December 10, 2024: UGC announced major changes in CUET UG 2025 to ensure efficiency and credibility for students. Below are the changes:
- The number of CUET subjects has been reduced from 63 to 37 (23 domain subjects and 13 languages). The discontinued subjects include:
- Foreign Languages: French, Spanish, German, Nepali, Persian, Italian, Arabic, Sindhi, Kashmiri, Konkani, Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, Manipuri, Santhali, Sanskrit, Tibetan, Japanese, Russian, Chinese
- CUET Domain Subjects: Entrepreneurship, Teaching Aptitude, Fashion Studies, Tourism, Legal Studies, Engineering Graphics
- Admissions for removed subjects will be based on General Test (GAT) Scores.
- The mode of examination will be CBT (Computer Based Test).
- Students can select up to five subjects in the CUET exam instead of six.
- Flexibility in subject choice has been introduced. Students can select subjects irrespective of what they studied in Class 12th.
- The exam duration for all CUET subjects will be 60 minutes per subject.

CUET UG 2025 Registration Updates
CUET Registration 2025 will begin tentatively in the first week of February 2025 at cuetug.ntaonline.in. Students will be able to fill out the CUET UG Application Form online on the official website. Q: When will be CUET UG exam conducted?
CUET UG 2025 exam will be conducted tentatively in third week of May 2025. The mode of examination will be CBT (Cmputer Based Test). NTA will release the official notification for CUET UG exam date before the release of notification. Candidates will be able to know exam details through CUET UG information bulletin. NTA will conduct CUET UG 2025 exam in multiple phases depending upon the number of candidates registering for the exam. Registered candidates will know the exact CUET UG exam on release of the hall ticket. Candidates will have to report at the alloted exam centre on the day of the examination. Q: Will CUET UG exam duration vary for each subject?
No, CUET UG exam duration will not vary for each subject. The exam duration will be unform for all CUET subjects that is 60 minutes. Candidates will be required to attempt 50 questions within the given time limit. The marking scheme of each question remains the same.
Q: Is it compulsory to attempt all the sections of the CUET question paper?
CUET UG section I and section II, consisting of the language and domain-wise subjects are compulsory to attempt. On the other hand, the third section consisting of General Knowledge and aptitude questions is not compulsory to attempt unless it is the requirement of the programme the candidate has applied for. Candidates will have to choose the subjects while filling the CUET UG application form. In case candidates do not opt for the General Test, then they will be evaluated only based on their performance in Section 1 and Section 2 as per the requirement of the course and university that candidate has applied for. NTA will use the normalisation method to score candidates and universities will prepare the merit lists accordingly.
