- i. If the period of study at the Institution in which the candidate last studied or is studying as the case may be, is less than one academic year, he must produce also another certificate from the Head of the Institution, in which he last studied for not less than one academic year.
- From a Government Officer belongs to Group A or B who knows the candidate personally, obtained not earlier than the first day of the month, in which the recruitment is advertised in
the newspapers. This certificate must be based on personal knowledge and experience of the candidate and not from a relative.
Community Certificate
A community certificate will be required in case the candidate belong to any of the reserved category.
No objection Certificate
The candidates who is already in a Union or State Government service or under the employment of Local Bodies or Universities, or Quasi Government Organizations constituted under the
authority of the Government of India or of a State in India whether in regular service or in a temporary service need not send their applications through their Head of Department or
Employer.

- Medical / Veterinary Registration Certificate / Bar Council Registration Certificate / Driving Licence *
- Evidence of Practical Experience if any prescribed for the post advertised.*
- Certificate of character and conduct issued by Group A or Group B Officer on or after the first day of the month in which the Advertisement announcing the vacancies is published in the
dailies. - Certificate of character and conduct issued by the Head of the Institution in which he / she last studied or studying.
- Physical Fitness certificate. *
- Differently Abled certificate from a Medical Officer to the effect that he / she is a fit person to discharge his / her duties and with the entries therein regarding the percentage of
Differently abled &*nbsp; - A certificate of Destitute Widow from the RDO or the Assistant Collector or the Sub-Collector concerned in the format prescribed. *
- A certificate as evidence for claim in respect of Ex-serviceman. *
- Evidence of extra–curricular activities if any *
- No Objection Certificate *
Special records, if any specified in the Notification / Advertisement.*
Tamil Medium: Persons Studied in Tamil Medium (PSTM) have to produce the evidence, such as Transfer Certificate, Provisional Certificate / Convocation Certificate / Degree Certificate / Certificate if needed mark sheets after received from the Board or University or from the Institution, with a recording that he / she studied prescribed educational Qualification in Tamil Medium as per G.O Ms.No.145 P & AR (S) Department dated 30.09.2010.

TNPSC Group 2 Pre-Counselling Phase
The Pre-counselling phase of the TNPSC Group 2 counselling process starts with the publication of the overall TNPSC Group 2 result list. The TNPSC Group 2 merit list is prepared according to the marks secured in the TNPSC Group 2 written exam. Besides the overall ranking, the following ranks are also assigned to the candidates.

- Community-wise Rank
- Special Category Rank viz- Ex-Servicemen, Destitute widow and differently-abled categories.
The commission releases the department/unit wise and category-wise vacancy list before counselling. The candidates can see the vacancies in their category and the desired department. Commission issues the counselling instructions with dos and don’ts on the counselling day.
The following steps are followed in the pre-counselling.
- The number of candidates called for the vacancies will be three times the number of vacancies.
- The verification of the documents is done against the claims made by the candidates.
- After the verification, the commission prepares the Counselling list after removing the absent/ineligible/rejected candidates.
TNPSC Group 2 Counselling Process
Commission invites the candidates for counselling purposes at the pre-determined place. The TNPSC issues the hall ticket mentioning the venue and reporting time for the counselling. The candidates are asked to report half an hour before at the counselling venue.
For the day of counselling, the candidates are asked to register themselves with the commission. For the said purpose, the commission has employed counselling software. The candidates are duly enrolled through this software only and the candidates are made to sit as per their order of rank.
Instruction Session
On the day of counselling, the authorised person by the commission explains the instructions to the candidates.
Vacancy Projection
At the counselling chamber, the vacancies are displayed on the screen to inform the candidates about the latest update about the vacancies in the respective department and category. The projection screen helps the candidate to make an informed decision at the moment of counselling.
Help Desk
The help desk is the first point where the candidate is explained about the vacancies in various departments in his category. The projection screen will display the vacancies available in his category only.
Allotment Desk
After getting all the information about the vacancy in his or her category in the departments, the candidates are asked to opt for the service from the options. After the candidate confirms his choice of service at the allotment desk, an allotment order is generated. This allotment order bears a unique barcode and it is duly signed by the competent authority. After generation of the allotment order, the candidate cannot change his or her choice.
TNPSC Group 2 Post-Counselling
After the counselling is completed, the candidate's name is sent to the respective departments. These departments issue the appointment letter to the candidates. This marks the completion of the TNPSC Group 2 recruitment process.
