TNTET exam pattern 2025 is prescribed by the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB), Tamil Nadu. The TNTET 2025 exam is conducted to determine the eligibility of the candidates for teaching posts at the primary and upper primary levels. The TRB follows a particular pattern for the exam process. The TNTET exam comprises two papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2. The TNTET exam pattern differs for both papers. The TNTET Paper 1 comprises questions from five sections and Paper 2 comprises topics from four sections. For the ease of candidates, we have shared below the detailed TNTET exam pattern 2024 for Paper 1 and Paper 2.

Q:   Are NCERT books sufficient for the preparation of TNTET exam?

A: 

NCERT books can be beneficial for the aspirants in the initial days of preparation, especially for paper 1. However, it will not cover all the topics in detail. Sometimes TNTET exam covers a wide range from all topics and may the NCERT book will not cover the topics in depth. Therefore, the candidates are advised to go through the detailed books and other study materials. Additionally solving previous years' question papers are taking mock tests can also be helpful in preparing for the TNTET exam.

Q:   Can we change the subject code in the TNTET correction window as I have chosen wrong subject?

A: 

The Teacher Recruitment Board opens the correction window for the candidates after the closure of the TNTET application form. The candidates can correct the mistakes that they have done while filling out the TNTET application form. On the specific date released by the TRB, candidates can make corrections to their application form through the candidates' login. To log into the registered account the candidates have to use their application number and date of birth. After the login, the candidates can correct their mistakes. 

However, the TRB does not allow some changes to the application form that are given below:

  • No change allowed in the mobile number, email address, permanent address & correspondence address
  • No change allowed in candidate’s name, date of birth and gender
  • No change is allowed in the photo
  • Change is allowed either in the father’s name or mother’s name (any one only)

The candidates' who do not verify their Adhaar Card can make corrections to the candidate's name, date of birth, and gender.

  • Child Development and pedagogy paper aims to assess candidates understanding of child psychology and learning ability relevant to the age group of 6 – 11 years
  • Language I will focus on the proficiencies related to the Medium of Instruction. 
  • Language II English will assess the communication skills and comprehension ability of the candidates
  • Mathematics and Environmental Studies will assess overall concepts, problem-solving skills along with the understanding of the subjects from a pedagogical perspective.
  • All the questions in TNTET Paper 1 will be based on the TNTET syllabus prescribed by the exam conducting body.
