TNTET syllabus 2025 is prescribed by the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB), Tamil Nadu for Paper 1 and Paper 2. The TNTET syllabus differs for Paper 1 and Paper 2. The TNTET 2025 syllabus includes topics that are very helpful in examining the knowledge of the candidates in the respective papers. Candidates who are going to appear for the exam must study the basics of each topic and should have a clear understanding of each and every topic mentioned in the syllabus. For the ease of candidates, we have shared below the detailed syllabus for both papers. 

TNTET 2025 exam comprises two papers, Paper 1 is for Classes 1 to 5 teachers, and Paper 2 is for Classes 6 to 8 teachers. Let’s have a broader look at the TNTET syllabus 2025 below.

Q:   What is the syllabus for TNTET exam?

A: 

The candidates who want to appear for the TNTET (Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test) must go through the syllabus to prepare for the TNTET exam. The syllabus for the TNTET exam has been given below for the candidates:

TNTET Paper 1 Syllabus:

  • Child Development and Pedagogy  (relevant to the age group of 6 – 11 years)
  • Language I (Tamil/Telugu/Malayalam/Kannada/Urdu)
  • Language II – English
  • Mathematics
  • Environmental Studies

TNTET Paper 2 Syllabus:

  • Child Development and Pedagogy-relevant to the age group of 11-14 years (Compulsory)
  • Language-Tamil/Telugu/Malayalam/Kannada/Urdu (Compulsory)
  • Language II – English
    • Mathematics or Science or,
    • Social Science or,
    • Anyone of the two mentioned above

Q:   Is there any negative marking in the TNTET exam?

A: 

There is no negative marking in the TNTET (tamil Nadu Teacher Eigibility Test) exam. The TNTET exam is conducted for two categories. All the levels of the exam consist of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and each question carries one mark. There is no negative marking for wrong answers, which means that candidates are not penalised for guessing the answer or attempting a question. However, it is important to note that candidates should try to avoid guessing and attempt only those questions for which they are confident about the answer, as it is the total number of correct answers that will determine their score and ranking in the TNTET exam.

Q:   What is the marking scheme of the TNTET exam?

A: 

The marking scheme of TNTET exam is as follows: - The TNTET exam consists of multiple-choice questions, where each question carries one mark. - There is no negative marking for incorrect answers, which means that candidates do not lose marks for wrong answers. - The TNTET exam has a total of 150 questions, and the maximum marks that can be scored are 150.

To qualify the TNTET 2024 exam, candidates need to score a minimum of 60 per cent marks, which means that they need to score at least 90 marks out of 150. However, the content of the papers is different, and candidates need to appear for the paper that is relevant to their desired teaching level.

Q:   Is TNTET Certificate valid for a lifetime?

A: 

The TNTET certificate is now valid forever. Ramesh Pokhariyal, Indian Education Minister has announced that the validity of the TET certificate is extended for a lifetime. Earlier the validity of the certificates was 5 years. Candidates qualifying for the TNTET exam will be the first batch of candidates with a lifetime TNTET certificate. They can apply for teacher recruitment in Tamil Nadu schools at any point in time till they fulfil the eligibility criteria fixed by the respective recruiting agency.

Q:   When will the TNTET application form be released?

A: 

The Teacher Recruitmnet Board (TRB) will release the Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) application form along with the release of the notification PDF. The candidates who wants to appear for the TNTET exam must apply for the exam online from the official website- trb.tn.gov.in. No offline form will be considered by the TRB by any means.

Q:   Are NCERT books sufficient for the preparation of TNTET exam?

A: 

NCERT books can be beneficial for the aspirants in the initial days of preparation, especially for paper 1. However, it will not cover all the topics in detail. Sometimes TNTET exam covers a wide range from all topics and may the NCERT book will not cover the topics in depth. Therefore, the candidates are advised to go through the detailed books and other study materials. Additionally solving previous years' question papers are taking mock tests can also be helpful in preparing for the TNTET exam.
