AMU Aligarh PhD Admission 2023

Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) offers full-time and part-time Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in different disciplines in the faculties of the University as notified by the University from time to time. Admission in PhD in AMU is entrance based. Interested candidates are needed to appear for AMU Admission Test to get admission to these programmes. PhD is offered in streams such as Science, Arts, Agricultural Sciences, Engineering, Law, Medicine, Humanities and Social Sciences, Management and many more. The Aligarh Muslim University offers Integrated Master of Philosophy (MPhil) leading to PhD and Direct PhD.

AMU PhD Admission 2023: Eligibility Criteria

In order to pursue full-time PhD from AMU, candidates must have a Master’s degree or its equivalent, recognized by a university in the relevant subject to their proposed field of research with a minimum of 55% aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in 7 point scale of UGC (or an equivalent overall grade if grading system is followed).

A:

Aligarh Muslim University offers a three-year full-time BSc course at the undergraduate level. Apart from the BSc course, the University also offers BSc (Hons) courses. AMU admission to the BSc course is based on candidates' performance in an entrance test conducted by the University. The total seat intake for the AMU BSc course is approximately 1260. Q:   Are there multiple attempts for the AMU B.Tech Entrance Exam like JEE?

A:

The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) conducts its own engineering entrance exam called the AMUEEE (Aligarh Muslim University Engineering Entrance Exam) for admission into its BTech programme. As per the official information brochure, there is no limit to the number of attempts for the AMUEEE exam. Candidates can appear for the exam as many times as they wish to improve their score and chances of admission. However, it is important to note that candidates must meet the eligibility criteria set by the university for appearing in the exam, such as age limit, educational qualifications, etc. Before applying for the exam.

Q:   What is the total seat intake for AMU MBA course?

A:

The Aligarh Muslim University provides MBA course on its main campus as well as at AMU Centers in Malappuram, Murshidabad and Kishanganj. Each campus has a seat intake of 60. A 1-year/2-semester master's degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.

M.Phil. programme with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.
OR
A 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme (with research) with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed.

In case of part-time PhD, candidates must qualify the same eligibility criteria as that of full-time, and should fall among the following categories:

  • Candidate has been in service in a government/public sector undertaking/R&D for at least two years and is sanctioned study leave for one year
  • Candidate is an Assistant Professor (Contractual) and Guest Teacher of this university
  • Candidate is a Nursing Tutor or Permanent School Teacher or of this university with five years of regular service
  • Admission to MPhil & PhD will be done through AMU Admission Test, followed by an interview
  • Candidates who have already qualified CSIR NET or UGC NET or any other national level entrance test such as NET JRF will be considered for admission without appearing in the AMU Admission Written Test. However, candidates will have the option of appearing in the written test to increase their admission chances, in which case, the higher marks obtained in the qualifying test will be considered.

AMU PhD: Relaxation of Marks

A relaxation of 5% of marks, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, in the qualifying examination may be allowed for Persons with Disabilities (having more than 40% disability).

Aligarh Muslim University PhD: Criteria for Admission

Selection of candidates in Ph.D. programme will be made through an admission test comprising (a) a written test and (b) Presentation-cum-Interview (for those who qualify the written test and are short-listed for Presentation-cum-Interview).

Q:   What is the minimum eligibility criteria for AMU B.P.Ed admission?

A:

For Aligarh Muslim University B.P.Ed admission, candidates must have passed a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum aggregate of 50% and have at least participation in the InterCollege/Inter-Zonal / District / School competition in sports and games as recognised by the AIU/ IOA / SGFI / Govt. of India. Students with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education with 45% marks or Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 45% marks and studied physical education as a compulsory elective subject are also eligible for AMU B.P.Ed admission. 

Q:   What is the minimum eligibility requirement for AMU MBA course?

