The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission conduct the TNPSC Group 2 exam to recruit candidates for Group 2/Group 2A services for the state. The TNPSC Group 2 exam is conducted under the name of Combined Civil Services Exam-II (CCSE-II). The TNPSC Group 2 selection process is the aggregate of all the stages of the exam. TNPSC Group 2 selection process 2024 was started with the release of official notification on June 20, 2024. The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission released TNPSC Group 2 notification 2024 on June 20, 2024. The TNPSC Group 2 2024 application will also start with the release of official notification. The TNPSC Group 4 exam 2024 was conducted on September 14, 2024.
TNPSC Group 2 exam is a three-stage exam but for the group 2A posts, the exam has two stages only. The candidates need to clear each stage to get a call for the successive stage. The three stages for the TNPSC Group 2 exam are as follows.
- Preliminary Exam (qualifying only)
- Main Written Exam (300 Marks)
- Oral test (40 Marks) {for group 2 posts only}

TNPSC Group 2 Prelims Exam
The TNPSC Group 2 prelims exam is an offline exam conducted in a pen and paper mode across the state simultaneously. The TNPSC Group 2 prelims exam is a screening exam only and the marks secured in the prelims exam is not counted for the final merit. The candidate needs to qualify in this exam to appear in the TNPSC Group 2 main exam. There is only one question paper in the TNPSC Group 2 prelims exam. The TNPSC Prelims paper has two sections, as per the revised/new exam pattern notified by the commission.

The competition in the TNPSC Group 2 prelims exam is the highest. Most of the candidates cannot clear the prelims exam because of the competition. The passing percentage of this stage is very low.

TNPSC Group 2 Main Exam
TNPSC Group 2 main exam is the main exam as the name suggests. The marks secured in the TNPSC Group 2 main exam determine the selection in the group 2 exam. The TNPSC Group 2 main exam has fewer candidates, but the candidates are very competitive and hence the competition is very high at this stage. The TNPSC Group 2 main exam is conducted offline at the selected exam centres across the state.
The TNPSC Group 2 exam is oriented towards the storytelling and explanation aspect of the candidates. The candidates are expected to develop a story from the hints, reading comprehensions and answer the associated questions, precis writing, and essay writing. The candidates need to qualify in the English and Telugu language paper.
The candidates are expected to know the translation from Telugu to English and English to Telugu. The basic idea behind these papers is to test the cultural connection of the candidates with the local culture. The rest of the sections are discussed above. The TNPSC Group 2 main exam has the following structure.

TNPSC Group 2 Oral Test
This is the third stage of the TNPSC Group 2 selection process. The oral test is only conducted for the candidates appearing for the Group 2 posts. The weight-age of the oral test is little over 10% of the total marks. It is required to check the personality of the candidates for the posts and also check the suitability of the candidates for the services.
The syllabus and time limit is not fixed for the TNPSC Group 2 oral test. It differs from candidate to candidate. The TNPSC Group 2 final result is declared after the oral test.
The final merit list is made after adding the marks of the mains and oral test.