A:

Aligarh Muslim University offers an MBA (General), MBA in Hospital Administration, MBA in Islamic Banking & Finance and MBA in International Business at the postgraduate level for a duration of two years each. AMU admission to all these courses is completely entrance-based and depends' on candidates' performance in CAT or an online written test, conducted by the University. Candidates seeking admission to any of the above-mentioned AMU MBA courses must have passed graduation in any discipline with a minimum aggregate of 50%.

Q:   Who is eligible for MBA at AMU?

A:

Candidates willing to pursue MBA from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) must fulfil the eligibility requirements established by the university. Given below are the eligibility criteria for the MBA programme at AMU:

  • The candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% aggregate.
  • Candidates should take the entrance exam conducted by AMU for admission to the MBA programme and should aim to score well in it.
  • Candidates based on their performance in AMU MBA entrance exam will be shortlisted for the counselling process.
  • Candidates will be required to report to the admission cell at AMU for the counselling process followed by document verification and tuition fee payment.

Q:   How to crack AMU BTech entrance exam?

A:

The Aligarh Muslim University only accepts AMUEEE scores for admission to the BTech course. The AMUEEE is private- engineering exam with a very high volume of applicants every year which means th competition level among students is also very high. 

For admission to AMU BTech, the candidates need to prepare and perform extremely well in the AMUEE.

Below mentioned are some tips and tricks that will help students prepare for AMUEEE:

  • The candidates should check the official AMUEEE syllabus 2024 and know the details regarding the topics that will be covered in the entrance exam.  
  • Aspirants are advised to become familiar with their official AMUEEE 2024 exam pattern.
  • Aspirants are advised to customise timetable as per their aptitude. The entire syllabus should be wisely divided so that all of the topics are covered before the examination with ample time for revision. Candidates should also allot enough time for regular revision and mock tests.

Q:   When was NEET 2024 conducted?

A:

The NEET 2024 exam is scheduled to be conducted on May 5, 2024, in a single session from 2:00 PM to 5:20 PM. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will create the NEET 2024 exam paper based on topics from the Physics, Chemistry, and Biology syllabi for classes 11 and 12 textbooks. The exam will be conducted in 13 languages. Candidates are advised to arrive at the examination center at least 30 minutes before the reporting time and must bring the following documents with them to the exam center: NEET 2024 Admit Card and Valid Photo ID

(ii) Candidates who qualify for fellowship/ scholarship in UGC-NET/UGC-CSIR NET / GATE / CEED and similar National level tests with a score more than or equal to the
qualifying marks of General Category, valid at the time of admission, are exempted from appearing in the written test. However, they must appear in the presentationcum-interview in person to become eligible for selection.

(iii) Foreign nationals are exempted from appearing in the written test. However, they must appear in the presentation-cum-interview in person or through video conferencing to become eligible for selection.

AMU Aligarh PhD Course Duration 2023

Candidates can find the course duration of both full-time and part-time PhD programmes in the table mentioned below:

A minimum of three and a half years from the date of admission, and a maximum of seven years, extendable by maximum of one year

Note: Women scholars and candidates with disability (more than 40%) can be allowed a relaxation of two years to pursue PhD. Women scholars may be offered Maternity Leave/Child Care Leave in the entire duration of PhD for up to 240 days.

  • Only Single Registration is sufficient for applying to the multiple courses by a candidate.

  • In case you have lost/forgot your password, Please use Forgot Password link to get it. It will be sent to you on your registered email.
  • Please fill your Profile carefully and Review it properly before Saving it as you will not be able to Edit/Update it afterwards.
  • Before filling the Application form you must have the following ready.
  • Scanned copy of colored Photo with white background, Signature, and Thumb Impression (Left Hand Thumb Impression for every candidate) of the Candidate in JPG format only. The file size of each should be less than 200KB.

  • Candidate eligible for admission to PhD programme in more than one discipline of the University can apply for the same but such a candidate must fill a separate application form for each discipline. However, candidates can apply only in a maximum of two disciplines within the same discipline
